The Wexford Half Set - Ballindaggin Hall, 1992
Here's a lovely clip of set dancing from a play that took place here in Ballindagin Hall back in 1992 - some 32 years ago. The play was by put on by The Woodland Players and this involved Aileen's mother and uncle. You can also see a 16/17 year old Aileen playing the piano accordion between the dresser and the door. Loads of other musicians too but it's the half-set that I love seeing. The Wexford Set is particular to this part of the country and the four dancers here are Nick Doyle, Larry White, Noreen Frayne and Bernie O'Neill. Great footage and I always find that local plays are great for songs, dancing and recitations. I transferred 4 old VHS tapes over the past few days and there is loads of great content cropping up - this being one example. Stick it on.
