Believe me brother, learning english as a Romanian isn't by far as hard as attempting to learn Romanian as a native english speaker. Your grandmother probably would've wanted at some point to teach you, but she knew that you wouldn't grow interested just because of the fact that the language is very hard to learn.

Which means that it's one of the easier languages to learn if you're a native English speaker, even easier if you know other Romance languages. Russians in the past had the same privilage here but during last years it's quite worse from obvious reasons because Czechs don't like anything connected to communism or in the last year to Russia aswell. Romania for its whole history had to defend every inch of its borders. It formed only because of the bravery of Carol the first and his army that defeated the Turks and established a new state that had to reclaim all of the Romanians from the foreign occupation. The Romanians had passed through a lot of ocupations from Russians and Turks but they managed to be together.
@Onevablo 1 I'm sorry to say but Russia was never Romania's ally, it was its second greatest enemy. Even in the War of Independence the Ottomans were viewed as the good guys, not the Russians. 1812 was the worst year in Romanian history and it's all because of Russia (Moldavia and Wallachia allied with Russia) they've occupied half of our country (Bessarabia (today Budjak) and Moldavia in between the Prut and Dnister) and pillaged the other parts (I don't want to go into detail here but the Russians (ironically "our allies") did some really bad stuff here). And in the war of independence, they've taken three counties from us Izmail, Cahul and Bolgrad which they said they wouldn't when we've entered the war. And in Bessarabia massive settlement of Russians, Ukrainians and Germans changing the ethnic map from Romanian with a large Turkish and Tatar minority to a Romanian majority (with no representation basically being slaves) and a large Ukrainian minority and other things too but this comment is already long enough.

Russians in the past had the same privilage here but during last years it's quite worse from obvious reasons because Czechs don't like anything connected to communism or in the last year to Russia aswell. However Romania has quite high level of recognition. (Not scammers from Romania in Prague however...)

Romania for its whole history had to defend every inch of its borders. It formed only because of the bravery of Carol the first and his army that defeated the Turks and established a new state that had to reclaim all of the Romanians from the foreign occupation. The Romanians had passed through a lot of ocupations from Russians and Turks but they managed to be together.

@Onevablo 1 I'm sorry to say but Russia was never Romania's ally, it was its second greatest enemy. Even in the War of Independence the Ottomans were viewed as the good guys, not the Russians. 1812 was the worst year in Romanian history and it's all because of Russia (Moldavia and Wallachia allied with Russia) they've occupied half of our country (Bessarabia (today Budjak) and Moldavia in between the Prut and Dnister) and pillaged the other parts (I don't want to go into detail here but the Russians (ironically "our allies") did some really bad stuff here). And in the war of independence, they've taken three counties from us Izmail, Cahul and Bolgrad which they said they wouldn't when we've entered the war. And in Bessarabia massive settlement of Russians, Ukrainians and Germans changing the ethnic map from Romanian with a large Turkish and Tatar minority to a Romanian majority (with no representation basically being slaves) and a large Ukrainian minority and other things too but this comment is already long enough.
