This is such a refreshing tech channel. It's nice to see the effort you put in on set presentation and personal presentation. That coupled with direct to the point key information that's easy to understand makes this a winning formula. I find it relaxing watching your videos and I still get the information I need to make my own decisions on products. You deserve more subscribers. Keep up the great work!
Your channel has become my new go to for GPU / tech info. On par with GN, HWUB etc. Which says a lot! The concise, easy to follow, clearly explained information, great comparisons between cards in similar price brackets. Especially the power section, as here in Norway we have similar prices to Netherlands. It has made my purchasing decision easier. Thank you for all the hard work!
It's totally fair to say the 4070ti is the best of the bad choices in the current upper-mid to high end GPU segment. Consumers really need the 7800/7700 cards from AMD and the 4070/4060 from Nvidia to release. I fear that both companies are perfectly happy to delay those cards since consumers are still more than happy to dish out insane amounts of money for the ultra high end. It's still a terrible time for value minded mid range and higher shoppers. The 7900 xtx and 4090 need to sit on shelves before things get better. It's an awful cycle for GPUs. The only exception are the last gen AMD cards (6800/6900) which are getting harder to find.
i fear, that every card that is still to come, will have lower gains. meaning: when a 4070ti is on 3090ti performance, one would expect a 4070, to have 3090 performance or at least, 3080ti, but my guess is, it will land slightly below a regular 3080, and the 4060ti, will just be a bit faster, then a 3070.
I LOVE how you break down every aspect of price. I recently bought the 4070 ti, and it took me so long to work this stuff out for myself before buying (especially since I'm living in the UK), so having it all in a single video is massive for anyone considering this card. Appreciate the work!
I agree. I was buying a new card, hell or high water. I was super irritated to find most of the reviewers I go to for PC building advice seemingly outright REFUSED to give any solid advice for buying a new GPU. For the performance I wanted, this card was the only way I was going to be able to spend less than $1,000 (which kinda sucks) but everybody is saying it sucks and not to buy it. Right now its kind of the best value there is for high performance gaming.
@@travis8106 That's why you do your own decisions. I had a GTX 1080 and recently upgraded to a 1440p / 165Hz monitor so i had to do something and a GTX 1080 wasn't going to cut it so i went with the RTX 4070 Ti and i dont reget it. FAST CARD. Also people talk about the RTX 4070 Ti being 800$ but what they dont talk about to much is the 4080 being 1,200$ which is 400$ higher but they say they both high The 4070 Ti is the best bang for the buck and the sweetspot between what would be a 4070 if it exist and a 4080 which does exist. Can you really complain and people rip on the memory bandwidth but thats not end all be all. Its GPU as a whole that makes up the speed of the card and how fast it is. Lower memory bandwidth means that its been slowed down thus they had to cut something to keep the price. Everything together makes the card speed not just one thing. As memory bandwidth can be even 128 but if the core counts and clock speed is faster you can get the same speed. its all about equaling out from what i learned and i use to be one of those "IM not buying a 192 memory bus" but its when i really studied gpus and realize its everything thats when i changed the way i thought
@@travis8106 Exactly, Its the total speed of the card which is the end goal. And the RTX 4070 Ti is extremely fast. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY faster then my GTX 1080 i had. Did some testing in a few games that i ran with the 1080 and the 4070 smoked all of them with ease without trying. 4080 for 400$ eh and honestly i mean you gain some nice performance but 400$ worth? No ...Same with the i5 13600k to 13700k for 100-150$ extra just for 2 cores, 4threads and 6 cache and you get roughly maybe 10-15 fps. Lol not worth ..
I don't know what's best in this video: the plethora of info neatly laid according to its context or the beautiness of the hostess and its mellow voice... In any case, kudos for @Techtesters and keep up the good work!
I've undervolted my 4070Ti since day one (950mV / 2800 MHz), and not only has the power consumption dropped from ~ 260W down to 170W, but temperatures are often at 50 degrees or less and the fans are virtually inaudible (in fact, the fans don't even start spinning in many games, especially with vsync on). Overall, this card is truly amazing and I'm glad I bought it (even if it's THE MOST expensive card that I've ever purchased in my life - and I've been buying video cards for 30+ years now, my first one being a Cirrus Logic CL-GD5428, on the ancient ISA bus).
@@kiburi2903 I have the Gigabyte RTX 4070Ti Gaming OC (which also comes with a 4 year warranty). The performance loss after undervolting is ~ 2%, which is basically negligible.
@@ruxandy that's awesome bro. I would really love to get one but I think I am leaning more on getting a used 3080 for $545. Still undecided but it will hurt me so bad if the price will go down again in a few months. Got my 3060ti jan last year for $580 bnew and it now sells around $320 used. 😩 Not sure how much I can save on the bill with a 4070ti vs 3080. That's more than 100w difference when undervolted. 🤔
@@kiburi2903 yeah, if you have the option to buy a used GPU from a trustworthy seller... it's definitely an option. I for one only buy used retro GPUs (I'm an avid retro PC collector), but I never buy used GPUs for my daily rig, because I use my main PC for work too (I work with machine learning apps, which is why I absolutely need nVIDIA cards), so I need to minimize the chances of experiencing any downtime because of a bad GPU.
This is a really good video. Direct and to the point, not too saturating with figures (just the ones that we need to know) and great to see power consumption with the actual cost to us as well! 4070 ti pricing sucks but in comparison seems best bang for buck card out there (if that has any meaning nowadays given how high everything is!).
You'll be waiting for the rest of your life. This is the new norm until people just flat out don't buy them. Nvidia got a taste of that pandemic money and now there's no going back for them
yeah, it's not realistic to expect that prices will ever return to what they were. Which is why I also purchased a 4070Ti after years of waiting. Also, in my country it's the best card in terms of value for money that I've seen in the past 3 years. In my neck of the woods, 3080/3090s were never sold below 1500 euros, so having a card that now sells for less than 1000 euros (with a performance, at 1440p, similar to the 3090/3090Ti), naturally seems like a very good deal. Plus, the efficiency of this card is simply outstanding, especially when undervolted (I can't remember the last time I had a card that ran at 50 degrees C, with fans barely audible - probably my fanless GeForce 2 MX 400 that I bought in the year 2000). It is what it is, guys. We must face the facts - these are the new prices for the midrange/enthusiast cards, and they are here to stay. And let's hope that China does not invade Taiwan, otherwise not only will PCs end up costing as much as a new apartment, but at that point we'll worry more about having food on our plates, than playing games...
I'm not sure there will be a crash in GPU prices any time soon. You, me and a great deal many others are waiting for prices to come down before buying. Let's say they dropped $200-$300 tomorrow (which won't happen but...). What would happen?
This is a great summary video. A friend asked me for a recommendation on 4070ti vs 7900XT vs 3080ti recently & amusingly I said pretty much exactly what is in this video, but if I'd seen this earlier I could have just linked this video instead!
Also from the Netherlands and this video is exactly what I was thinking. I've been looking at prices on Tweakers and marktplaats (dutch ebay) for various cards and I've come to pretty much the same conclusion. I was scratching my head with everyone hating on the 4070TI so much thinking I might be an idiot..... Well, 4070Ti it is then. Also, those graphs warm my consultancy heart. Very insightful, finally a reviewer who understands the idea of perspective. Those % of performance charts are a very nice addition. Aaaaanddddd subscribed :)
As of Feb 1, 2023 in Europe, according to GPUtracker (prices including VAT from 113 Eu shops), the cheapest: 1) RTX 4070 Ti is the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Trinity -> 863 euros at ComputerUniverse 2) RTX 4080 is the INNO3D GeForce RTX 4080 X3 -> 1339 euros at Caseking 3) RX 7900 XT is the ASUS Radeon RX 7900XT Gaming RX7900XT --> 929 euros at ComputerUniverse 4) RX 7900 XTX is the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XTX GAMING (AMB model) --> 1163 euros at ComputerUniverse RX 7900 XTX non AMB model --> Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 7900 XTX 1229 euros at ComputerUniverse
I get the negative comments from other reviewers... However, it's easy to say "don't buy this card" when most of them have a pile of high end 3000 series cards accumulating dust on their shelves. I just ordered a Gaming OC at about $950, it will almost double the performance of my RTX 3060 and that will allow me to play 4k with DLSS at last.
I really like the way you look at real world pricing, rather than just using MSRP! The main thing that put me off the 4070 was the lower 12 GB VRAM, that’s the main reason I went for the 7900 XT. I quite often see over 17 GB usage, especially in titles like Microsoft flight simulator which is the main reason I upgraded.
Bought the card earlier this month after watching a few videos on it, this one included. The GPU is super expensive, too expensive. But man is it a good card. Very powerful, very quiet, and very energy efficient. I don't regret paying for it at all.
I have a build in the works right now pairing a 4070ti with a 7700x, and I'm super excited to see what it can do. My current PC is a 8700/1080 that is getting a little long in the tooth for running racing sims in VR. While the new pricing does suck, I don't see it ever going back to "normal". Nvidia and AMD are not going to suddenly drop prices when they've had no problem selling for the past 3 years. We might see small breaks due to competition, but I think we need to get used to this as the new norm, unfortunately.
I can't stress enough that u are one of the only testers that takes energy consumption into the equation. Most testers mention it but handle it more as a afterthought which I simply can't agree with. TL;DR: Great video! Thank you so much.
I upgraded from a EVGA 2080 to MSI VENTUS 3X OC 4070ti for $839 and it's been a giant leap in performance in 1440p easily achieving 180fps or higher on ultra, typically I bump down a couple settings I find useless and run 240fps+ with zero issues, so far definitely worth it. Could is be cheaper, sure, we all want that. Excited to try DLSS 3.0 in Hogwarts: Legacy 👍
Update, Hogwarts legacy is running butter smooth Average FPS: 185 (I capped it at 144) Ocassasinal drop to 148, which is why I capped at 144 for a constant fps rate without latency fluctuations. With driver updates this may get even better! Still over priced and a reminder of them trying to pass it off as a 4080 12g.. I really want to know what it costs to make these gpu's and see what they are up charging. After all its a little die with a few fans stuck to it, no way it costs them much to build. its all about thier " take it or leave it" attitude and them controlling how the gpu performs and what people will pay. No way a 3060 die heat sink and fans cost them literaly a thousand dollars less to make then a 3090.. its just what they want you to think.. also funny how this gen costs so much more after the gpu "shortage", almost like they know people will pay more because they have no other choice. Weird?
nvidia profti margins hover around 60-70% on a single GPU, they could cost half the price and nvidia would still be making a profit. Its a new strategy of theirs to manipulate naming model scheme to charge more and more, started with 2000 series and 4000 series first time for a decade is value regression in main stream segment, 2000 series at least had revolutionary tech like RT and DLSS, 4000 series has nothing DLSS 3.0 is not even closely as revolutionary.
@@randomcheese1719 The pandemic is over, even China has opened back up now, the excuse of lockdowns driving up cost is not valid anymore, there are no reasons for the prices not to normalize, but companies, or rather the investors hate to see decline in revenue after the market boom during the pandemic, they are desperately trying to hike up the prices to mitigate the loss in gross revenue for the year 2023. Enough is enough, most consumers are not stupid.... or maybe they are.
@@versaleyang omg dude, yeah it's over but the supply chain doesn't just recover "just like that". Also, remember China? It wasn't over for them was it? Supply chains for chips and such take months to come back online to full production. They are just NOW starting to. So yeah, this is the reason the prices are so high. Also, AMDs prices are up too, it's not just Nvidia.
@@KryssN1 their margins haven't changed. You are all a bunch of ignorant fools if you think Covid lockdowns didn't severely disrupt the industry. AMDs prices are also up.

I have the Asus Tuff (non OC) model and i paid $799 with free shipping. I am very happy with it. I am currently playing Hogwarts Legacy in 1440 , Ray Tracing and it runs super smooth. I ran it in 4k with DLSS 3, Ray Tracing and G Sync on and again it is super smooth and over 60fps and looks gorgeous
The Palit Gaming Pro OC costs 1014 Euros in Germany. Great video. I'm currently shopping for a 4070ti, because I came to the same conclusions you did even with power consumption. Nice to know I can judge the market like an expert like you can.
I thought that would be an issue too but I got one to replace my 3080 and I’m actually getting way better performance in vr. I seen one Reddit post claiming worse performance so idk what’s goin on there
£££ please ;) Love the electricity graph. No one else seems to consider this! I'm really paying the price to jump to 1440p. My system is going to end up at around £1700 when finished and I have a perfectly adequate 1080p experience with my laptop. I'm essentially going to be paying for 1440p and "RTX on" let's hope it's worth it!
Albeit in VR due to memory bandwidth 3080 is faster. So I think nvidia kind of gave us a compromise of a card. Makes it even worse when it was supposed to be a 4080.
Thanks for the updated video. My 2070 super died and I had to order a new video card this week. I was unable to get a 3080 or 3090 for a decent price even 2 years after their launch. As such, I ended up searching for the 40 series cards and found your video and ultimately ended buying the 4070TI for "only" $829. The 3080s are still selling for $1200 and up on Amazon right now.
All the 3080s were sold out when I was sourcing for my recent build so I went with the 4070ti and I really can't explain how happy I am with this purchase.
@@spacecadetrl Me too, it's BRILLIANT for 1440p gaming. Waaay better than a 3080 too and much cheaper new. Plus DLSS 3.0 is a huge boost when available AND now i can comfortably game with max RTX. Even the 3090 ti and 3080 were just gimmick cards for raytracing but the 4000 series are the first true cards to allow a reasonable gaming experience with RTX.
This 4070 Ti might actually be the Goldilocks gaming GPU. It's got plenty of performance, for a much better value per frame/watt/heat that the others. I've got to admit, I'm a little jelly of your case-filling 4080 Aero, but I've got a 4070 Ti Aero sitting next to me, that might just end up in my case. I bought it, never installed it, then decided I wanted the 4080 instead, so I returned it. Then the next day, what do you know, they had an "Open-Box" deal on a 4070 Ti Aero for $90 less, so I bought it back, haha. I feel dirty, lol.
Follow up. My PC froze on games during intense scenes with the 4070 Ti, and I had to close the game with the task manager and lost any progress that wasn't saved. A few times, the whole PC just shut off completely. So, the 4070 Ti went back to the store. Back to my ultra-reliable 6750 XT for now. Ray tracing looked awesome, with DLSS3, but if the PC freezes, then it doesn't really matter, does it?
I hate how I how to make so many low value choices for my CPU nowadays. Too much power in times of insane power cost, too big and heavy for my case, value, etc etc. Future sucks But thanks as always for indepth info and comparisons. Your videos always go into so much detail in one video that no one else does for average consumer needs.
Thank you again for all your time benchmarking / comparison testing of all this GPU's. It is greatly appreciated as, who could afford buying all of these units to test which one they want / need. Lol. But, again Thank you so very much for all of your testing / comparison videos. Take care & All the best!
I came to the same conclustion last week when i bought one, its the best option for me right now. Glad to see someone doesn't just hate on the card because its slightly overpriced. There just isnt anything better available right now for the 1440p performance it gives at that pricepoint. I'm coming from an rx580 8gb.
I also have a rx 580. I will probly switch to a rx 6700 XT it is great for 1440p you can reduce voltage and frequenzy for exelant Power draw and pay only 350€ if on sale soon. A great Deal.
@@saltshak3r358 nice. I looked at that one too and it has one of the best price to performance ratio but I wanted more performance and try an nvidia GPU. I undervolted the rtx 4070 ti and it is so efficient and quiet, only draws around 200-220 watts :) perfect for my sff build
There is one thing I wanted to add: when I purchased the 4070TI the 7900 XT(X) had a video playback and multi monitor power consumption issue and it will add to your energy bills on the top of your gaming sessions. Maybe they fixed it by now with driver updates, but I haven't heard about it.
The problem I have with the 4070ti is the limited vram. If you look at newer titles such as Hogwart's Legacy, Steve from Hardware Unboxed showed that 12gb vram can barely support 1440p with ray tracing. Also since the tier in performance is around a rtx 3090ti, there no real reason to get a 4070ti. I think saving up a few more dollars here and there and go straight for the 4080 makes more sense. Hopefully they would release a 4080 with a smaller cooler soon so it would fit into most cases.
or simply go with last gen 3090 / Ti .. 24Gb of VRAM.. performs close to or better then the 4070 Ti does cost a little more but is more futureproof, can play titles with RT at 1440p
Mmyeah... a 4080 is about 550€ more (basically the price of a bonus 3060 ti) PLUS power consumption/size/weight. If only the 4070 ti had 16GB VRAM, it would be great. Consider 6800/6900 XT and stuff like that as well.
@@evancycles Honestly, I blame the gamedev. Whats next? Next year, we need 128gb of ram to run games?? Instead of us buying more expensive hardware, they should optimize the software.
Found a 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio available for $800 and was torn if I wanted to go with it for my new big upgrade, and this video helped me decide to pull the trigger and buy it. Gonna be upgrading from a 3060... more than double the performance! So excited!! 😁 Thanks and keep up the great work on these videos. 👍
NICE, I upgraded from a GTX 1080 to a 4070 Ti which is huge for me as well which also i didnt pay attention to these diss videos of the 4070 Ti and imo its the sweet spot for 1440p gaming with high refresh rates and can dap into 4k a little bit with DLSS 3 turned on.
@@MrEL91N Yea. The 4070 Ti is pretty strong and with the 4080 only giving 15-30 fps more for 400$ extra, that should tell you how strong the gpu really is. It knocks @ 1440 and can do high refresh rates nicely with no problem a lot better then my gtx 1080 ever could do games like mortal kombat 1. D4 and other new titles bring them on and unoptimized games don’t count as I look at those as devs working with gpu companies to get you to upgrade quicker end of the day it’s a business and when you play a game like that it makes you look at your gpu funny which it might not even be a need to upgrade just bad port
I recently bought Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB for 65 euros. In my country that's the best card you can get currently for that price. I cleaned it and it's working great. New cards are too expensive.
Festinating update. Appreciate all the effort putting everything together. For now, going from a 3080 to a 4070Ti or anything else for that matter doesn't make sense until you shared the energy aspect which makes for an interesting conversation. Thank you.
@@VintageCR Nah that’s not “reality”, that’s just Europe. US still has great energy prices, hopefully the friends across the pond can figure out how to get theirs down.
good point of views, thanks. To me if you like Ray Tracing 4070 Ti is very good performance for a not bad price, and i decided I will go with RTX 4070Ti. If you dont care about Ray Tracing go with RX 7900 XT (which is very similar price with 4070 Ti) or RX 7900 XTX which is a little more expensive. if you wanna have the best then 4080 and 4090 are the best GPUs around for today and the most expensive ones of course.. On the flip side, 30 Series are nearly dead, last days until 4060 will be announced, if you are buying a gaming PC for your 4 years old child, then still you may choose 3060, 3060 Ti
If I was in the sub 1000 dollar range I would probably buy a used 3080 for ~600. Other than the 4090 there is no defending any of these cards at their MSRP. The 4070ti would've been a great purchase for 600 dollars and the 4080 would've been great at 800-900. For AMD the 7900XT should've been 600 dollars and the XTX should've been 800.
High quality video. I especially liked the energy cost tables. It was an interesting and valid point that I didn't see anywhere else. Another similar point is that GPUs like RX 7900 XTX, RX 6900/50, RTX $4090, RTX 3080 required a more powerful PSU (850W/1000/W) and for some people that means a few hundred more bucks, if they have to switch from what they currently own. Which is adding to the value calculation.
Sad that there is so little difference, between them all. But you explained better than I have seen before, which I should buy, if I can find it. Thanks.
Look at it like this, 899 for a 4070 Ti 1,200 for a 4080 Which one seems like the better deal, People rip on the 4070 Ti making the 4080 look good. I mean yea they both might be a little high but one is the best bang for the buck. Clearly for 1440p / 144hz and that has DLSS 3 / Frame generation and can hang in there @ 4k. Can you really complain?
I just bought a prebuild on sale with a Ryzen 9 7900, a 4070 TI and very reasonable specs for only 1600 Euros. Great deal considering the GPU alone can be had for 900 Euros.
I reckon nvidia mucked up the tiers. Based on specs, the 4070 ti should be the 4070, the 4070 should be the 4060 ti. The 4060 ti should be the 4060 and the 4060, a 4050
I'm just glad I got my reference XTX at MSRP without vapor chamber issues, since it's still easily the best deal of this generation so far. And yes, I mean at 4K. Prices like this don't make ANY sense for just 1440p. 🤷🏿♂️
In Canada Suprim X is $1329, Tuf is $1159 and the Gigabytes are actually on Sale $100 off depending on Model... Aorus Elite/Master/Gaming OC are $1199/$1249/$1099 ($100off) and Aero is $1199 regular price... which would you suggest? I noticed you didn't mention "Boost" speeds, but if they tend to stay within the same range, I might grab a Gaming OC as the cheapest after sale price, but that Elite/Master models look so good, plus LCD on the Master.
@@Str8b8ed People being stupid and paying what was MSRP for a now almost 2 1/2 year old used card doesn't change the fact that this is overpriced. the 4070ti should be in the same price range as the 3070ti was, which was a $600 card, currently it's a 33% price bump for the same tier card, Nvidia simply went way to greedy with the 40 series cards. 1070ti $450, 2070 super $500, 3070ti $600, 4070ti $800, at the rate they are going by the time we get to the 60 or 70 series the xx70ti is going to be like $2000
@@sandrahiltz You can call it “people being stupid” but it is the reality. Its not about tier its about performance. 4070ti is a name for a card that is 15-20% better than a 3080ti that retailed for $900 and sold out instantly at that price. The 3090 retailed for 1500 and this card is neck-and-neck with it at 150 watts less unless you are doing serious video editing. Why would Nvidia sacrifice their profit to scalpers that would price the card the same way? If they did, you wouldn’t be able to get one.
@@Str8b8ed Yes, every new generation is faster than the previous one, that's how it works, that's not justification for continual grossly increasing prices, it's non-sustainable price gouging behavior which is evident by the fact that GPU sales have tanked, you can go to retail stores and they have stacks upon stacks of 4070ti cards cause people really aren't buying them, heck my local Microcenter has about 100 of them in stock, they are simply too expensive for the tier card they are.
@@sandrahiltz It isn’t that people aren’t buying them, it is that scalpers are not hoarding them because they are now priced according to what they are worth in an open market. I am confused. Do you want these to be out of stock 24/7 to prove their worth? Because if they were priced any lower than they are now, that is what they would be. I do not mean to make assumptions but I would say that you were also one to be upset when the 30 series cards were always sold out and sold at a premium on the open market. Yes, the 3070ti had a $599 MSRP but it absolutely NEVER actually sold for that to anyone who wasn’t botting the retailers. For some reason, microcenter is selling their 4070ti’s for around $25 more than newegg is. Cards are indeed selling out on Newegg. The suprim OC PCB is sold out on both Newegg and MSI’s website and they were cheaper than MicroCenter’s.
I've got a newly built computer sent to me by a profesional company and my 4070 TI is not recognizeble by the computer and the only way to get picture on a monitor is to connect the HDMI cable directly to the CPU GPU connecting it on the motherboard. Do you know if there is any bugs related to this with the 4000x series?
Tbh it feels like they didn't build it correctly or sent something broken. I've never heard of a "bug" like this and your comment makes me doubt how professional that company is ;)

@@BadEditsReal worst for you and not my problem I was trying to give you an advice to improve your experience. Also whit my set up (4090+5800x3d on a neo g9) I could not care less. But I will try to help someone clearly having an unbalanced experience (before the 5800x3d I was using a 5600x and i can ensure the experience was not even close to the upgrade; I went up from 15 to 30fps and a way more stable frametime). @@octoman_games yeah, and you know, *at least* the Ti version should have had 16GB no excuses, and the standard 4070 12GB, that would have been the bare minimum, but it's Ngreedia so 🤷♂️
Fantastic thorough review, so much thought and effort into your videos! PS Feel the same way about the 4070TI, a powerful card with a swallowable price.
Did you change your sound testing process/equipment on your 4070t i super video? Just noticed the testing in this older video had much higher noise for all cards? Yet ones like the 4070 ti vs ti super should have the same cooler and therefore noise? No?
Yeah, if it will work for 0.5 year then flawlessly then it will probably work until end of times. Got 580 and 770 stil, those are over decade old. But 4070 is not out yet and that will be direct competitor to 3080, we should be seeing lower MSRP than what 3080 was going for 3 years later. So like 499-549$ MSRP, would expect for that, so in EU it will still be akin to 599-649EUR.
The 4070 Ti trades blows with the 3090, but loses to the 3090 Ti at 4K res. While being an improvement, it won’t be as big as say going from a 2080 Ti. I’d wait for the 50 series.
If you plan to game at 4K, then in my opinion 10GB VRAM is not enough and even 12GB is cutting it close for next 2 years. Also specificly in VR 3080 is faster than 4070Ti due to memory bandwith .
It's a good price. The MSRP was 699,00 € when it came out new, before it quickly turned into to stupidity pricing. So you basically getting a used card for 199,00 € less then it was realy supposed to cost. So it's kind of a fair price.
@@KryssN1 Man I don't know how you got the idea that the 4070 will be as expensive or cheaper than the 3080 back than. I highly doubt that. I think its more likely going to have an MSRP of 750,00 € - 850,00 €. In fact the 4070 Ti is at 950,00 €. Nvidia and AMD have already proven that they don't care about gamers, but unreasonable profit out of greed. Not to mention that they would still make a lot of profit if the prices would be lower.
The energy prices that u mentioned in those graphs, do they take into account ( resolution/graphical settings ) ... i mean, low vs medium vs high at 1080p for instance ... and the same tests for resolutions ( 1080p, 2K, QHD WQHD and 4K ) ?!
Thankyou for another short & sweet viji🙏. You are appreciated. I would love to have a 4070ti, I’m an AMD fanboy but Nvidia has outstanding drivers & software. Alas, I wouldn’t pay these criminal prices if I managed a hedge fund!
Do the cheaper variants of the same card run hotter and louder due to their smaller heatsinks? For example does the Gigabyte Eagle 4070 ti run hotter and louder than the Gaming OC and the Aorus?
Hardware Unboxed showed the Eagle actually ran cooler than their MSI model. Despite it being cheaper. And all of these are super cool while gaming, because the coolers are designed to handle like 280w, but most games don't pull even 230w. Only if you use full RT and DLSS will get to like 280w like shown here in Cyberpunk do you get close. It's not worth spending more than the cheapest model unless you want to OC them manually for like 5% more performance.

Performance, cooling, and power are not the only thing to consider when selecting models. Would be good to know if there are different components used on the board (ie memory chips). As an example, when the 30 series boards launched, the cheaper board partners tried to save pennies by putting cheaper capacitors on the board. This lead to crashes and poor quality fixes that degraded performance. Other manufacturers went overkill on their boards and it made for a much more robust product. Of course, without complete tear downs of each board, its hard to know who is on the up-and-up.
Even with a complete teardown it's going to be a difficult, if not impossible discussion about who built it better. Generally cheaper boards use NV spec, some more expensive options build it out on their own, but I don't think I've ever seen any evidence that that'll actually make their GPUs last longer. Especially with these low power ones.
In Sweden, today, the difference between XT and 70Ti is 20€ (after tax) more expensive for the 70Ti. To be honest though, I'm leaning towards 70Ti since it has lower power draw + no (or substantially less) coil whine. The only thing I'm worried about is the low amount of memory, the XT has substantially more. But I don't know. I feel like AMD kinda screwed up this generation. I will probably wait for the 70 though and see how that performs.
Well here in Germany the 7900XT is currently actually cheaper than the 4070Ti due to the 4060Ti launch. (819-899 for the majority of the 7900XT, eith a few outliers at 939 and 1139 the latter being the Asrock. The 4070Ti stsrts a 889 and ends ends at 1479, with the majority being between 889 and 1059.) Even custom boards like the XFX 7900XT MERC 310 or it's Black Edition are cheaper and that one has a very effective cooler. Only some 7900XT like the Powercolor Hellhound or Red Devil cost as much as a 4070Ti, despite utterly clobbering them in rasterizing. The coil whine seems to be PSU specific, with Corsair PSU owners having less trouble.
Is palit (gamerock, not gamingpro) a good deal? Some of my friend says they dont like this brand, but 4080 palit gamerock seems fantastic in my opinion. Its just an overkill for me, so im going to buy 4070ti. I just dont know which brand.
RTX 4080 4k, 50% more $, for 20% FPS gain, and uses less power, it sounds like the RTX 4070ti isn't as bad as they say. Not bashing the 4080, it's a great card, but I don't think the RTX 4070ti is a bad card at a terrible price, given what other new gen cards are selling for.
Right, I said the same between the 4070 Ti and 4080 your getting roughly 15-30 frames and sometimes less for 400$ thus to me its not worth it even with its extra vram 4070 Ti gets you pretty much close to there without spending 400$ extra and @ 1440p and high refresh rates you will be just fine I seen it coming a mile away when i was in between picking a 4070 Ti & 4080 and went with the 4070 Ti and i dont regret it. Sorta the same decision when i had the GTX 1080 and upgraded to a RTX 2080 for a short time years ago which i returned and kept the 1080. Deja vu all over again RTX 2080 was a small tad bit stronger but not for its asking price back then and the same thing is happening with the 4070 Ti & 4080 like the performance is that close in alot of benchmarks
I can get the 7900 XTX for the same price as the 4070 Ti in our country ( HU) Which makes no sense to me , but the power consumption of the 7900 XTX would cost me a new PSU as well so there is that
Sticking with my 6800xt as I never turn RT on. In rasterization this card is the equivalent of my overclocked 6800xt in most games. Great video, thanks for posting.

Yes, sick of USA MSRP this and that.
Agree.
I liked the cost table, I think its very relevant now since GPUs are so hungry for power and the cost of electricity is so expensive right now
It's totally fair to say the 4070ti is the best of the bad choices in the current upper-mid to high end GPU segment.
Yes very bad year
@@SirWolf2018 years*
i fear, that every card that is still to come, will have lower gains. meaning: when a 4070ti is on 3090ti performance, one would expect a 4070, to have 3090 performance or at least, 3080ti, but my guess is, it will land slightly below a regular 3080, and the 4060ti, will just be a bit faster, then a 3070.
skip this gen and get 30 series !
I threw my 6800XT in the junk parts drawer when I got my 4070ti
FAST CARD. Also people talk about the RTX 4070 Ti being 800$ but what they dont talk about to much is the 4080 being 1,200$ which is 400$ higher but they say they both high
The 4070 Ti is the best bang for the buck and the sweetspot between what would be a 4070 if it exist and a 4080 which does exist.
@@DETERMINOLOGY People are definitely tunnel visioning the memory bus, but this thing is fast as hell, and thats all that matters
@@DETERMINOLOGY Enjoy your card, I'm happy for you that you're able to have this kind of power in your build

One of my favorite hardware channels along with Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus. Thank you for the content!
It would be cool to see undervolted power consumption or with locked fps to monitor's refresh rate
@@ruxandy which model do you have? And how much % of performance did you lose from the undervolt if any..? TIA ✌️
4070 ti pricing sucks but in comparison seems best bang for buck card out there (if that has any meaning nowadays given how high everything is!).
you mean worst buck for the bang.
Gpu prices are absurd. I think ill wait till they get to a reasonable state
you may be waiting for ever, intel appears to be the only thing that may change that
You'll be waiting for the rest of your life.
As of Feb 1, 2023 in Europe, according to GPUtracker (prices including VAT from 113 Eu shops), the cheapest:
1) RTX 4070 Ti is the ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Trinity -> 863 euros at ComputerUniverse
2) RTX 4080 is the INNO3D GeForce RTX 4080 X3 -> 1339 euros at Caseking
3) RX 7900 XT is the ASUS Radeon RX 7900XT Gaming RX7900XT --> 929 euros at ComputerUniverse
4) RX 7900 XTX is the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XTX GAMING (AMB model) --> 1163 euros at ComputerUniverse
RX 7900 XTX non AMB model --> Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 7900 XTX 1229 euros at ComputerUniverse
For MFS2020, big mistake to have taken an AMD gpu
@@Ez0X_9S I’m very happy with the performance so far, can you explain?

You see 17GB because a portion is cached, the same applies to Windows. You might have 32GB RAM and it caches like 17,5GB (like in my case right now)
Bought the card earlier this month after watching a few videos on it, this one included.
Well-done. I enjoy the detailed and practical info you consistently provide in your vids. Thank you - subbed.
Awesome video! I'm really happy with my RX7900XT. Energy is super cheap here.
Yeah, You should play Hogwarts or Fortnite with Ray Tracing on with it. They look AMAZING and are night and day over playing with it off

Weird?
their margins have not changed, the covid lockdowns have driven the cost of everything up. Not just manufacturing, but the entire supply chain.
nvidia profti margins hover around 60-70% on a single GPU, they could cost half the price and nvidia would still be making a profit.
Word on the street is that some use cases are actually hurt by the 4070 ti's lower bandwidth, such as VR.
Spot on!
I thought that would be an issue too but I got one to replace my 3080 and I’m actually getting way better performance in vr. I seen one Reddit post claiming worse performance so idk what’s goin on there

Love the electricity graph.
Where I am the 4070ti is now cheaper than most 3080 and 3090Ti, so not the worst buy if you need to upgrade desperately
Albeit in VR due to memory bandwidth 3080 is faster.
So I think nvidia kind of gave us a compromise of a card.

Future sucks
But thanks as always for indepth info and comparisons.
Maybe they fixed it by now with driver updates, but I haven't heard about it.
yes they did
The problem I have with the 4070ti is the limited vram.
@@VintageCR or simply lower some graphic preferences down from Ultra, and/or use DLSS 3 for the most demanding new games.
@@evancycles Honestly, I blame the gamedev. Whats next? Next year, we need 128gb of ram to run games??
Instead of us buying more expensive hardware, they should optimize the software.
They all still cost more than the rest of my computer
Welcome to pc gaming
Let me guess. 5600 cpu rtx 3050 gpu
It costs more than a scalped PS5 too 😂
I would love to see more 4070 ti cards from other AIB tested and compared. And the lower end cards too e.g. Gigabyte Eagle, Inno3d x3 oc, Galax etc.
Found a 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio available for $800 and was torn if I wanted to go with it for my new big upgrade,
and this video helped me decide to pull the trigger and buy it.
Gonna be upgrading from a 3060... more than double the performance! So excited!! 😁
Thanks and keep up the great work on these videos.
I went from a Zotac 3060 OC edition to a ASUS TUF 4070Ti and I could not be any happier. Massive improvement.
This was a great video. Really appreciate the effort that went into it as I'm shopping for a GPU. Thanks
Excellent analysis! Please keep doing videos like this one! 😀
I recently bought Sapphire Pulse RX 580 4GB for 65 euros. In my country that's the best card you can get currently for that price. I cleaned it and it's working great. New cards are too expensive.
Not a bad deal :D
you couldn't find the 8GB variant?
As always very nice video.
Thank you!
Festinating update. Appreciate all the effort putting everything together. For now, going from a 3080 to a 4070Ti or anything else for that matter doesn't make sense until you shared the energy aspect which makes for an interesting conversation. Thank you.
Thanks! I guess if you can sell the RTX 3080 for a lot, it might be worth it? Otherwise, I guess I'd hold on a bit longer.
Wait for 50 series, 3080 is still so good
It’s not a bad deal for professionals, it’s the best card in that price by a lot. AMD si not every good for video and 3D.
those power prices are absolutely criminal
welcome to reality. i hope you'll stay a little longer so we can both enjoy these insanely inflated prices on just about everything.
@@VintageCR
Nah that’s not “reality”, that’s just Europe.
Awesome channel. QUALITY!
What a great round-up, thank you.
pt. 5 of me watching videos on products i already own in order to validate my frivolous spending
Is it a good deal to rather buy rtx 3080 for 600 eur or rtx 4070 ti for 1000 eur? Is the 4070ti worth of that extra money?
Luckily I'm one of this people who play on 1080p. I'm safe.
Thanks.
Great video, really liked the power draw cost example per region.
Thanks! Now i feel so much better about my tuf 4070 ti. I also got it for 989€ which doesnt seem to be a bad deal compared to the others.
Look at it like this,
899 for a 4070 Ti
1,200 for a 4080
Which one seems like the better deal, People rip on the 4070 Ti making the 4080 look good. I mean yea they both might be a little high but one is the best bang for the buck. Clearly for 1440p / 144hz and that has DLSS 3 / Frame generation and can hang in there @ 4k. Can you really complain?
@@DETERMINOLOGY that's true. The 4080 is at least 1300€ where i'm from.. but sometimes i wonder if the radeon 7900xtx would have been a better choice
@@Mustis91 Maybe, But DLSS 3 is where i would split and go NV. Amd cards are ok but they always fall #2nd imo
Really really useful and informational review!
Definitely needs a price cut, maybe at $650-700, but $800 is where I say yeah, I'm still good with my RX 5700XT
People are happy to spend 650-700 for a mined on, dusty, out of warranty 3080 on eBay and you want a 4070ti for this price?

Fantastic thorough review, so much thought and effort into your videos! PS Feel the same way about the 4070TI, a powerful card with a swallowable price.
This is exactly the video I've been looking for. Very well organized and super helpful!
Did you change your sound testing process/equipment on your 4070t i super video? Just noticed the testing in this older video had much higher noise for all cards? Yet ones like the 4070 ti vs ti super should have the same cooler and therefore noise? No?
The Ti uses more power and that means the same design will usually make more noise and/or run a bit warmer.
Is a RTX 3080, with one and a half years of warranty left, for €500 a good buy at this point in time in your opinion?
It assumes a GPU bound scenario. It’ll depend on your CPU when that happens, but generally when gaming at higher resolutions and/or settings
With an MSRP $200 more than that of 3070 Ti, of course 4070 Ti doesn't deserve any praises.
Pero que buen video, justo lo que buscaba para decidirme por una u otra. Muchas gracias por la info.
Great video, awesome analysis.
I think we should all go play outside until GPU prices come back down to reality .

Could you do some CPU scaling and show if this makes a good card for older PCs when you use Frame Gen
Thankyou for another short & sweet viji🙏. You are appreciated.
I would love to have a 4070ti, I’m an AMD fanboy but Nvidia has outstanding drivers & software.
Alas, I wouldn’t pay these criminal prices if I managed a hedge fund!
I got my msi 4070ti ventus 3x for 1045€ in Greece, the same 4080 model costs 1545€... 500€ difference wtf
@@eugkra33 its more like 10%. thats significant.

The 4070Ti stsrts a 889 and ends ends at 1479, with the majority being between 889 and 1059.)
Even custom boards like the XFX 7900XT MERC 310 or it's Black Edition are cheaper and that one has a very effective cooler.
Only some 7900XT like the Powercolor Hellhound or Red Devil cost as much as a 4070Ti, despite utterly clobbering them in rasterizing.
The coil whine seems to be PSU specific, with Corsair PSU owners having less trouble.
"Extra year of warranty" - that aspect is way too often not talked about enough (or even mentioned at all).
Is palit (gamerock, not gamingpro) a good deal? Some of my friend says they dont like this brand, but 4080 palit gamerock seems fantastic in my opinion. Its just an overkill for me, so im going to buy 4070ti. I just dont know which brand.
Palit is a very good brand and if you like the design go for it
msi also comes with an extra year of warranty here in Germany at least (=3years instead of 2)
All have 3 years here in NL iirc. Gigabyte offers 4.
how about today? I'm considering a build with 4070 Ti paired with i5-13600K
RTX 4070 is probably the better deal, but if you can afford the Ti I don't see why not.
Right, I said the same between the 4070 Ti and 4080 your getting roughly 15-30 frames and sometimes less for 400$ thus to me its not worth it even with its extra vram
4070 Ti gets you pretty much close to there without spending 400$ extra and @ 1440p and high refresh rates you will be just fine
I seen it coming a mile away when i was in between picking a 4070 Ti & 4080 and went with the 4070 Ti and i dont regret it. Sorta the same decision when i had the GTX 1080 and upgraded to a RTX 2080 for a short time years ago which i returned and kept the 1080. Deja vu all over again
RTX 2080 was a small tad bit stronger but not for its asking price back then and the same thing is happening with the 4070 Ti & 4080 like the performance is that close in alot of benchmarks
Is the noise levels can be taken as an serious issue in gaming oc?
