Good upgrade guide. Maybe i would swap the Etched Champion with the Kappa Cannoneer from the Kamigawa precon as a bigger unblockable selfprotected threat.. With the huge amount of Artifact tokencreations the Canonneer shoud not cost much more mana than the Champion and constantly grows bigger and becomes unblockable and he protects himself with ward 4.
Glad you enjoyed it! I agree - Kappa Cannoneer would make for a solid addition thanks to being reliable unblockable, Ward 4 having a high enough value to make it decently resilient, and it psuedo-karnstruct growth via +1/+1 counters making it yet another threat that our opponents would have to content with. Its $4 price tag is a bit too pricy to say within this budget, but would be a good addition if going over budget or if you have a copy already. Good suggestion!
Hello, great video, just one question regarding boardwipes in this deck. It says in the end analysis that it contains 3 board wipes after upgades, those being their name is death and organic extinction, which one is the 3rd? we cut austere command for artificer class, doesnt that make only 2 board wipes? Thank you
Do artifact creatures survive elesh norns argent etchings? Destroy all other permanents except for artifacts, lands, and Phyrexians. Exile The Argent Etchings, then return it to the battlefield (front face up).
Hello! I find it strange to see Darksteel Juggernaut and Filigree Attendant being kept, since basically every other upgrade video ditches them. Any suggestions on how to switch them for better artifact creature cards?
Personally I like them both in this deck as payoffs for our go wide token artifact gameplan but if your looking to swap them out - Etherium Spinner may warrent consideration as another artifact that can passively create artifact tokens as we cast our higher cmc spells & Urza, Prince of Kroog is a a copy of Tempered Steel on legs that can get us more copies of our artifacts in play once we have the mana. Hope that helps!
These upgrades reminds me of the Chippy deck from a little while back; loved that deck, so would be neat to see thos ideas brought into Brother's War. Going to have to vote for Feldon as that just looks like the toughest build of these three
The Reality Chip is probably one of the more fun/powerful builds I've tackled so its good to hear you enjoyed it as well! Also, thanks for voting! Feldon has a long way to go to catch up to the other contenders on this weeks ballot, but we still have some time so anything can happen!
great video! looking forward to misha rb! as a minor nickpick I would like to see the keepers after the upgrades in the precons or to see what you swap for the new includes. just a thought but i'm always more interested to know what you add rather than what you keep
@@terms7966 Auton Soldier is a must add imo. Securitron Squadron from fallout works insanely well, and I highly recommend including Paladin Dance as protection for both Urza and your artifacts.
Hi do you have any alternatives for the WH40K cards Canoptek Spyder and Cryptothrall? They're so hard to find, if not impossible. Also do you have any plans for commander videos based on the Transformers cards in The Brothers War set?
Love the upgrade guide, I was lookin forward for this video! For a non budget upgrade Esper Sentinel could be a great addition, with all the lords in the deck the card drawing effect should be near automatic! And I second the question: if I don't want to use the 40k cards, what you would suggest using?
If I do, it would have to be a increased budget build or something, because the merge commanders are a bit pricier than what I usually cover. That said - I wouldn't be opposed to it!
im loving the artifact commanders so far, i pulled this commander from the draft packs, constructing my own artifact commander an its a overwhelming with all the artifact supports before the brothers war was accounce
Yeah, The Brothers War certainly gave us a lot of artifact support to work with, so these commander and old ones alike have a lot of new toys to work with!
Gotta say, these two precon upgrades may have been your best ones yet, given how much I now want them to face off against each other in a 1on1 of sorts... amazing video as always! As for the new vote... Imma be real with you, they all feel a bit too much like pieces of tech instead of commanders. Maybe it's because of how small they are statwise? Ah well, my vote goes to Feldon cause with him at least it's tricky as all hell. Or we get budget Prosper. We'll see. Day 465 of waiting for the Grazzet face reveal. Did you watch the newest episode of Game Knights? Cause I loved it aside from one bit you will probably be able to find in the comments. (Seriously, Prof, how can you spread such misinformation... JK.)
Glad to hear that you've been enjoying the precons this time around! Regarding the poll line-up - that's a fair assessment - though I personally feel that there is enough meat on these mono colored commander to get a decent build out of them! I have not had the chance to see the latest gamenights yet - I'll have to check it our soon to see what you mean!
Counterspell is going to be generally better for sure but the difference between Disruption Protocols $0.04 cost vs Counterspells nearly $2 is significant enough for me to run it to stay within budget without suffering too many performance issues (since it will function as a counterspell 99% of the time). Still, if you have a counterspell already or don't mind going over budget - adding it in over Disruption Protocol would indeed make the build slightly more reliable.
The Ashnod the Uncaring build will be dropping next week (the polls run 2 weeks before the video drops to give me plenty of time to build the deck and test) - so hang tight, because its coming soon!
Now that the Secret Lair commander decks are (hopefully) in people's hands, are you going to take a crack at an upgrade? I think it'd be a pretty interesting video
I'm a bit surprised that this is yet another guide to upgrade the precons, which advises new border cards, where I think a big draw of these decks is the fact that all the cards in the precon are old border. In addition, some cards really don't fit flavor wise... This isn't the strongest commander (and this is an understatement), so I think that for the majority of people who upgrade this commander deck, the border and flavor are really important factors and should be taken into account.
I agree with you in principle. The old card borders were definitely a draw for me, as I'm fond of them (I actually built a Krenko deck because it let me run so many old card borders) but holding to that limitation really shrinks the pool of viable upgrades so I think Grazzet can be forgiven for using newer card borders. Nonetheless, I feel I should reiterate that I very much sympathize with your flavor concerns. I can't think of anything off the top of my head but there's probably something in the Mishra precon that would be good here (since the two precons share the Blue and Black colors) while still being classic bordered.
While I can see this build go heavy on low cost artifact creatures to get Urza out ASAP - This build is still more than capable of getting Urza down relatively quickly without having to invest in lots of small artifact creatures - being more focused on being a more mid-range build - so I feel like calling it can failure is a bit harsh, considering it performs rather well, but you are entitled to your opinion.
