Very nice video ☺️👍🏻 I also do Thrift DIYs or existing items at home sometimes.Right now I'm working on spray painting with Fabric spray paint and adding acrylic paint splatters on my phone cases that were just sitting around . I have one case left to paint which I'm going to try to give it a copper look with a patina and age it some .🤳🎨🖌️✌🏻
I love that you are highlighting your significant other’s interests! Pro tip: no matter what the little voice says DO NOT spray paint clothing while you are wearing it. This tip is brought to you courtesy of my father who in the 80s spray painted tiger stripes on a jumpsuit and himself 😂 also, I got the suva makeup grunge palette and it has made me 20% more of a terror
ha! note taken. also, i'll probably wear gloves next time unless i want to ruin my manicure again :'o) (& YAY!!!!! so glad you're loving it. Those colors are PERFECT for poisonous dark frog vibessss)
I got so surprised when you showed the spray paint in the store, because where I live they're kept in Spray Paint jails and a member of staff has to unlock them and get them out for you 😂 You also have to be over 18 to buy them!
"you can just try stuff" is the best advice ever. I really like your thrift-flips!! I would also love to see more styling videos, if possible (?), like maybe styling some thrifted pieces you already have but don't wear as much -> in new more exciting ways? ❤
Stained glass is a big ole commitment, but another offshoot that requires a bit less of an investment but gives the same effect is glass mosaic. Thrift a glass spherical type of container, like a candle holder, then use smoll pieces of glass, glue it onto the candle holder with spaces between the glass bits, then grout it. I used to do this and it is glorious. (also wear gloves and eye protection, gurl. glass splinters in eyes is not a cool look.)
I have literally two obsessions in my life: Thrifting and rollerskating. So it was a bit magical when these two obbsessions surprisingly met today. Kathleen, thank you so much for your wholesome videos, that are always taking me on a journey and into a happy place for a while :)
My mother who is 68 doesn't have a UA-cam account but wants you to know that she enjoys your films very much. She sends her best wishes from the English countryside.
Your design came out looking SO cool! Something I discovered a year or two ago was that some companies have actually started making spray paint for fabric....I've always wanted to try it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Might be worth looking into!
I would love to see you thrift flip a painting. Maybe get that gallery wall going? I feel like people do the same ideas every time when they upcycle thrift store art and I believe you would flip it on it’s head! 🤡🙃
thanks to your videos ive finally got off my ass about fixing/tweaking my clothes to work for me better (e.g. sewing belt loops onto a skirt, putting paint splatters on a woodstain-spattered t-shirt so it looks deliberate and fun), and have gone for dedicated charity shop/thrifting trips for the first time in years. your enthusiasm and energy is really infectious and i love your sense of style so much :]
Not me finding out that dredge is out from a random aside in your video :O Good Lord, Kathleen, you sweet angel of thrifting and indie fishing horror games!!
I am obsessed with the hand painted sweatshirts from the 80s. Usually floral designs that were front and center. I've only been able to thrift one in my size, but I did find a magazine/pamphlet from the time with instructions on how to diy paint your own. It's on my crafty to do list!
I love this so much. I really like the color choices!! My little artistic goblin self is very inspired! Right now, we have 2 projects going and a 3rd in the works. I just started doing Resin, and I am soooo excited to do more. Also doing an embroidery project for a friend. I had so much fun on our adventures today!!! Thanks for the gum, it was needed! ❤❤
The shirt design came out reaIly well! I could have sworn you said you got a Crikit as a present--maybe you could create stencils using it and spray or sponge paint through them in future?
So one cool thing you should try with spray paint is cutting a stencil from freezer paper. I haven't gotten through the video yet but I wanted to chime in while I could still remember lol
Hey Kathleen, great video as always ☺️ It would be very fun to see you DIY/flip some home decor, like maybe a spray painted/embroidered lamp shade, curtains, or maybe a scrappy little carpet from leftover fabric! Have a great day🍒
i laughed so many times throughout this vid, thank you for the excellent vibes kathleen! the spray paint top came out looking so cool, i love it, and now i’m inspired to thrift flip my own pieces. also love that lil message at the end about just trying things and doing them imperfectly!

really a Sunday highlight to be able to lay down on my couch and watch the latest Kathleen upload. love to see you playing Dredge! 🤓 what do you think so far? also, I love the “just try stuff” mentality. I’m planning to try out applique a la your sweatshirt applique video this week for a bday present for a friend. 👀 I thought the spray paint shirt turned out v cool, and I enjoyed the grindin’ interlude from Gus! power couple!
aw erika, it makes me so happy to know i'm part of your chillout routine!!!! okay so i'm having a lot of fun with dredge... but i can't play it too long because i get STRESSED! haha. i love how it doesn't punish you too badly for messing up, though :o) good luck with your sweatshirt!!! lmk how it goes!!

You NEED an airbrush, use with fabric paint, stencils and resists. Get one that uses paint jars rather than the cup style you showed. It is easier to change colors. Saves time if you don't have to clean the airbrush for each color change. You can also freehand and with practice, make different width lines and shading.
Many years ago ( read the 90s ), my roommate spray painted a shirt for me...as I recall it washed fairly well. It was a Halloween design, so it didn't get washed that often, but it held up well. Also, there is spray fabric paint if you want something made for fabric.
I love the skater shirt it's so cool!! I saw this post on Pinterest about putting an over the top tattoo idea on a piece of clothing like jeans and with an airbrush and some regular paint I think that'd look really neat, I'd love to see what you come up with. Although fabric paint would make it easier so clean! Can't wait for next week
Super fun and cool rollerblade. Good call on the incoming Barbie movie rollerblade renaissance. I foresee 90's neon on the horizon. Would love to see what you'd do with embroidery or screen printing. Maybe some screen prints on top of some funky printed fabric?
@@KathleenIllustrated Totally fair! The set up *is* a bit of effort, but depending on the complexity, you just need a few things, and if you work with water based ink clean up is easy. Another fun thing to do (and even more simple) would be to try block printing with fabric paint on fabric... you can use any interesting shape you find or even carve shapes out of a potato. (Learned that from an old kids magazine 😅)
I'll argue with anyone that your videos are a good time! I'm actually trying to get into foam crafting, I've had EVA sitting in my closet for...far too long. Maybe I'll finally start a cosplay! The shirt turned out great! I love the pop of color so much!
Some macrame attempts for next craft? 👉👈 Like maybe some cool homemade belt ideas, or a choker necklace? Or if you're feeling ambitious, maybe it could be used to connect the lower half of pant legs. Similar to those zip on/off pants legs circa y2k. But cooler? I feel like there's so many options.

all-kindergaten-teacher t.a.t.u cover band is WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF!!!!
Maybe try machine knitting or really whatever you want, I’ll be here for it!
So glad to hear it!!!

I love Brink ❤
I wonder if there’s such a thing as fabric paint spray paint?? It feels like a void in the craft world that oughta be filled. But also airbrushing is V FUN! I used one as a cake decorator and I always felt so fancy
you're so right!!! i've seen a few comments saying that they actually sell it... at Michaels! LOL maybe I missed it??? also.. omg airbrushing a cake sounds INCREDIBLE. now I've GOTTA TRY IT!
i saw somewhere that you can dye fabric with plants by leaving them out in the sun like a cyanotype photo, that could be cool. great video as always!!! :)
oooo interesting! thank you orla!!!
