    I bought a dozen of those a year ago off Amazon. Pre-fletched with feathers, not veins. Great price. When I bow hunted with my compound, I would fletch and tip my own arrows. These are done well. Haven’t shot any feathers off. I think I paid about $100 for a dozen. I was making arrows out of bamboo for a while for my recurves and long bow. They shot good, but we’re considerably more heavy than carbons. These shoot faster and are just as true. I do use a more modern tri-blade broadhead or blunts for small game. Great video as usual Lily. 😁👍

    Whenever using glues, be sure to degrease your surfaces with rubbing alcohol. Especially for parts that fit inside other parts, like those inserts. Nothing ruins glue's ability to hold like even the smallest amount of grease or oil from the manufacturer.

    Ah Lilly you could not have posted this at a better time! I was about to myself craft some practice Hunting Arrows for my 45lb recurve that I can shoot at the 3D range. Tip wise I was thinking along the same lines, so thankyou for posting your advice and perspective, it has made me feel more confident over my own decisions. 🙏🏻❤️🏹

    Have you ever tried blinking nocks? There is a switch that activates a blinking light when the arrow is released. Makes it easy to find the arrow and track game in low light.

    I used to compete in archery using my dads recurve bow he got in the mid 70s.
    I was the only one using a recurve. Everyone had compound bows with some kind of trigger system etc. I still won my share. Always liked the recurve.

    Nice! How do you measure for length of your draw? I'm new to archery everything. Also a woman so finding something that's reasonable for a beginner in a survival situation would be really helpful.

    • @phildo87
      @phildo87 2 роки тому +3

      If you have an archery shop near you they have a tool to help you fins out. Another way is to stand with your back to a wall and stretch out your hands and have someone measure from tip too tip of you middle fingers. Then you take that number subtract 15 then divide by half. that will get you close and always lean on the long side because you can always shorten the arrow but cant add back.

    • @ReasonAboveEverything
      @ReasonAboveEverything 2 роки тому +3

      Finger tip to finger tip measured against wall. Minus the handle lenght and devide by two. When you get more experienced you may want to get into snap shooting in which case you simply measure the draw by how much you have drawn back the arrow.

    Lilly, you have a lot of patience😌. I love how you pay so much attention to details.
    I'm so used to "broadhead" hunting points for deer (here in the States), I'd forgotten about the smaller ones. Those would be perfect for small animals and easier and more accurate to shoot! Thanks!

      In the days when concrete bridges were first being developed the Austrians and Germans wouldn't do anything they couldn't calculate and prove on paper. The French were the opposite.....they would build a bridge then fill in the gaps if it shrank.
      The Swiss melded the best of the two ....they calculated everything they could then used good engineering estimates where they couldn't prove it by the numbers.
      Long story short.....Austrians have always been meticulous.

    You certainly know your stuff when it comes to archery, Lilly. I have a couple compound bows but honestly in a survival situation a traditional bow is the best way. Less maintenance. I do flintlock guns but I can see where a bow could be handy. Just not sure how to get started. Bow shops around here do compound bows.

    Lilly es macht einen gewaltigen Unterschied welchen Hersteller du nimmst, nicht nur was die Präzision angeht sondern vor allem die Sicherheit. Mir ist selbst schon ein günstiger Carbonpfeil beim Abschuss gebrochen. Die Spitzen die du verwendest sind auch nicht wie ideal für die Jagd, wenn überhaupt dann nur für Niederwild.

    Excellent content. I'm curious: you used sand paper to rough up the inside of the tube, which gives the glue something to bite on to, why aren't you roughing up the insert as well with sandpaper? In many years of doing projects, where I am gluing two smooth surfaces together, I learned to always rough up both surfaces; it creates more surface area for the glue to bound to.

    When you have problems of the tips constantly coming loose on you there's a thing called plumbers tape you rap about 2 to 3 lb on the threads and then screw it into your bow and they won't vibrate loose or you can take loctite put it on the threads and and get it worked into the threads but do not put it into your bow until after
