- Svetlana Boginskaja (URS) enchanted the German audience in Stuttgart with her Floor routine and received a perfect 10,000 for it.
She won the Gold medal (tied with Daniela Silivas from Romania)
That unforgettable closing pose... so symbolic also, literally turning her back on the judges, as if saying "I don't need to beg a 10 from you - the audience's applause will do..." 😁🤸♀️
So true. 😎😊😋
The commentator says at the end:
"Svetlana Boginskaja.... for me it is the absolute best, one has to offer.... I would give her a 10"
@@Boban1611 Thanks for the translation 💫
The choreography and music appeal to singers and street musicians. Gestures of guitar, microphone and request for gratification.
I sorely miss innovative dance like this. She was such a wonderful performer
She was really immaculate, when she approached the podium for her floor exercise... 😊🥰😏
This Beautiful Woman was as much a 'Groundbreaker' as Olga, Nadia, and Mary Lou! She brought the Woman back into Women's Gymnastics! Her grace was incredible! She really is a Swan in human form!
Most beautiful.... did you see the video I made for her?

Saw it and saved it in my Women's Gymnastics file!
People think this was too easy in terms of tumbling but what is so nice is the tumbling is apart of the floor exercise, it’s not just counting tumbling passes like after 2003. It’s a performance
Most people forgot about that aspect I guess and it got worse during the years, when the CoP changed drastically and Floor Exercise was just turning into counting tumbling passes as you described it.
Sometimes I think they should simply throw a tumbling mat onto the stage and tell gymnasts 'You have 1:30 time to run forth and back, showing acrobatic series. Forget the music, forget the Artistic aspect - just tumble away.
Not to mention the floors back then were not as springy as today.
There is so much to love about this routine, but I especially love how much choreography there is before the first tumbling run and after the last tumbling run.
Absolutely amazing!
Even her running was elegant
I loved her whole appearance and demeanor.
Especially in her early years (1988 to 1992)
She was such an outstanding gymnast.
Did you see the German Intro about her right before the All Around Competition in 1989?

OMG I love how the commentator says her name at the beginning 😍
You could hear - he was a fan of her.... 😀😃😊

Who choreographed this
Such a glorious Fiesta 😍
... and the music is loud and clear.... 🤣😅😎
The queen❤
She tolds a story there. Today it's mostly narcisistic cheerleading...
The whole USSR squad had beautiful routines in that year.
I adored Natalja Laschenova with her fairy-tale but also Olga Strazheva and Olessia Dudnik.... every routine was a piece of art! Amazing!
Not sure I'll ever understand how Bogi got one 9.95 and Silivaș got 10s all the way across.
It was all about giving her a farewell present I think.... she was the defending World Champion from 1987 and the Olympic Champion after all and everybody knew, this would be her last appearance in a World Championships.
Still it had a bitter taste, if you valued her second pass....
@@Boban1611 but Silivaș says she hadn't planned on retiring and I don't believe it was ever announced that this would be her farewell. Were they just assuming based on her condition? 💀 Or hoping the golds would force her hand? 😭
I miss this style of gymnastics, can’t see oversized gymnasts without artistic style
I've watched the Olympic Games in 2021 partially and I know exactly what you are talking about.
Somehow I missed the transition to this current status.
Still I can say.... there were many reasons why I stopped watching Artistic Gymnastics in the way, shape and form it is now.
I am so glad, that there is the golden era of the sport I love so much.... There is always the possibility to travel back in time and watch those beautiful routines from the past on UA-cam.
I suspect this is one of those programmes where you had to be there to appreciate Svetlana’s choreography and star quality. From a content point of view this is in no way deserving of a ten. In fact compared to Shushunova and Silivas in 1988, it is a step backwards.
Hear hear! 😏😎🥰
У нее мужская фигура, натренированная
I liked her tiny waist and her broad shoulders very much... she was so elegant.
Informally known as "Bogynskia" 😅
They wrote 'Boguinskaya' from time to time in Germany. I adapted the way the name was shown in its majority at the big championships.
@@Boban1611 these British commentators had a hard time to pronounce her surname correctly right 😆😆
@@objetivista686 Oooooh... I see! 😎
Who choreographed this mess
Uhm.... I wouldn't call it a mess though...
