You have no idea how much i miss this! I'm a dutch guy, grown up between perch and pike filled waterways, now living somewhere without any decent predators.. i now fill my time fishing for bream, carp and roach, still am so jealous of the healthy amount of pike and perch in the UK! Keep up the nice video's!
@@arual5762 hahaha tis maar tijdelijk voor de studie gelukkig, ga de snoek er vast meer om waarderen als ik over een paar jaar weer naar de goeie kant van de grens kom 😅
Hi dB great videos, I live in wakey too, what time do you go fishing on the canal, I've been fishing the river/ canal near the gypsy camp, what time would you say is best time of day for pike, do you go early morning?
I think it's the position of the hooks that make it so hard to set the hook on those topwater weedless frogs, try bending the hooks out slightly it won't be just as weedless but you'll hook up a lot more. (I took the gingerfishermans advice)
Hi Dan, I'm honest, I've used such a thing, should you maybe wait a moment with the hookset until the pike has the frog right in the mouth?! As I said I have no idea! Good luck that England comes to the final!!
This is just a question DB Fishing, how do you get your upload quality so good I have a fishing channel (not this account) and when I edit videos the quality is amazing but then when they are uploaded they look terrible and I am concerned for growth of my channel in result of this problem. Cheers
You must fix the hooks. I always do that with my frogs and ducks. When i start with frogs ..... 5 years ago, i got 10 pikes and missed 40 pikes. When i push up the hooks a little bit ..... 26 pikes and missed 40 :). The biggest up on frog .... yet ... 9 kilo
You need to Bend the Hooks Up, Widen the Gap on them, I did this with mine, and I nail everyone of them. Learn not to strike to soon, leave till they take a second bite, About 4 seconds after the Hit.
I’ve got a number of those frogs in my “collection” never used. I thought when I bought them that hooks being full of frog in the bite of the hook would make it more difficult for that hook set. As I said I haven’t used mine yet, only going on visual showing frog fills the hook. .????🎣🎣🎣🇦🇺
I find that any company who has these frogs need to work on how hooks are placed. I find that adjusting the hooks worked for me, I pulled them out a bit. Worked for me, might not work for someone else. P.S I will try to find a use for all those SG lures i've sent you today..
Idk what it is. But the pike this season seem way more aggressive than previous seasons. I’d never had a take on a frog in my river and this season I’ve had 5 in 2 sessions
DB Fishing, when they take the frog, let them carry it in their mouth, in other words, postpone the hook set. When I'm frog fishing i postpone the hook set even for a 10-15 seconds, if they are feeding, they rarely let go of them. I keep twiching the frog very lightly while is in their mouth, to imitate the effect of live prey in their mouth. You can feel how they are turning the frog in their mouth and when you feel that they are taking off with the frog, banding your rod, then is the time for the hook set.
bore off mate, even the PAC don’t acknowledge a closed season for pike. If anything, setting a hook quickly using lures is a good way of fishing for them in the summer. It depends on the water you’re fishing, the oxygen levels and the temperature, which varies massively across the UK.

Where do you live? Almost every water in the netherlands has a healthy amount of predators in it.
@@arual5762 i live in Belgium now.. waterquality is very poor at best, absolute 0 pike, very few perch and a bit of zander, that's all..

That fish had me on the edge of my seat !, you should try a Hedon moss boss they swim over anything. Great video as always.
What I understood from bass fishing with frogs, the trick is to not set the hook emediatly but wait until the fish have turned and then set the hook.
Was thinking of getting some of these lures now am going to looks like a laugh and top vid mate I love chilling out and watching y vids 👍👍

@@pikeandperch no I mean try bending the double hook so the hooks stick slightly away from the body of the frog.
Love this channel.
Caught my first surface lure Pike the other day. Good fun. Best get some froggies 😆👍
I would love to know the canal you're fishing on 🥺
Do you never use drag on your reels? I've spent a fortune on the westin frogs thinking these cheap ones wouldn't be any good 🙈 lol

You can bend the hooks up away from the body, it can improve hook sets dramatically

Nice brother
You should bent the hooks out. Also your rod is to soft for a good hookset, you can throw a frog perfect with a baitcaster
@@pikeandperch Advice for another day 💪
Where do you live?
I added another hook on mine, very bad design
Много сходов.! Но круто все равно.
Frogging...? Thats something narrowboaters do and is the marine equivalent of dogging....
The first fish it’s because your drag is to high

@@pikeandperch wana bet its a pike pro from october to march? Carp and fair westher fisherboy rest of the year 😂
Doesn't make sense not to, they're not spawning and the water oxygen level seem fine. The water levels in a canal also seem fine, what's the problem?
