The Battle of Damascus (2011-18): Every Day [Syrian Civil War]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 18 січ 2019
- Beginning in late 2010, the so-called 'Arab Spring' shook the Arab World. By the end of 2011, the unrest had spread to Syria, including its capital, Damascus.
Syria's stretched security forces failed to crack down on the unrest, allowing it to morph into a full civil war in the first months of 2012.
Damascus quickly became a hotbed of insurgent activity, for both moderate rebels and Islamist groups.

I'm up to 800 CE with Asia now. I appreciate it's taking a very long time, so I'll try and post some preview snapshots soon. Thanks for watching!
Great video, but it's still such an awful thing to see people's lives being destroyed by civil war.
Are you going to be including events like these on your history of Asia video?
i am also waiting for this video
Thank you so much for your work and for the update as well. And this is indeed awful civil war of the 21st century.
Ollie Bye Will you eventually be combining all of the parts to make a super accurate “history of the world” video (vr3)?
More like Daaaaamn-ascus. Ok wow I should try harder for a better joke than that.
Fucking leave. Your puns gave me cancer.
@Mr Seboss There's the door

But it's all cool bro I still love your videos.

@@ultragamer4960 Again: you can't go back in time. How difficult is this for you to understand? Just admit this took a fair amount of effort. I'm not saying this is a work of art, but it was by no means easy to compile, either.
CommunistDoge I’m not saying that this was easy to make the video but it *was* pretty easy to find info. I never said that this wasn’t hard. Stop assuming. The option to pay wasn’t there until very recently since I go on this side very often since 2016.
It is funny how it turn just to a video of 2 minutes

Bit biased to call it the Ba'athist "regime" and the "moderate rebels". The Free Syrian Army was no longer a structured organisation by 2015, and Islamist groups were using the label, and the current Ba'athist government is the legitimate government of Syria.
Sorry you feel that way - this video doesn't intend to express an opinion on any of those points.
Agreed, biased may not have been the intention of the video, but it sure ended up that way. If anything, it's reflective of the vocabulary of the reporting of the war.
Abu Troll al cockroachistan my friend I am a Sunni as well but don’t you think that maybe he is targeting those “Sunnis” because they are trying to create a separate country, puppeted by the US, with the help of armies such as ISIS? I don’t believe it has anything to do with religion, more with politics and people who want to overthrow the current government, so the government retaliates.
@Abu Troll al cockroachistan Unfortunately, I am not an expert in Syria ... We are the people of Syria and I know what is happening. As a result of media wars and international interests, the regime in Syria is acceptable to all and from all communities. Thank you and respect your opinion,
Ollie Bye it’s not just a “feeling”, different sides call the other derogatory names during conflicts and cast themselves as more legitimate than others. Using the terminology favorable to the Free Syrian Army, allied to the West, is problematic.
WOOOOOW, Amazing work!
i lived in yarmouk through all that < we then left to midan , and we're there since then

I keep saying that Syria is like a game of StarCraft, but damn I didn't realize that many different rebel groups existed at the same time in ONE metropolitan area.

Nice job. FSA were salafists And there were really no moderate rebels fighting against the government maybe at first but not later on.
I don’t know if I would identify the Free Syrian Army moderate anymore considering some of the groups they have been working with.
FSA is a loose term. There has never been a proper FSA. Today, the FSA is non existent. The rebels are jihadists, plain and simple
“Moderate”
They chop off heads moderately, while the regime moderately executes them with a bullet in one of its many prisons.

There is real hope for that, as long as Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia and FUKUS don't do anything stupid.
God bless Syria 🇸🇾 hopefully it will be fully liberated from western backed terrorists by the Syrian army.
The struggle for the freedom of Syria has failed ...
*has succeeded
The so called "rebels" are led by hardline sectarian terror groups such as Al-Nusra (or whatever it's calling itself these days), the Syrian branch of Al-qaeda, which is by far the largest "rebel" group, among others. Almost all of them push a Sunni Sectarian agenda, have borderline if not totally genocidal policies towards Christians, Shias, and others, and enforce their own extreme preversions of Islam that strip women of most all rights and allow for the brutalization of those in areas they occupy. They engaged in the public beheadings of teenagers in Aleppo, gunning down civilians trying to flee war zones through government sponsored humanitarian corridors, and using children as propaganda prices among other things.
Say what you will about Assad or his government, but at the very least they are secular, have minority protections in place for persecuted religious and ethnic groups, and grant a large degree of social and religious freedoms to their populace relative to the so called "opposition" groups and their regional sponsors (ie. Saudi Arabia). If you're having a freedom contest between the Syrian Government and the Al-qaeda led "opposition", the government wins hands down. Was fairly easy for me to come to that conclusion after following the events of the war day by day for over half a decade.
SkiddyGaming God bless syria 🇸🇾 it will be liberated by the Syrian army and allies soon, they have successfully defeated the western backed terrorists proxy’s.
@@SkiddyGaming
How can a supporter of a murderous butcher of a tyrant accuse others of war crimes ???? Geee I wonder…. You see, there are sea-level loads of evidence that support the notion that the Assaad Regime is a sectarian pro-minority government that cracks down with Stalin-era tactics of extreme torture, rape and mutiliation. Videos of torture and killings by the Abbas brigade, hezbollah, basij , Russian Wagner group and Syrian Air Force intelligence are all over the internet. I’m sure you’re gonna larp at me with questions such as “where is your evidence?” And as soon as I present one drop of evidence, you will retort with:” this is fake evidence”…. I am not gonna argue with you on that.
I just wanted to say that you are a monster that supports monsters and I hope you go to hell.

The Christians of Damascus have finally celebrated Christmas in peace.
again colors are not colorblind friendly at all. what about red blue and yellow for example?
The reason for all the green is that they're typically using official colors used by the factions (and muslims love green for some reason)

The Syrian civil war-ISIS insurgency has probably been the most complicated situation people into geopolitics have ever encountered.
As a believer of democracy, I found myself supporting the FSA to oust Assad but next thing you know, ISIS is the biggest problem and Assad is bombing FSA&ISIS& Kurds but then the FSA&Kurds is fighting ISIS&Assad. The US is bombing Assad and ISIS and supporting FSA&Kurds but needs Assad to clean the ISIS. Russia is bombing ISIS,SDF,FSA but needs Kurds to fight ISIS because their role has been critical. Turkey has been fighting Kurds&Assad&ISIS.
In the end,it was the Syrian people who suffered the most who got hammered by 3 sides only to end up where they started at,under Assad's regime and not to mention the Kurds who did a commendable job and was looking as if they might finally get their own country only to have been better by Syria and USA as soon as the bulk of ISIS was done with.
Unfortunate series of events.
If Russia supported the FSA over Assad to fight DAESH, the problem would've been solved years ago. But to set feet in the Middle-East, they supported a side which is not supported by any other group (USA, Europa or Turkey).
Wow look at all those moderate rebels !
