It released well into anime's exploration of being "transported to another world", so by this point, a lot of stuff had already been done. Plenty of shows had explored the excitement and discovery of a new place, and others had already explored the unease and longing for home that comes with being stuck in an difficult or unfamiliar place. By this point, we had entered the ironic stage - everything had to be isekai for mass market appeal since it was proven to work, but most who would watch it had seen all these previous works and didn't need a rehash of "Oh no, where am I?!". So, instead, they would take the tropes of the genre (summoning, a cute girl companion, sudden strength or powers, etc) and poke fun at them and skip quickly over the actual isekai part. Re:Zero is firmly here. The genre later even got a reputation for being so brief about it that most isekai could have just as easily not been isekai at all. It's almost caused a small resurgence in how common more in-depth ones are.
This is one of my favorite shows because of the massive world builiding and characters. I would only advise you not to overthink things and know that the characters have flaws and arent perfect. I myself love when the main characters have big flaws. Hope you enjoy it!

Re zero S1 Was a 9/10 for me S2 was 10/10. But after reading the web novel... All i can say is that s3 is gonna be a big thing, i can't wait for s3 to be realesed! Looking forward to your further reactions, this anime is in my top 3 list! Hoping you'll like it as well!
