Things could be worse. It took me all day to cross that 2 mile portage into cache lake and it was raining. Then it was nearly dark and I couldn’t see any campsites. I had to put up my tent in the rain. My rain suit was wet. My tent was wet. It’s bad when you have to put on wet shoes or wet pants in the morning. That fire and a dry bed is vital.
Thanks a ton! Hell's Canyon coming up in the next Part of the Series. I didn't cover as much ground as you did on your trip - that was impressive! Follow Solo Schmitty on his Quetico Trip @soloschmitty
How do you like that Forceatt tent?? I am wondering how it does keeping the rain out. I need to buy another tent when I take my wife and daughter to the BWCA at the end of May. Seems reasonably priced.
Love it!! Better than expensive ones. Get one size bigger than what u think u need. I also sprayed waterproof on fly and bottom parts of tent. Never leaked. Nice porch area to keep things out of tent.
Don't know the exact spray but Walmart carries it in the sporting goods department. Looks like a spray paint can with an orange cap. I imagine most waterproof sprays would work also.

The challenging portages are the ones we remember.

What did you use for waterproof spray? I have never used one so I'm not sure what works. Thanks in advance. @@mywaterzmywoodz
