Free house lot and house, plus cash for Shameeza

Domestic violence survivor, Shameeza Mohamed, 40, of Belle West, West Bank Demerara, was relieved after she received a Deed of Gift from the Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA) for a house lot and was told that they would be building her a house. The lot is located at Stewartville, West Coast Demerara. Shameeza who was on the verge of being evicted, could not believe the positive turn of events that were suddenly taking place. She had applied for the house lot several years earlier and only received an acknowledgment letter from the Ministry of Housing. She was emotional as she shared her life of struggles, due to her poor health and not having an income. She had also burst into tears when the landlord told her that if she did not come up with rent of $30,000 per month, that she owed him since last August, he was giving her one week to move out of his house. She cried tears of joy when she received enough money to pay off for the rent she owes and to even pay for two more months in advance. The kindhearted donors, living both overseas and locally were touched by her story and wanted to play a part in changing her life.
