Celebrating Sr Outsider's Legacy

  • The legend himself...Sr Outsider...my dad. Thank you for your strong, yet gentle leadership. For letting me make my own mistakes, and then showing me how to fix it, without uttering a single "I told you so"...even though you could have.
You taught without words, and led by example. I learned the value of character, family, and faith by watching you. Thanks for living it.
Thanks for buying me my first chainsaw when I was too broke to afford one.
...I put that little Poulan to work though, didn't I? 😄 ...Built a couple log cabins with it so far...with you by my side, of course.
...and then there was the day the McCormick broke down on me, at the worst time. I was stranded in the bush with my sawmill in tow and a thunderstorm on the way. Mrs. Outsider was at home sick and I needed to get home to her. I was exhausted and discouraged beyond belief.
When you found me, I told you I was fine, but you saw the tears in my eyes. Without a word, you pulled me into a big bear hug. Then you rolled up your sleeves, and we got to work. Thanks for being my strength when mine fails.
Thanks for teaching me that even the strongest men need Jesus. I remember many a morning, coming down the stairs for breakfast and seeing your head prayerfully bowed over a marked-up Bible. Thanks for talking the talk, and walking the walk.
I could go on, but I'll stop here. Thanks for being my hero.

Thank you all for the incredible outpouring of love and support that we've received, during this very difficult time. Mrs. Outsider and I have literally been overwhelmed by your response! Please know, that although we can't respond to everyone, we are so grateful to all of you! It's been such a comfort and encouragement to read through your comments.

I agree 100%. Not many get a father like this young man's. My path would've been a lot better & easier had i had one, but i finally turned out a woman of faith, honor & integrity (by Gods grace only); i think from the fervent prayers of his mother. Bc my younger yrs were full of violence, degradation & ❤ ache & beatings. But that goes to show us how powerful God's love & mercy is! Im very lucky & favored of Jehovah somehow. Praise the Lord!

My father taught me one thing. Never to touch alcohol. He did that by drinking himself to death. Outsider's Dad was what I would call a Man. He didn't need to run around yelling about how manly he was, he just quietly went about life and raised his family the way he should have. Outsider is proof of that. Blessed Be.

@bill bright, that was a comment not needed, and the man was 70 year's old, doing work that most people his age couldn't do. Mr. Outsider mentioned that his grandpa is 98, and stopped working real heavy at 96, and that his family have lived to really old age. God has an exit time for all of us, and making this statement without even knowing the man is a bit harsh considering he passed away only a month ago. God bless you, and i pray you find some compassion in your heart and consider that people are grieving right now, but still shared this special video for those who have been watching a son working with his dad on this cabin through some already tough times.

I shed tears when you first broke the news of your father's passing. I shed tears anew at this tribute. What a fine man you had for a father, not only was he a mentor, but also a friend. Yet not only was he a buddy, he was a leader. And the man you are today is proof of the legacy he lived for, one that will certainly live on long after his last breath. And in closing, I must say that there is no greater legacy a man can leave than to point and lead his son to his true home in eternity, where Jesus lives and reigns forever. Sr. Outsider has passed through death's door and lives forever. You will see him again, that is your comfort and your peace. Meanwhile may you find strength and solace in the beautiful memories he left in your heart. ♥️ (Philippines)

Had to take a deep breath before I clicked play, tears started streaming down before the video started. It's strange yet by design (at least based on my beliefs) that I am crying for a total stranger that I've only known through UA-cam videos, however it has happened more often than I want. There is a strange comfort in it. As I read comments, I'm not the only one. It is a very odd way of knowing that there are still good people out there, people who value life, people who can morn with a total stranger on the internet and help celebrate his life. For thus I am grateful. Thank you for sharing. Know that his life and your sharing of it all helps people, just another small thing to add to what I imagine was a lifetime of amazing love and giving. God bless you all!

@Julie Crable I know this feeling to.
About two years ago my brother sent me a video of an other youtube channel about doing stuff outside, in the woods. In this video one of the to main persons of said channel told the viewers thad he has cancer, again for the third time. The doctor had told him hi has between two weeks and two months left to live. But while telling this bad realy bad news to his audience he was realy realy happy, because he has found Jesus, his saver.
He had a multiple interviews, including some for tv, where he told the gospel to a large audience.
I realy like youtube channels run by beliving christians, even it they dont directly tell anything about theyr belive, you can still see it with the way they live theyr live.

My husband and I just binged the cabin build up till the door being built. It’s 11pm, time for bed, so I said we have to save this so we can find it again. We need to see how the cabin comes out. I grab my phone and pull your you tube channel up to subscribe and save, when I saw the announcement video of his passing. While binging the build, “I had a feeling” that he would not make it till the end. I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve only been watching for a few hours, and I feel gutted. I pray that he is with you in spirit for the rest of this build and throughout your life. May God bless you and your family and may 2023 bring nothing but joy into your lives.

When we think of Senior Outsider...we will remember the wonderful way he lived...not how he died. Resting in the Everlasting Arms of Our Saviour!

I never got to know my father, he died when I was only 3. I only have one very short memory of him and I cherish that memory. As I have watched your story and witnessed the bond and relationship you and your father had I often wondered what it might have been like had my father been alive. I want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to see that relationship. You sir, are a good man and came from a good man. Stay humble, keep God at your side and make memories with your daughter they way you and your father did.

Greetings from Northeast Ohio. Wow, that lump in my throat really hurts. I think I need to let it go. My husband and I have been watching you and your dad for four years. Maybe five. My husband passed at the age of 75 September, 2020. He loved your videos. He bought a sawmill because of you. He had a friend that needed 60 some pine trees cut down. So he did what you would do, He cut them down. We started bringing the trees home with a dream to build a cabin on our extra piece of property. 5 acres. A few months later we found out he had pancreatic cancer. But I continue to live his dream watching you and your dad finish the cabin. His passing was very very sad for all of us, your viewers. I know the pain that you felt as you walk through that cabin door without your dad. We all know that loss is in our future but we are never ready. I hope the many many comments you get from this video brings you some comfort.

What a beautiful and heartfelt dedication to your dads memory. When I lost my dad I too found it difficult to return to the cabin (that we had restored) for the first time. Take care and God bless

I have watched you and your father build and share with us. I also miss your Dad. I am a pastor but about to leave the ministry. On February 3 of this year I developed Covid. I turned 75 in March. I still have to overcome the effects of Covid. I checked every day to see if there was a new post from you. You are loved and I will always remember you two working together.

An amazing person, to be honest with you. I feel as though we all knew he was amazing from the initial episodes.
I say that because of how respectful you are to everything. This isn't something easily learned and embraced blindly. It comes at the hands of a great teacher, a wise leader, a good father. His qualities guided a son who's amazing in his own right. A strong foundation spans generations indeed.
I thank you for sharing the life of your father, that we might learn a bit more about this great person. Narrated well, you've done a great job with this tribute. Bless him and your family.
