    I bought this gate kit from my local hardware store because whenever I build a gate it comes out warped. So I figured I would see if this kit would make a solid, warp free gate.

    Used this kit to build a 40" wide gate mounted on a 4x4 post 15 years ago, still rock solid in 2023.

      Nice. The gate I made in this video was at a pervious house we had but it was super solid when we sold the place a few years back. Thanks for watching. :)

    i used 2 of these kits to make a 12' wide double gate. It worked very well but had to screw the adjustable frames together as I built it. The turnbuckle is a must. Overall it was worth was it.

    Thank you for making this!!! I have been contemplating a double 5' gate for getting vehicles in/out of the back yard. You just sold me on two of these kits.

      I'm not easily impressed with kits like this but I have to say I'm happy with the gate I made using this kit. It never needs adjustment. Thank you for watching. :)

    Thank you for posting. I'm building a new fence n I have metal post so I was like what to do . Before i had 4×4 posts. I thought it was a perfect review, I got exactly what I wanted out of it. Matter of fact I'm on my way to home depot. Thanks

    Question: I noticed your top hinge "pin" (that's in the post) is pointed upward instead of downward which the directions call for. Is this because you were having trouble with the frame sliding down through the hinge bracket and eventually off the hinge pin that's in the post when it was facing downward? To my knowledge the bottom one is to be facing up and top one facing down - which doesn't make sense to me. But since installing it this way after a day or two the bracket has slid off the hinge pin itself twice now and the whole gate has fallen off b/c of it.

      @KoalityofLife  5 років тому

      On this gate I wanted to be able to remove the gate easily if I needed to so I installed both the hinges the same way. Most of the time you will install hinges opposite so that nobody can come along and remove your gate to get in. Sometimes you really have to crank down on the hinge bolts to keep them in place so that they don't slide down and let your gate fall. :)

    A Did your turnbuckle come with that crimp to keep the turnbuckle in place (not spinning)? I had to put a stop nut on it.

      Honestly I don't remember, but I can tell you that I never had it loosen up and I didn't have to readjust it after the first time. Sorry I couldn't be anymore help. Thanks for watching. :)

    Looks great! What did you use to drill the holes into the metal posts?

    • @KoalityofLife
      @KoalityofLife  5 років тому

      I didn't drill any holes, it comes with holes drilled into it. Sometimes the holes might not line up, in this case you could just mark them and use a standard drill bit, the metal isn't very thick. Thank you for watching. :)

    can i build a 6ft wide gate with this or does it only extend 3 feet? i know the box says you can build a gate up to 6ft but someone told me that was using 2 gates since it only extends to 3ft, 2 gates will get you a 6ft opening... kind of misleading but i need to find out before i return it

    • @KoalityofLife
      @KoalityofLife  7 років тому +1

      I would say yes you can build a gate 6' wide with only one gate. My gate was 4 foot wide and it still had room to extend to make a bigger gate. I have used this same gate to make a 12' wide gate in one piece but I had to make horizontal bars out of some square stock that I had to buy at the steel shop and I had to get a longer cable for the diagonal support. But it still works just fine. The box says it goes up to 6' in one gate. Hope this helps you. :)

    How you open the gate from the outside..

      I have a string that goes between two slats of the fence to the other side that you can pull on to open the latch. Thank you for watching. :)

      The whole thing is a kit you can buy online or at most hardware stores. If you want you can use the Amazon link I left in the description, if you buy it through the link it helps us out without adding any additional charge to you. :)

      I think they wanted to know about your metal fence posts not the gate kit, I too would like to know about them, they looked I-beamish

    You really threw me for a while with your terminology. What you called "4x4 studs" are actually fence posts, and what you called "fence posts" are actually fence pickets. Ha!
