Same here, it was on the "Triple Thrash Treat" with Cathedral - Autumn Twilight and Paradise Lost - Pity the Sadness. At the time I thought this is the future of British metal. Hah hah.
I watched them few days ago live in Gdansk and the new stuff, while still amazing, just doesn't have the same energy. Maybe it's my old age and nostalgia but Serenades just fucking rocks...
I was there when they filmed the live footage for this promo video. Day of Death @Tufnell Park Dome in London in December 1992 which also featured My Dying Bride, Cradle of Filth, Decomposed, Incarcerated, Burial, Solstice, Chorus of Ruin etc
Dig the Trouble t-shirt. The guitarist had a side-project called Lid with Trouble's vocalist, the album is called "in the mushroom" if anyone cares lol
Anyone know where / when the gig in this was filmed? I saw anathema at Highbury garage in 1994 and it looks very familiar. Pretty sure there's a 15 year old me at the front left head banging away! At the gates supported by the way - I met them all backstage and Darren even sang for me 'and your tears taste so sweet'!!!
Hi, All the live footage was filmed at Rock City Nottingham, other visuals were taken at the bands Studio in Liverpool and another day out on dunes near to Liverpool.
I like some of there new stuff but the first 3 oh no wait 4 I forget the name of the one in between silent enigma and eternity anyway the original doomsters along with Amorphis tales.
'Silent Enigma', for me is the worst Anathema's album; because Darren White got out, and Vincent Cavanagh took the vocal. I think he didn't know to sing at that time. In the next album ('Eternity') he started to show that he learnt to sing well.
@@khyronbradford I don't know how he managed to do the epic growling in the studio tracks but in all live recordings i have seen he indeed sucks ass and the performance would be better without him.
So glad I was a teenager in the 90s, best period for metal, and so much friendlier people. Thank you Anathema for this, it brings great memories
Remember watching this late at night on headbangers ball in the early nineties and the guitar melody and tone reached right into my soul.

Autumn Twilight was my first exposure to Cathedral on HBB!
Those w’re the days!
The first Anathema song I heard. It had such a strong impact on my teen self.
Likewise man! Every single doomy riff I ever wrote has been influenced by thins song xD
This is true ANATHEMA!!!
These are the real Anathema in my opinion. One Doom, which impedes your very heart and soul.

Always hard to beat such a monumental debut, few bands manage it
Anathema are so unical in ours time, i'ts eternal joy for me!
This is the only band on earth that all its phases are beautiful. I love all Anathema!
For me is Paradise Lost, Katatonia and Rotting Christ... but Anathema is good too.
Still a monumental track and very important in the development of the English Doom/Death Metal underground scene of the early nineties

I remember in 1994 when they came in Bucharest. I miss that times… Anathema will be forever in our hearts.
......the last time i heard this song was like 20 years ago.....
.....so many memories....

Never knew this, very interesting
Mary Agnes made them space cakes
The best doom band of the world. Anathema rules.
They weren't really doom. Rather the best gothic metal band.
The real Anathema. Support true metal no MTV generation

Лучший трэк за всю историю anathema !!!
this is true anathema i n my mind
1993

Whose listening to this in 2023??
US!
2024!
In 2024!
This is the REAL ANATHEMA. Point, case, closed.
Great track, also that Trouble shirt fucking rocks \m/
wow !! giper sounde!!
O melhor do doom metal.....
Dany Cavanagh's guitar melancholy melodies makes doom/death of 90s so unique and different from ealier doom metal bands like Candlemass, Pentagram.
dooooooooooooooooooooooom!
I like some of there new stuff but the first 3 oh no wait 4 I forget the name of the one in between silent enigma and eternity anyway the original doomsters along with Amorphis tales.
It's a pity, very low the sound 🔊
Суперский психоделичный дум- дэт!
💓🤘
Man, they were so diferent. Still pretty cool
This is anathema for me. Their music today is very different.
@@taurusguy9305 and better :)
@@taurusguy9305 Weather Systems is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard. This ones good, but sounds like typical sludge/death metal
I'm sorry!
In my opinion the best doom band is My Dying Bride.
Although, I want to say I've liked Anathema since 1993.
lol

Darren White sang like a mongoloid, even Vince harsh vocals were 10000 better than White’s.
Silent Enigma was meant to have Darren on it and it was going to be called Rise Pantheon Dreams. That would have been far and away their best record.
@@khyronbradford I don't know how he managed to do the epic growling in the studio tracks but in all live recordings i have seen he indeed sucks ass and the performance would be better without him.
@@richardcrook2112that record awesome as it is, Vincent did a great job, one of my all time fav. album :)
The Silent Enigma is THE best gothic metal album ever. None could match it.
