I love this Superman.
Black Manta and Aquaman look great. Definitely getting both of them.
The hate in the comments is real. I guess this line wont survive to long thanks to people hellbent on mixing with legends...thanks guys. Another great line canceled because your batman cant fight captain America. "Icons are to tiny no thought cut" canceled at its peak. "Essentials have better articulation but are to big and have bad paint, no accessories." Soon to be cancelled. Dc collectibles will be going back to just doing statues soon. Thank you Jay c for getting the scale point across that people just refuse to understand.
I bought Deathstroke, and the quality isn't very good, the joints get really loose as soon as you use them. I'd agree with you about the scale if the figures were worth the $30 price
@@bthebat1162 I guess I've been getting lucky. I haven't gotten any with lose joints. Actually my batman had a tight joint I had to break free. My deathstroke didnt have that overlaying mesh paint. Everything was solid. I have this wave waiting for me at bbts they're only $30 at comic shops. Get them online they're the same price as legends
@@TheDARKNESS8030 hmm, I might try to get Black Manta, since he's the only one with a right gripping hand, but the ones at my comic store had paint defects at the helmet
If people want them Legends scale it's there own fault for not delivering
When they announced Icons, I was very angry about the scale, it was the only problem I saw, but when I bought the first one, I fell in love and completed the line. I was very angry when they canceled it, they said it was because of poor pre-sale but they chose to launch a Static Shock figure, which few wanted, about the pack of Booster and Blue Beetle, which we all wanted, that's bad strategy, they thought they would sell a lot of SS for the series and it was not like that.
When they announced Essentials, the first thing I noticed was the poor proportion of the bodies, but even so it seemed to be good. Then there were more complications: they change, and then canceled the stages, they changed figures (like Superman rebirth to classic), the characters announced in the first wave were the same as Icons, they canceled the extra hands, they do not have accessories, they are badly painted, the joints are loose, etc. etc etc , the problem is not the fans, it is DCC that does not listen. Dcc cancels lines and figures constantly for a long time, is inconstant and that keeps the collector away. I name some lines canceled: tv series, dc films, icons, n52, designers series, multiverse 3.75 "... Dc Films just released 2 figures! They have no idea what to do or what the fans want.
Always thought DC was the Diamond Select equivalent to DC Comics Action figures... you know, larger.... kinda had been out of the loops for a couple of years... didn’t know they went smaller... stopped buying DC Direct product after constant breakage of figures...
Dayum they are not compatible with marvel legends , but you use pose them.with your dc direct stuff.......I might one or two

@@bravehardy3870 yep, and I saw the multiverse line at Walmart and I'm afraid their promises weren't kept the paint is horrible, and the joints still haven't caught up to legends
I have all the figures from the first wave and just recently picked up Black Manta, Superman and Brainiac and I can honestly say that these figures are amazing both in scalpt and articulation and well worth the money if you're a DC fan. All the whining is getting old. If you don't like the figures don't buy them and STFU already.
I just can't accept the fact that Flash is taller than Superman and Batman.
He isn't. I have them both, and they're the same size - it's the camera slant that makes Flash look taller.
Even if they’re the same size, that’s still not the scale that I want to see. Flash should be shorter than Superman, end of story.
Are the DC Essentials considered to have better articulation than the DC Icons? They look pretty close but I'm not sure.
They should make DC Essentials Deluxe figures with a ton of accessories

Can someone let me know if the DC collectible lines for arrow, the flash, legends on tomorrow, and supergirl were canceled? I really enjoyed that line and i cant find any news on it
I miss DC Direct as that was closer so Marvel Select. All Direct needed was ankle pivots and hips.
It feels as if DC Essentials and Multiverse are the same thing, except Multiverse has more accessories.

@Jay C, you have a point on the scale. HOWEVER, I find these "7-inch" essentials look to small to fit in with my older DCC & DC Direct. Just another disappointing experiment from DCC. Good thing they'll be cancelled soon (based on DCC's track record)
It look like in the video, Superman is shorter than Flash, Reverse Flash and possible Batman. It's not a big deal for I want this base body to be used for Captain Britain for my MLs. I may grab Deathstroke instead since he has less to take off the body and I get two cool accessories. Thanks for the comparison.

No one says anything abt the direction his hair is going I know it’s a minor detail but still
for that price that comes with no accessories, no extra hands, no extra head (eg. for varied facial expressions/heat-vision face) and reusing the same body bold... hopefully Mattel delivers with their SDCC reveals and then DC Collectibles should just cancel this line immediately...
the last waves of DC Icons were the best in the line and they just canceled it lol... to those saying that DC Icons were too small, Icons actually scale very well to (true) six-inch scale figures from Figma/S.h. Figuarts

Good review Jay C and the figures look good but gotta correct you on the ridges on the Superman. Those weren't left over from the New 52 suit it was from his Rebirth suit since Rebirth Superman is the original Superman not the Rebirth one. Since DC rebirth started with the original Superman dressed up in his black suit and later adopted the new suit. Which you also mistaken the DC Multiverse figure Superman as the New 52 Superman not the Rebirth Superman.
Only thing I don't like is the ancles you have to choose up and down or side to side by turning the joint

I’m not supporting this line. If only DC Icons were a little bit taller they would’ve been the perfect counterpart to Marvel Legends. These figures aren’t necessarily bad, but they don’t do anything particularly well and, for the price, I don’t see too much value.
DC icons didn't need to be taller. they were in good scale with rest of the world...i mean imports and they also had some of that import quality. they simply fucked up. i was really interested in the line when they did the 7 pc set and thinking they would start to have those individually, but now...not even close.

Exactly, if the Icons line had continued and had been made extensive enough in the end people would have accepted it. That line had to live within its own scale. I think taht It was a mistake to change the scale in the Rebirth League Pack and some characters (like Nightwing that is higher than Batman). The Icons had good quality, and they were well elaborated, the accessories were great. The characters that canceled would have attracted several collectors, we all wanted those Etrigan or Booster and Blue Beetle figures. In fact, the pack of Supersons and Superman Doomsday had already captured several collectors.

I’ll pick up only Superman because he’s the closest figure we can get to get a classic, well articulated Superman figure and I can get pass that he’s taller than Cap Wolf Captain America but for the rest of the line so far, ehhhhhh...
The lack of accessories and extra hands are disappointing, especially with that price they’re selling for.
Hopefully they’ll make an accessory pack like they did with DC Icons.

Dang it DC, Flash taller than Bats and Sup? They make so many lines because they can’t get any of em right! Dc Icons articulation was a disappointment and their proportions were so bad- “Shrunken-head Superman”. Was looking forward to this line but not anymore.

I am happy to read that many prefer the Icons line, that this one.
I do not hate Essentials, but it is a fact that is badly elaborated. When you have a Icons in your hands, you realize that it is a well-made figure that was thought out and very well executed. The sculpted is great, the paint is perfect, the quality is good and the accessories are well chosen, but
above all, they had a concept: they were an iconic representation of the character in a certain comic.The scale? It is different, but if the line grows enough it does not need to fit in with others.
What is the concept of Essentials? what is essential to have the same representation of the entire Justice League launched in the previous line, for example?
That's the problem with these figures they all use the same mold.
What a pity. They ruined it. The last wave was better. The giraffe's neck, the woman's lips and the badly painted superman's belt.
Saying this lines name is like reading a prescription bottle. Jesus Christ. Too small too big Goldie Locks story. And they still missed the mark. I want cap fighting/teaming with Batman. Swing and a miss.
dc essentials is not made to fit with marvel legends and honestly it doesnt have to its a dc line not a marvel one
E icons wasn’t scale and that was canceled. Why? A good portion of the market disagree with you. A good portion of the market that mattered enough to cancel icons.
The Aquaman figure of 2011 DC essentials is better than this one, I mean the face sculpt, muscles. Articulation is better in this one

no additional hands? wtf? i like marvel and dc but i can't bring myself to buy dc line up with so many in consistent scale sizes and no additional hands. marvel legends is killing it right now and is all i collect .
Since I already own these figs from days past, I can't see investing in same figures with upgraded specs, sticking to marvel legends creativity, and multiverse when they are wanted.
Why is The Flash is taller then Superman.?! Dc collectibles never get the characters scale side.!! I hate Dc collectibles so much they they canceled their stuff you know you never get nothing right. 😡🤬

This new male body DC Collectibles is using is the equivalent of Hasbro' s Bucky-Cap mold. So uncreative & lame , especially using it for each male character.
These are so underwhelming...Black Manta is the best one. Icons were much better.
no accessories = meh....not remotely interested. i'm a bigger fan of DC Justice League than Marvel outside of MCU, but all DC figures have been thoroughly disappointing other than the DCEU Mafex figures and SHF.
DC Rebirth is trash.
You're both wrong. DC Rebirth is quite good. The creative direction that has been taken with many of the titles is really interesting and the creative teams really have a feel for the characters that they are working with. Likewise, Marvel has actually been quite good as well since its recent relaunch. I don't know if the people spouting this nonsense are people that stopped reading a while ago (I don't blame them ), but Marvel has been absolutely killing it the past few months.

I watched a video that claimed, and was pretty convincing, that these were made of clear plastic. Could you clarify this? Because if so this line is a joke. They all use the same buck (Dr Manhattan has stretches of clothing on him) they have sloppy paint apps, wonky proportions, and hardly nothing in the way of accessories. I get they wanna keep the price down, but isn't clear plastic dirt. And I thought they stoped using it. How much cost cutting are they doing? No accessories, the same buck, no more face printing, and possibly clear plastic. I get there was not enough retail intrest in Icons, but quality, sculpting and their genrel astetic is just, in my opinion, way better. I got about 75 percent of them, and I love them. I dont care that they're shorter, and I dont care that these are huge. I just want somthing quality. Neca dose quality stuff for reasonable, if not great prices. Aren't they a company compareable in size to DCC? Sorry for the rant, I just wanted to put my thoughts out their again, especially if these are made of clear plastic.
Yep it's decided. I'm not even gonna bother with this line. Not in scale with anything and priced to high for what you get, plus no accessories. Why bother with these figures when Mattel is stepping up their articulation game and basically having the same hip articulation as these guys except they are in scale with 6 inches figures and they have ankle rockers now. This wave is a day late and a dollar short. They are just pointless when DC multiverse is basically the same now. This line just seems dated and it's just begun.

I agree, everyone used to make fun of dc multiverse, but Mattel is actually picking up the pace. Their upcoming figures that they showed at sdcc looked promising.
Only problem is Mattel's distribution is HORRIBLE. If they can get that straightened out then I can 100% agree with you.
