  • Compares Estwing Campers Axe 14, Fisgars X7, and wood shafted axes as camp axes. Also reviews 5 issues - such as types of axes and centerline geometry - related to selecting a good camp axe. Explains why I prefer the Estwing for our tool bag.

Thanks for sharing your hard-earned wisdom. You're in our prayers for recovery from mobility and driving issues, and for the Lord's mercy and grace while you are in this time of trial. I can think of many things you could share on your videos. Your book, Basic Tent Camping, is a wealth of information to draw from. I find this book a treasure trove of wisdom.

Thanks Kelly, I don’t recognize your name but it sounds like you have been a follower for some time. I haven’t looked at that book for some time and think about how much my ideas have changed over the past 10 years. And I wonder if there is anything of value in that book. It needs revision buy someone else will have to do it. Thank you for your prayers. This aging process has been hard for me. I was in such good health just a few years ago but it has declined so quickly - to the point that I can’t walk very far at all without resting. I’ve been to several Doctors and the only answer I get is arthritis. Doesn’t sound bad at all? Oddly, my younger sister has almost identical symptoms and has had several surgeries including a new hip and a new knee without much relief. Thanks for your note.

@@moderntentcamping My name is actually John, but our UA-cam account is associated with my wife's (Kelly's) e-mail. We've been watching for about 5 years and have also watched many of your saved videos. Your book is very relevant in my opinion. For example, the sections on knots, camping ethics and even tent types best suited to car camping are very useful. I especially appreciate the text concerning camp etiquette, and how to respond to situations where camp neighbors lack such common courtesies. My wife and I continue to pray for you and Eva. Our Lord is acquainted with suffering and will walk through our trials with us. This sounds so cliche, but it reflects our life experience. I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease about 3 years ago, and though it has not impacted me too much physically at this point, it's something that is a trial that the Lord has helped me through. Blessings to you and Eva. My heart is that He'd heal your arthritis.

Good to see you posting videos again Frazier. You are looking well, and as usual, sharing your expertise with all of us. We have a wood handled hatchet that seems to be fine. I don't remember the name of it though.

Mrbr, it’s great to hear from you again. I’m having problems walking, standing and driving - and these problems have kept me from going on camping trips. Didn’t get out last year and may not get out this year. I’m still interested in camping equipment, history, and procedures but I’m running out of ideas for videos. May be another several months before you see another video. Hope you are doing well. Regards to your family.

@@moderntentcamping Sorry to hear that. I hope things go better for you in the days ahead. But in the meantime, you can do sit down videos when you like, and I'm sure we will all enjoy them.

Thanks Jason. I always look forward to seeing your comments. You’ve been a follower for a long time. I don’t remember seeing your videos for a couple of weeks. Did you take a vacation. Or have I been sleeping? You don’t use that maul for splitting firewood do you? Hope your family is well. Take care.

@moderntentcamping ... You are welcome. No vacation, just working a lot, just been tired. It has rained just about every weekend for the past 2 months. I'll be going on a trip the first weekend of May.
