Wow that piston! But it still ran so good? Thanks Honda.

Top side of the piston is the thrust side, perhaps that is why you see more wear there. Given you have brought a mild bore kit with matching ECU reflash you'll probably be fine, the algorithms in the factory reflashed ecu combined with the narrowband sensor in the head mean you should get pretty good AFR. The big limitation is the narrowband sensor, as everything is calibrated relative to stoichiometric based on an assumed power curve profile. This biggest weakness of this is when you change the shape of the power curve too far from the assumed profile with aggressive cams and big heads etc... in saying that some of the known flash tuners are now offering reflashes for 4v heads etc but they do compromise performance for reliability, this is the point where a stand alone ECU becomes key.

with reference to the 143 kit by Lazy Dog Productions in Chaing Mai, These guys did a fairly in depth analysis of the BBK's and various upgrades to where they are today. Initially they only fitted the Diabllo exhaust with 19mm header then the 56mm Cylinder and piston, this gave the bikes much more torque but also developed a problem which turned out to be a cracked valve guide, at the 2nd garage the mechanic noted that the 56mm cylinder did not match the 54.6mm head correctly and that the 19mm header pipe was not achieving efficiency and so ported the head, intake and exhaust ports... this gave the bike a lot more power, later a Hot cam was added and an ecu upgrade to the ECU-Shop Full Stand Next ( to suit Honda Wave 125i LED 2020+) and a larger stainless intake pipe. as far as i know this is where the bike is today and runs very well with lots of torque and good top end speed... Ive done the same thing with my CT125 except I bpught a full engine kit from HiSpeed in Thailand which included Balanced forged crank shaft 57mm cylinder and ported head with larger valves (24/28), heavy springs, Manual Clutch and 5 speed (1N2345), Since then I have been to thailand and purchased an engine housing and internals, plus an API PowerUP ECU to suit, Ill rebuild my original engine to stock and a complete performance motor... total cost about $1600 aus. this included a Murazaki exhaust ( about 200 Aus) www.murazakishop.com/p/1900

I also forgot to mention that the kit i purchased also came with a high flow oil pump, further to this I found a High Flow Fuel pipe to suit the CT125 so the engine wont starve at the higher RPM

Wide open throttle will do that, especially when even a tiny tune is off. Single cylinder is best at 4500rpm and/or 75% open throttle. If you want to go faster for longer then get a bigger engine bike. Also, ride for 1h max and let it cool for 15min.

Yeah I did a lot of long WOT riding on this - but I have a sneaking suspicion the damage was done long ago. When I bought this bike it only had 1200KM on the odometer and only 200ml of oil in the engine. It sounded a bit loud but oil changes and regular maintenance - it kept going. It was running fine, if only a bit loud when we disassembled it.

Hello Martin Wilson from Aus here, am in Northern Thailand and am looking at building a wave and as my Thai is very limited am finding it difficult to learn anything about what they do them here? Any tutorial’s you guy’s could point me towards would be greatly appreciated. Cheers 👍🏻

Hi Martin, are you still doing a Honda Wave build?

That's worse than the worst of my 2 stroke pistons, but the 250cc 2 stroke locked the back wheel and that was that. How the hell did that keep functioning?!!

Is that a raider/satria 150 engine at the back?
