Squatter(s) should die of lead poisoning if they don't vacate immediately. I think in some jurisdictions, all rents and leases must be in writing to protect both parties from unlawful occupancy and evictions. If not, it should be a ordinance backed up with ordnance if the squatter doesn't vacate.
That is why 4x4s exist. And baseball bats. See, no squatters anymore. Simple. Just need to be aware that if you do not protect your property, no one will.

Great idea but now lets face reality. These squatters have nothing and are criminals. you are not going to get a penny out of them and these liberal run states don't want to prosecute these types. I say throw these POS individuals into the back of a van and dump them somewhere in the desert. On there walk back to civilization they can think about what they did.
@philip tooley in that case, being a criminal is relative to where he/she live in. If he lives in iraq or vietnam, then he is a bonafide criminal. But he isnt, hes living in his home country. He has the rights to call upon the law to incarcerate those squatters.
Homeowners should be able to sue city, county, or state if this happens and the criminals have more rights. Can’t even leave your house for fear someone will start living in it rent free.
It makes no sense that residency can be established when they were never authorized to live there in the first place. With all the damage they did, there should be criminal charges filed.

I disagree. Squatters rights were made so people without homes could have a place to stay, but for some reason, crazy people take advantage of these laws and break into occupied homes. It is, for the most part, now. The practice goes back to English Common Law with the reforms of Alfred 1100 years ago. This stopped freemen from being forced from their home and land by those with more power.
Why is there no way to arrest them for trespassing or theft or for destruction of property. I just don't understand. These people need to be held legally for something, this is sickening!
I'm betting there is just more to this story. It sounds like the homeowners explicitly gave her access and allowed her to use the place in exchange for cleaning it for them. The exact timeline and their relationship to the property is also unclear. If I were to guess, they probably did do something that established a landlord / tenant relationship with the woman, even if brief. If that's the case, the answer they got from police was right: it's a civil matter and the recourse is eviction (and then if she doesn't vacate, she gets arrested). This story feels skewed, though we'd need the woman's perspective to really know anything at all. Could be a total PoS, but there's not enough information here to say and my bias sensor is going off.

Something similar happened to a neighbor of mine a number of years ago. His brother owned a house on my block and unfortunately died very suddenly. He didn't have any family in state so it was about a week until his brother could come and square away the house and belongings, in the meantime some local dirtbags that knew the deceased decided to move into the house. They paid as much respect to the home and the dead man's possessions as you would guess, just trashed the place. Well, the brother of the deceased was not a man to trifle with. Upon discovery of these "people" in his dead brother's home he remained extremely calm while telling them they needed to leave, they would not. He came back that night around 3 am. With a bullhorn, and a shotgun, and about eight bug bombs. He proceeded to break out windows and toss in active bug bombs. He then got on the bullhorn and informed the human roaches inside what they were being exposed to and recommended they leave the house, they did. It was one of the most bad ass things I've ever seen.
@Nick Diesal every moron on UA-cam has an opinion, yours happens to be wrong. Some of us have lived a "colorful" life, not just whacked off to internet porn and played video games.
Thats how squatting works. These people drive around looking for vacant homes that people were just evicted from. They move there stuff in as quietly as possible, have some type of mail delivered to that address with their name on it and they are in.
As someone who used to rent houses I often came across this situation and had a very unique solution. So I share it for anyone interested. The police always defer to whichever person is standing in the house. They told the person outside they have to handle the situation through the courts. So you have to be in the house. What I would do was enter the house even if I had to break a window in back (its my house) with a gas mask on and throw 6 bug bombs. At the people ran outside I quickly changed the locks. I would bring a couple of large men with me to stand outside and argue with the person I was evicting. This of course was always after they had their 30 days notice and had not gotten out. Usually they would call the police. When the police arrived I let my buddies quickly come back in & we were the ones in the house physically. Telling the police I own the house. I had papers showing the squatters had been evicted 30 days ago and other new papers, showing I had rerented the home to someone else. This is where my other two guys would come in. They would say," they" lived there now, they had moved in a week ago and they don't know why these people were coming back. They had their lease in hand proving they live there for over a week because of course the other people were supposed to be out a week ago according to the legal paperwork. Then invariably, the cops would just tell the evicted people WHO WERE OUTSIDE, that they needed to take it up in civil court. The cops aren't going to force someone out who has an active lease. Sometimes I wouldn't even stay for the police scene I would just leave that to my two operatives. Who were posing as my new tenants. The bug bombs work great to get them out. You could even just not answer the door when the police came after all they don't have a warrant. You just have to physically get them out of the building and then change the locks. It should be added that I always returned all belongings to the renters, putting them out at the curb.
They are squatters AND trespassers, but if the property was not being lived in by the owner, the actual owner has to go through a process to evict them. Castle doctrine does not apply if the owner does not live there.
Hard to get blood out of a turnip. I've spent thousands on evicting low life tenants over the years. It's just not worth trying to get anything out of people who don't earn anything. I just wish they wouldn't cause thousands in damages when they finally have to go.

They don't, the local law enforcement are ignorant of the law. In every state a person must live in one place and receive mail at that address for 30 days before they are considered a resident. As for squatters who think they can take over abandoned properties and claim ownership of the property, Sone states have laws which say they must live at said residence for 7 years before they can claim ownership and other states have it listed as 15 years. In my state it is 15 years. They figure if the owner hasn't been around to check on a place for 15 years then they don't want it anyway. Also in that amount of time the property taxes add up and the state can auction the property long before the squatter can claim the property.
@@tammycenter8757 You are talking about residency in the state. This is squatters rights which those people have legal protections, right or wrong they do. Two completely separate issues. As far as ownership of property, I am unaware of any law that says you don't own property until you have lived there for a period of years. If you purchase property regardless if you live on it or not, you own it. What your talking about is property abandonment. If I own a piece of property and pay the taxes on it and keep it in order according to the local code requirements, I never have to set foot on that piece of land and still own it. If I am delinquent on property taxes and/or fail to keep it in compliance with local ordinances, the various governments I am obligate to pay fines to for failure to pay taxes or fines for out of compliance can seize the property as abandoned. I am a Law Enforcement officer and I am very well versed in civil and criminal law regardless if agree with them or not.

I also had it happen to me in Georgia. The guy I hired to install new carpet before my new tenants moved in. I let him in the house to install the carpet. Came back later that day, and he had changed the locks and was squatting. I had to pay to file eviction, go to court against him a month later, and then wait 10 days for the actual eviction. Meanwhile I had to file a separate suit against him to get a judgement for the money I was out on the carpet (he had sold it instead of installing it). It was amazing how many rights he had. It’s illegal in GA to turn off the utilities on a squatter!
Why is a "squatter" being treated as a "tenant?" A tenant is legally binded with signed contract. A squatter is illegally taking over the property without any contract. How come the authorities cannot do anything about it ? 🤔
I imagine the origimal idea was to protect a temant from a shady landlord claiming there was no contract, and claiming the tenant's copy (assuming they could provide one) was fraudulant. The following works for regular landlord/tenant eviction disputes AND squatters. 1: Remove the doors and windows from the property so you can, lol, "weather proof" them. 2: Load them up so you can "go to your shop and perform the necessary modifications." 3: Don't bring them back (due to equipment failure at your shop, if anybody asks). Depending on the season and the local bug population, they'll get out pretty quick. They can't file any complaints because they have ZERO legal standing for being on the property in the first place. As the property owner, you always have the right to do property upgrades, but "tenants under eviction orders" or "squatters" are NOT allowed to do any modifications, so any form of complaint will just be ignored. A friend of mine uses this method to evict nuisance tenants instead of the courts. @@glenchadwick420 that is true for some utilities. ALL OF US were armed, they had to have known that.. well they left out the front door and we later on had a small fire in the back yard in the fire pit. We burned all their stuff. Wifi router, cell phones, wallet, purse, keys, baby clothes, their clothes, furniture. Of course we didn't want to commit a felony by destroying money so we took any cash and it supplied the beer for 3 friggin days while we cleaned up the busted drywall and the ceiling fans that were ripped out for some puzzling reason. The water heater was missing too..............
I had a person trying to squat. She went to work one day, came home and all her stuff was nicely packed and placed on the curb. Nothing she could do. Cops told her to pack em up and leave. They can only stay in your house as long as they are in the house. Once they leave to do whatever is when you move them out.
Every squatter that does this, should be IMMEDIATELY DRAGGED out of the house and thrown in jail - they can squat in jail where ALL THIEVES BELONG !! I can't believe we actually have laws that protect people who just decide one day to take over a house (steal a house), from the owners , who , for years paid the mortgage and taxes on it . So what happens to the real home owners if they got back inside and changed the locks on the squatters ? Who would the law protect then ??? Squatters shouldn't have any rights to anything that someone else owns !!
After you serve them a 30-day eviction notice. bug bomb the house with them in it...like a half dozen and after they run out of the house, change the locks and have your owners info ready if they call the cops. These were suggestions of a realtor who posted on this page.

If they couldn't afford to rent someplace legally then they probably have no money to cover the damages they caused. That doesn't really help, because many of these cases the squatters broke into the home while the owners were away. This story feels skewed, though we'd need the woman's perspective to really know anything at all. Could be a total PoS, but there's not enough information here to say and my bias sensor is going off.

This is genius 👏 🙌

Yes that’s bizarre. Just because you did a business deal with someone doesn’t give them a right to your property.
Yes, that's why you should be very careful who you allow to stay in your house.
That has happened
It's a lot faster and as a bonus, the people on the property are so happy that they'll soon have new weather proofing (lol) that you'll usually get no beef while you are extracting the doors and windows from their frames. Michael Parks They just open the utilities back up under someone else's name All they need is the address. Also you can't just go out yourself and cut them off. Some of them even steal utilities. Think about it. Paying utilities is still way cheaper than paying rent and utilities. Our government also helps pay for utilities for people who meet low income. Its a win win situation for them. Whats worse is now squatters even move out of one place into higher scale places when they become vacant. Its like they have a person driving around scouting for home upgrades with pools ect😆
@@glenchadwick420 that is true for some utilities. In my area the water company will only open accounts in the owners name that's on county records or name of the person renting given by the owner and a copy of the lease. So they would be out of luck there.
