What if you have initial data that is not 1 but something more complex like e^x or x + 2? I can't seem to make my substitutions work out into error functions. Thank you

I believe you missed "k" when you assigned p. It should be that p = (x - y) / sqrt(4kt) such that we get p^2 = (x - y)^2 / (4kt)
