- Today, the 23rd August, is the 716th anniversary of Sir William Wallace's execution. I was able to visit the Wallace Memorial and the Wallace Well in Robroyston, which are within the Glasgow City Council area. The monument is said to mark the location where Wallace was betrayed and taken prisoner, while he was said to have drunk from the well, while he was in the area.
I have to admit, it took me a while to find both the memorial and the well. Neither were well sign posted. I think that the road that the memorial is on is Lumloch Road, while Wallace's Well is on Langmuirhead Road. I personally think that there should be better signage for both of these monuments.

Thanks for sharing Claire, I didn't get the chance to watch this till today.
That's alright. I just hope that you enjoyed the video.
I've heard of Robroyston, but I had never visited. Somewhere like this needs to be better sign posted and better promoted, especially as it is so historically significant.
I totally agree that it needs to be better promoted. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for sharing this! You have such a beautiful voice, by the way :0)
Thank you. I’m glad that you enjoyed the video.
Your day trips make me happy!
I'm glad that you enjoy my videos.
Thank you,Sharon, that's very kind of you.
And, Wallace fought for his country! Hallelujah!
Yes, he did.
🙂 My Scots ancestors are from Ayrshire, mainly the Kilmarnock area. I believe Ayrshire figures just a wee bit in Wallace history.
I do believe that the family did have ties to Ayrshire. I think that they may have had land in that area.
Your trips make me happy.
I'm glad that you're enjoying them,
William Wallace was a Christian. God lifted him up to lead the nation of Scotland! He was a great leader! I’ve been to the memorial.
It is believed that he nearly became a priest. It does have to be remembered that he was also a brutal person, as so many people were during the Medieval Period.
What is William Wallace’s wife’s name?
Legend says that her name was Marion. But there is no historical, or archaeological evidence that Wallace was ever married.
Marion Braidfute is one name, but a lot of historians question this.
@@davytolmie99 yeah, it has been suggested that the name Marion was used to try and tie Wallace to the Robin Hood legends. That’s the thing about Wallace. There’s so much about him that we don’t know.
