I actually love and appreciate the thought of this series... it's so unique in the fact that I don't think anyone else has done or thought of it... not only that, it's education, just all the way around LIT !!!!!!!!!!!
Such a great idea for a video! I remember when I first went natural, I was so confused with the terms while trying to find the right regimen and products! Great video!
I realize that this is an older video, but I still want to comment and say thank you. This video is a lifesaver. I am becoming more knowledgable of black hair maintenance for my daughter. I'm soon going to be the mother of a mixed baby girl, and these videos have helped me better understand, and become more aware of the community. I love your videos and will be referring back to many of them in about 2 months. 😍😍
I’m not black but I have been binge watching these videos out of pure fascination and curiosity. I find natural hair beautiful and unique so it’s amazing to see how people of color take care of it
I recently did the big chop and I have 4c hair, it's so refreshing seeing someone with 4 texture giving tips on how to flourish!! Thanks so much!!!!! 😩🙌🏾✨
I have learned so much from your videos than I've ever learned within my four years of being natural. Thank you for being a source of inspiration and knowledge!
Lots of useful information for the newbies. I've always been natural, but many of these terms became popular with the rise of the UA-cam natural hair community. I was overwhelmed at first and know I would have benefited greatly with all of this info in one place. Great job 👍🏾
Queen I'm a 33 year old man transitioning his flat top into better cared for long natural hair. Growing my hair out and trying my best to keep up with the Goddesses in embracing growing and maintaining my crown. Brand new world for me and this vid is vital. Very informative, very well done, cant wait to explore the rest of your catalog. New subscriber. Peace and love...✌✊🙌🙌🙌
Thank you so much for posting this!! I have chemically damage hair and don't know anything about hair. I am mixed so its hard to depend on my mom who doesn't have my hair type , but after this video I learnt a lot about my natural hair. Thank you again !!
Thank👏🏾 you👏🏾 for clarifying that a "Protective style" means protecting your ends cause so many other youtubers with curly hair think that protective styling is a braid or twist out and it's isn't😫
I've been natural almost my whole life. I had it for 18 years, October 2011 i had my first relaxer just because i u wanted to know what it felt like. 😂😂 After 3 years i started transitioning just becauae i rathered my natural hair. I big chopped in January 2015. My hair grew without me taking proper care if it. October 2018 i did a tapered cut on my hair and now May 2020 almost 2 years later my hair is at the lingeat that i have ever seen it. I started following this channel early last year and i have seen a difference in my hair using most of your tips. This video was very informative 👍
I never comment on hair regimentals but I have to say that this is one of the best hair regimental I've ever seen I love how these steps to hair are actually shown whether then just being talked about in a few minutes this is Amazing keep it going Girl Yasss!
I'm a recent subscriber and I'm transitioning to natural right now and your videos are really helpful. Thanks a ton❤ I made sure to have my post notifications on looking forward to more videos🔥♥
Being a Caucasian woman with 3b hair, this is what I have been looking for. Thank you so much! I needed this cause no one explains these terms. God bless!
Lemme tell you about the influence you have on me girl... I’ve been watching you since you first started like 3-4 years ago. literally grew my hair long. And now Shaved it bald bec I stopped taking care of it and my hair ripped off from being so dry😭 so I’m back again to relearn how to grow from the beginning beginning lmaooo, I live and die by your rules girl !!✨💕
Thanks so much for this video bc for the life of me I couldnt figure out TWA until I googled it lol. I didn't hear about the other hair length acronyms yet, but will know them when I hear it lol.
I swear, you are my favorite natural hair beauty queen with how to care for my hair. Not only are you faf, but you know your shit. And this is one of my all time favorite videos of yours. Please keep them coming, oh and I'm about to add you to my snap because you're the 💣. Thank you soooooooo much for your humor and knowledge. #TwelveYearJoyrney 🤗
Awww! I needed this ten (10) years ago. Still learning how to navigate through the good and bad days. I think I've experienced one can throughout these year. Big chopped 9/30/2007
Cute hairstyle and cute makeup look 👍👏🤗. I'm definitely going to continue watching these natural hair videos even though I'm not a loose natural but I do have locs.
Yeah, I just wanna say I appreciate you doing this series because I’m 36 years old and my hair has never done what I wanted to do and hopefully with doing a more natural hair care thing my hair will actually do what I wanted to do as opposed to using all these big chemical products, they just don’t do shit for my hair and leave it dry as fuck
Wow this video is what I needed before I started this whole journey !!! Whew wish I found it earlier but it’s still very useful now I learned tons even though it’s an old video
natural hair: hair whose texture hasn’t been altered by chemical straighteners, including relaxers and texturises. transitioning: process of growing out your natural texture before cutting off the processed or damaged ends. Big Chop: process of cutting off the relaxed or permed ends of one’s hair when she is transitioning from chemically processed hair to natural hair. relaxed hair: a hair relaxer is a lotion or cream that makes the hair easier to straighten and manage. it reduces the curl by breaking down the hair strand and chemically altering the texture. hair porosity: is your hair’s ability to absorb moisture and is broken down into three categories: low, normal and high. low porosity: cuticles are a little tight and pretty resistant to receiving water and moisture normal porosity: holds moisture and shine for an extended period of time. high porosity: hair absorbs product quickly but loses the moisture just as fast. hair density: how thin or thick your hair is collectively. ( thin, medium and thick) hair width: how thick or thin a single hair strand is. ( coarse, medium, fine) slip: the term most naturals use when they are discussing products that help detangle their hair (mostly conditioners); if a product has good detangling properties meaning the consistency of the product helps to loosen tangles along hair strands, then you will hear someone say, “this product has good slip” wash n go: when you wear your hair in its natural curl pattern, without manipulating the style with tools, braids or stretching. Pre Poo: treatment done BEFORE shampooing your hair to help aid against a shampoos tendency to strip hair off its natural oils and moisture. sulfate free shampoo: mild detergents that don’t completely wash away your hair’s moisture. cowash: “short for conditioner only washing”; it means skipping shampoo and relying solely on conditioner. deep conditioning: a hair care practice that can restore and maintain the strength of the hair strand to it can better withstand day-to-day stressors without sustaining damage. protein treatment: boost the hair with variety of nutrients and proteins to help reconstruct and strengthen hair strands; having a protein-packed strands is a good way to maintain your overall hair health. braidout: a way of stretching out your natural hair by braiding it and after the style sets (dries), taking it down. protective style: a style that tucks the end of your hair away from being exposed to damaging agents such as heat, and constant manipulation. curly hair/wash day: the routine you create to manage and maintain your hair before, during and after cleansing your hair. hair regimen: what you do to maintain healthy natural/curly haie. hair types: consist of 4 different hair types/textures TYPE 1: straight hair TYPE 2: wavy hair TYPE 3: curly hair TYPE 4: coily/kinky hair
Thank you for this..I've been natural for 12 years and I never heard "slip" until today I was like what are they talking about hahaha. This is a really great video !!!
Here in 2020 but I’m just starting my curly hair journey and THANK YOU so so so much for this video! It definitely helped me learn the terminology :) Now I’m off to figure out my curl type! Thanks again!
I love that you made this video. This is very helpful for all the natural hair beginners. I've been natural for a year and I didn't even know some of these terms lol.
You're right people skip past natural hair definitions! This was def helpful! Also! I just did my first natural hair tutorial I would love if you checked it out!
The awkward stage is the devil 😭😭 when i cut my hair in 6th grade I couldn't even put it in a fro no more so I had a struggle pony tail and put a hat that looked like my hair (we couldn't wear hats in school) and everyone thought it was my hair😭😭
Halfrican Beaute i've been watching your videos for a longs time and i really like them i just wanted to ask you a whats your hair porosity because i brought all the product that you sugest but im low porosity hair
Hey, I'm a new subbie & I recently did the ''big chop'' (TWA) & I've been binge watching as many vids as I can because I have no idea how to treat my new cut lol. I do wear wigs, but I don't want to just neglect my hair underneath. I'm currently watching your series & it's helping me so much but I do have one question: Do you recommend someone who doesnt color or straighten their hair doing regular protein treatments? And if so, how often should i do them?
i fix hair up and mae it look really nice and decent for an living. all hair need is conditioner. whether leave in or wash. shampoo made for synthetic hairs. and i tell my clients ditch the suave. but if your budget tell u otherwise then so be it. but basically at the end of the day. when the hair is smooth. when it has products gliding through stem root follicle and all the right places. must be nice. well i might have to say.if you dont mind.bhalayam yoga is good.with rubbing the nails.also just like grass has a time to water or itll wither. hair has a clock when its att its growing peak. like approximatle 4 in the morning to 7..but all in all. i love making my clients be repunzal. keep loosing brushes. and pony tail holders & scruntchys. but there you have. good cheers or your good hair journey Siz
