  • Is the Church of England woke? It lets Extinction Rebellion hold a service in a cathedral, it appoints a transgender archdeacon who writes heretical poems, it has fallen in with the pride ideology and so much more becoming like the world. Did I answer the question myself or am I wrong and this is what the CofE should be doing?!

    I maintain that 'Pride' month is truly insightful for any new or relocating Christian who is looking to attend a new Church - any reference to 'Pride' on a Church's website or social media tells me that their teaching is not based on a sound reading of the Bible, and that you should definitely avoid them.

    The Anglican church is like being on the best ship under the worst crew. You've got these beautiful churches, the Book of Common Prayer, the 39 Articles, the King James Bible, and all these wonderful things that are just too much to give up, yet the crew is constantly steering us off course and actively letting pirates take over our ship instead of fighting them off.

      It's a type of syncretism. It's been around since day one (the Sol Invictus cult for one!)The goal in the early church, and presumably now was to convert new believers. You can't convert new souls by shunning the sinner. These bizarre, performative cult-like things that happen (sisters of perpetual indulgence in the US is another) are iconoclasm, not ridicule.

      You do realise that the Gorsedd of Bards of the Island of Britain he was admitted to (in the order of Druids) is nothing to do with paganism.
      It’s the principal cultural and linguistic body of Wales and convenes at the National Eisteddfod. The title ‘druid’ in this sense means only an honorific for a person’s contribution to the cultural life of Wales and its language. The former Archdruid of the Gorsedd, Christine James, is a devoted evangelical christian as is her husband Wyn James, a prominent member in The Evangelical Movement of Wales.

    The antidote to gnosticism in historic Christianity has always been the conviction that the consensus of all the churches at any time in history is an infallible criterion of the true faith. As Augustine put it, and as Newman quoted him:
    "Securus judicat orbis terrarum (the whole earth judges rightly). “And when he was gone”, Newman relates, “they kept ringing in my ears.”(Apologia pro vita sua, p. 115)
    What a light was hereby thrown upon every controversy in the Church! … The deliberate judgment, in which the whole Church at length rests and acquiesces, is an infallible prescription and a final sentence against such portions of it as protest and secede. (Apologia pro vita sua, pp. 115-116)

Like the parable of the feast that God invited people to. His first people did not want to come and made excuses. Then he sent out the invite to anyone who was in the streets good and bad. When it came to the time of the feast one of the guests did not have their wedding garment on. He was tied bound and cast into outer darkness as he had not got himself ready.

    Thank you for this episode. The Bible gives of examples of when Israel abandoned God and worshipped the gods of other nations. Today many leaders in the CofE and many western churches, based on their comments, I feel they think of the Bible as a book of moral lessons that they can pick and choose from. They go further and worship the gods of this world (climate change, LGBTQ+, etc) and themselves. God abandoned Israel when they did this. Has He abandoned the CofE, with the exception of the biblical parishes?

    Is there any evidence that all the changes that Church authorities have introduced have made any difference to the decline? For example how many new converts did the ordination of women and women bishops bring into the Church? Do the figures show any change in numbers when women were ordained, or has the steady decline continued unabated?

    • @helenbond8893

      Yes many studdies have been carried out over the last 20 years. Studies show that the ordination of women had a positive effect on church attendance, however, studied are clear in their finding regarding the fact that churches and denominations that have become 'woke' or particularly liberal regarding same sex marrage, and lgbtq agendas, have suffered a serious decline in attendance over the past 8 years inparticular. However, these findings tend to be completley ignored despite the CofE being very open about the findings of these studies in its Thological collages.

    I could only listen to half the video. It was too heartbreaking. I will come back in a while and listen to the other half.
    I know this problem very well. My first 42 years were spent in the 🇺🇸 Episcopal Church. During the 1970's this sort of thing was happening in the avant garde churches, like mine in Manhattan, NYC. I hung in until 1993. Then took the class to become Catholic. I was confirmed 1994, Easter Sunday. What a relief. It's was hard at first changing cultures. And I had to accept I will never understand my adopted Church as well as I understood my birth church. Such is it for most converts.
    Now the home of the Anglican Communion has fallen. I am exceedingly sad for my birth church.
    And, there are problems of a serious sort in my Catholic church. A hand carved Amazon River idol was put on an altar inside Vatican City. Pope Francis said that fertility goddess was emblematic of Mary. And he said mass with that wooden idol sitting on the altar! There is so much else going awry under Francis' rule.
    But I thought you'd be interested in Catholic paganism that was introduced by the top man. The Pope.
    We all must find one another and pray for each other. Another time I will post about the prophesies for this time. I believe the prophecies also include the Anglican Communion.
    And Methodism. They are literally splitting. Some greats of the Evangical world have fallen. A year ago it was revealed Ravi Zacharias had a double life; his other life centered around sex. Rick Warren was just ousted from the Southern Baptist convention because he wants to ordain women priests. (Catholics agree with Baptists on that point.)
    End days. Father Dan, perhaps you would reread End Days prophecies in the Bible? That is the best expIanation I can find for all the churches going off the rails.
    God Bless you Father Dan. I receive so many insights from your videos. If the Catholic Church ceases to be itself, I would join GAFCON. God bless you Father!❤❤❤

    A good video, urging us as Christians to be faithful to the Bible and not be swayed by contemporary secular thinking. At the same time we need to be careful not to turn to the secular values of 40-50 years ago, deluding ourselves that they were any closer to the Bible. After 40 years' adult membership of the evangelical movement, I think this has become a growing problem in the last 5 or so years. Many Christians hold a rose-tinted view of the past.

Other examples are some conservatives stating that women with young children should not be in paid employment, that home schooling is a good idea, or that schools should not inform children that homosexuality exits. One thing I believe we could do better as a Church is to talk with LGBT people to understand their situation in more depth, and to give positive encouragement for them to live an abstinent and celibate lifestyle. Communication should be more of a carrot than a stick in manner. We also need to address the high level of mental health issues amongst LGBT Christians, and we do not help our ministry by ignoring this problem.

    DAN: Professor Martyn Percy (late Dean of Christ Church, Oxford) is extremely good on the Church of England's current 'management', in his 'THE FUTURE SHAPES OF ANGLICANISM' (2017); the first couple of chapters of which analyse the difference between 'management' and 'leadership'. The former loathes the charismatic, the prophet, poet, philosopher and - above all - the credentialled THEOLOGIAN. Thus we have bishops who have never taught Theology at university level; but who are good bureaucrats. They prioritise NUMBERS over the QUALITY of membership; when - any Christian who is aware of Primitive Church history - knows that it was the QUALITY of discipleship which got the entire enterprise started. Arguably, it was post the Edict of Milan, and the creation of the 'career-cleric', when everything began to fall apart. A 'priesthood' of careerists will always seek to appoint their own kind: and so we have incompetent nonentities appointing more of the same ilk. I always associate 'woke' with extreme-left (indeed, Communist) activism: and it may be that there are currently bishops who are malevolent toward the Church of England in that way. But my preference is that we no longer have the Ramseys (Arthur Michael, and Ian), the Habgoods, the Robinsons, the Jenkins, the Wrights (yes! And the Percys!) who are capable of practising LEADERSHIP, rather than bureaucratic management. The Church is an institution: not a bureaucracy.

    Christian's believe about God the creator and Jessus his son who was born of Virgin Mary and went on to teach and suffer bleed and died on the cross for all our sin's. So we need to learn to repent our sin's and believe in Jessus Christ. Then hopefully the holy spirit will come to us in our beliefs. So the Trilogy is our beliefs. Just remember the bible teaches that there will be times when our belief's are tested and the devil and the mark of the devil will be ever present. Yes, that particular clip has a very pagan vibe, but the organistion itself is a strictly political campaign group which allows its local groups almost complete autonomy (it's a bottom-up rather than top-down organisation). Yes, the neo-pagan religions are overly represented in XR's membership. But that's because the environment is a big focus in most of these religions, so neo-pagans are much more likely than the average person to join environmental campaign groups in general.

    "...It is little short of astonishing that we can read the New Testament and still believe in the inherent sacredness of places as distinguished from other places. This error is so widespread that one feels all alone when he tries to combat it. It has acted as a kind of dye to colour the thinking of religious persons and has coloured the eyes as well so that it is all but impossible to detect its fallacy. In the face of every New Testament teaching to the contrary it has been said and sung throughout the centuries and accepted as a part of the Christian message, the which it most surely is not. Only the Quakers, so far as my knowledge goes, have had the perception to see the error and the courage to expose it."

    Catholic here. I am so glad that I am not in your personal position. I really feel for Anglican vicars who desire to be true followers of Christ, and wish to lead their congregations with integrity. What is there to be done when you are employees for an organisation that has lost its way when its purpose should be to lead people to God and life everlasting? I don't see a way for the CofE to get out of this unless part of the church were to break away and form its own organisation, or join the Ordinariate.

      The Ordinariate literally cancelled Calvin Robinson and banned him from filming in their main church, because the choir thought he was homophobic. And Pope Francis himself came out in support of Fr. James Martin's Pride conference after orthodox Roman Catholics tried to block it. The Rot is deep and transcends denominations.

    • @jamesaustin1988
      @jamesaustin1988 Рік тому

      @@christopherquinn5899 Nope. Roman Catholics tend to project their Papal polity on to us. Instead of all being subject to a single bishop, all Anglican bishops are supposed to hold each other accountable. The Primate of England is just the Primate of England, and bears no authority over the church in countries outside of his own. He has had a place of prominence in the Anglican Communion historically, but that was because England is the birthplace of Anglicanism and only on the condition that Canterbury upholds the Apostolic faith. Therefore, if the consensus of the world's Anglicans decide that Canterbury has fallen into error and breaks communion with the see, Canterbury no longer holds that place and there is nothing it can do about that except repent.
      Impaired communion means no longer in full communion with a church, and forced communion means being forced to be in communion with a church, i.e. how the rest of the Roman Catholic Church is still in communion, whether they like it or not, with the German bishops because the Pope won't excommunicate them.
      And I might add that the “particular section” that you think should have stayed in the CofE is literally the Ordinary of the Ordinariate.

I disagree with his theology, but I will admire his steadfastness and his principles. I have, however, no time for the Church of England or other alleged churches who submit to whatever happens to be "the current thinking". As an atheist, I don't believe in the concept of sin, so I couldn't care less what people do in the privacy of their own homes. When it comes to marriage, that is as much an ancient cultural institution and I don't believe it should have been radically re-defined to suit a 1% minority, so I actually agree with many Christians on that. "I am a whatever-it-might-be Christian." The criticism of this construction is flawed and detracts from what is otherwise an excellent video.
    Putting Christ first does not mean transgressing the norms of English grammar. In English we put adjectives before the noun; this is not because the adjectives are more important, it's because we are not speaking French or Spanish or some other language where adjectives often follow the noun. Semantically the noun is the most important thing; it tells you about the essence of whatever is being talked about. The adjectives provide additional information which may or may not be important.
    I might say that I am a blue-eyed British Christian, not because I regard my eye colour or Britishness as more important than my Christianity, but quite the opposite. The noun "Christian" tells you what I am fundamentally, my identity if you like, but I also happen to be British (possibly of secondary importance in some contexts) and have blue eyes (normally of no importance whatsoever). If I say that I am a Christian blue-eyed Brit then I am giving pre-eminence to my Britishness, it is my essence, my identity if you like, and I happen also to be Christian and have blue eyes; with this construction Christian is first in terms of word order but not pre-eminent with respect to meaning.
    Putting Christ first should mean giving him the pre-eminence, not placing the word Christian at the beginning of every noun phrase in which it occurs. With respect to this aspect of the English language, the last shall be first, and the first last.

No one disputes this as it is a fundamental asspect of our faith, and if we do not act as the custodians that God made us to be, then that is a serious sin. However, it is an Aspect of our faith, certainly important but an asspect not the entirity of our faith as some would try to make it.

    ROMANS.1:16-32
    16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
    17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
    18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
    19Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
    20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
    21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
    22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
    23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
    24Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
    25Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
    26For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
    27And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    28And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
    29Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
    30Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
    31Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
