Big Daddy is my childhood, I cried so many times to this movie. When I was little my dad and mum lived together, then problems happened fast. My dad moved far away from us, I used to see him every weekend and then when my step dad walked into our lives he tried to replace my dad. A court case led to me not seeing my dad for 6 months. I was completely broken without him and lost completely. I was scared they’d take him away from me forever. They’d even take my phones away so I couldn’t talk to him, my dad kept buying them and telling me to hide them. I would’ve completely lost hope if he didn’t (against the law) come to see me in secret and hug me and let me know that he’s going to win and nothing can keep us apart. After 6 torturous months, he won the case and I gave him the biggest hug I’ve ever given. This movie really touched me because of the shit I was going through myself. It’s a beautiful story of being a good father and it always reminds me of my dad. Even now, over 12 years later from that incident. I went to university, got my degree, he’s helped me start my first company, helped me buy my first house and he said to me ‘I’m going to take us on vacation all over the world, with the whole family. Don’t worry about anything, my purpose in life is to go on holiday and help you be a doctor’. He’s over 60 years old and still there for me. I hope I become even half the amazing father he is. This movie and my father together taught me that being a father is one of the greatest things a person can be in their life and having your father is one of the most important people in your life.

I knew of Neil Young’s version before this came out, but I would have to say I like this version better. It’s not often that I pick a remake over an original.
This movie is really special to me for some reason. This is such a good movie because it has so many funny scenes but also has heart and can have some gut wrenching scenes sometimes. The scene where Sunny (Adam Sandler) tells his dad in court "I would die for this kid just so he didn't have to feel one ounce of sadness" is so beautiful to me and feels like something my own father would say to me. One of the best Adam Samdler films ever and one of the best films of 1999.
