Do yourself and the poor locals a favour and go to some of the lesser known towns! Bellagio and Varenna are now totally overrun and bursting at the seams. The ferries are overcrowded, the queues are very long, you can’t get a table anywhere and the swarms or tourists doing stupid things and taking endless selfies is really annoying. Visit some of the lesser known tons instead - you will still have a great experience and a much more authentic one - there are so many lovely towns to choose from across the many northern lakes - give Varenna and Bellagio a break.
