I'm happy that you enjoyed running the marathon in my country despite the problem you had at the beginning of the race. It's one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. From the beginning until the arrival it is beautiful. I know because I've done this route more than 12 times. Keep running, my friend!
@@pksruns , Long distances, only next year. 17 March, Lisbon Half Marathon. Amateur athletes start on the bridge over the Tagus River. Running across the bridge is an inexplicable feeling. I wish you a merry Christmas and 2024 with lots of racing.
well done on completing this race. The adjustments can be hard to handle, glad you conquered. Loved that pic of you high fiving* to your wife close to the end of the race
Thanks so much - you’ll get to see that moment on the latest video too! So bummed that Amsterdam didn’t happen. Maybe next autumn we run an event together?
Dreadful management. I ran the 21km the same day and as said the temperatures has been predicted at least a week previous to the race date. They had even sent a "final race details" email at 6pm that day with no mention of a possible time change. Why on earth they had such a late start time of 10.30am for the 21km anyway is beyond me. Probably my last organised road run as I was so appalled at the trash the event produced. Thousands and thousands of one gulp plastic water bottles and gel packets which will no doubt find their way into landfill or the ocean. I can not understand why competitors aren't asked to carry their own bottles and fill up at water stations as they do in trail run events.
I feel I was in 3.10 shape but the heat just had to pull back and enjoy the few days. My next race is Manchester hopefully a sub 3 . Lisbon lovely city love the tee-shirt. Declan
Amazing - I got my sub 3 at Manchester earlier this year - hoping for 2:55 at London if I get my GFA place! It’s too addictive! You won’t have heat issues in Manchester I can guarantee!!!!
Yeah it was pretty shocking to be honest - it was very lucky that I did check! I think there were a lot of runners who will have missed it! Are you training for anything?
Couple of sharpish climbs - about 500ft of elevation in total which isn't too bad. My last marathon was Manchester (last year) and that was about 400ft and is classed as 'fast and flat'. Its a bit of a hail Mary!!!

Thanks so much - it was a great day looking back. I hope to run in Portugal again . Do you have any races coming up?

@@pksruns Boston next year... Just on the back off a calf strain after Edinburgh so the training has to pick up shortly
Awesome - I’d like to do Boston in 2025 I think. Just need to get another GFA time in the spring next year - just got to keep fitness up 🤪
is it a flat course ?
