Nice to meet you and the fam! I love my ORV. I too had done my research and the camping I’ve done my whole life has been off the beaten path! I’m also by myself a huge part of the time, but I also needed to be able to grab the grands and take them with me every chance I get!!! Reliable, safe, prepared, and rugged with plenty of space was what I needed and what I got!!! GP F28RKS for my retirement! Thanks for sharing your journey!!!
Great meeting you as well! It's hard to complain about such a solid travel trailer! Kudos to ORV and great choice on your part. Wishing you well and adventurous travels!
We love our ORV 24RKS. We have had it for 3 years and just completed a 3 month trip around the country. We don’t boondock much but still love the bigger tanks. We are fortunate that we have a dealer in our town so we only had to drive 1 mile to get our rig. We just found your channel and are enjoying watching your adventures.
We have ORV 24RLS now. We have one on order it’s the ORV 280KVS it’s bigger lots of counter top can’t wait for it to come in. Love all the windows and the tanks sizes ! We love boondocking so this is the brand for us too. Happy camping!
Great video. The only two things about ORV I might change would be the use of Azdel over luan, and the choice/location of the solar change controller (I’d prefer Victron mounted in the front storage, with remote display mounted by the rest of the controls instead of over the bed.
Jeff, we totally agree on all fronts. ORV is awesome, but missing the boat on Azdel. I'm confident they'll get there in time. Yes, Victron is more the "ORV caliber," but I believe the Zamp contract goes back before Victron's popularity. Oh if we could only design our own perfect boondocking rig based on all of our and the viewers combined experience, it would be amazing! Thanks so much for watching Jeff and we wish you well!
@@ResetYourJourney Yeah I think I saw something where they chose Zamp to do business with a local company or something, and they are quality, but the ability to have a remote monitor allows the controller to be closer to the batteries for less loss while having the display somewhere more sensible than over the bed. If I were to buy an ORV I’d hope to keep it for many years. I’ve seen luan type stuff separate where there didn’t seem to be water intrusion (I presume age, flexing, extreme temperatures got it). I don’t see azdel as a guarantee against delamination, but I think it might help. When a RV gets scrapped, widespread delamination is often the issue that totaled it. JMHO.
So true! Almost every ORV owner we bumped into boondocking had replaced their Zamp with Victron for good reason. And we have come across some impressive set ups. Turkey time!!!!
Agreed, but I sadly cannot take credit. I left that on in honor of the previous owner who was an outstanding individual and was instrumental in teaching me about the systems in the ORV. Appreciate you following along and commenting. Wishing you well!
Great video! We just discovered your channel and subbed. We are getting out new ORV in a couple months, and we found it funny that our decision had also come down to ATC and ORV. 😁
That's not a surprising coincidence. I think both brands are the cream of the crop. Thank you for subscribing and great feedback. No doubt, you'll be really happy with your ORV. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Thanks again and we wish you well.
They definitely are built solid. Unfortunately, ORV only has those brown cabinets. My wife doesn’t like brown wood grain. Wish they had a more modern option.
You just stated our biggest complaint about ORV. Every owner seems to scratch their head and state, "really!" We couldn't agree more! Although we came across one that was painted inside. It was OK. Appreciate you following along and commenting! Wishing you well.
We can definitely attribute to how well our ORV handles on some of the worst terrain. It wasn't even that difficult to replace parts of the suspension. We've toured both in our adventures and would still go with ORV. That said, I still believe Arctic Fox is a solid trailer. Let us know what you decide. Wishing you well!
Hi Corina. You won't be disappointed with ORV. We've toured and pondered so many brands and yet our "old" ORV has stood the test of time. Especially for fulltime boondocking. Let us know what direction you take. Thank you so much for commenting and we appreciate you following along 😀.
Have you had any leaks issues? With the luan and wood used, leaks mean moisture inside the build. Moisture means mold. Have you experienced any of that. I'm also not a fan of the roof material over the marine plywood. Would rather see a one piece aluminum like ATC. Or even a one piece fiberglass cap of course tree limbs would be more of a hazard to fiberglass than aluminum or the membrane material ORV uses. That being said the downside to ATC is #1 insulation factor and #2 ORV has a better suspension set up.
Bryan, you and I are thinking exactly the same on all points. How wonderful would a well insulated ATC be!? We have not experienced any leaking or moisture issues with any aspect of our ORV. No issues with any of the construction so far either. I'm shocked no manufacturer has married aluminum, good Insulation and great suspension.... Thanks for commenting Bryan.
We have been using campers with luan and wood for the last 13 years and have never had a leak or any mold. I wouldn’t worry about this if I were you. There are no perfect campers…ORV has updated their roof to PVC and I have that on another camper and it’s easy to clean, durable and reflects the sun nicely away for the rest of the camper. Good Luck
My husband and I are seriously considering the 260RKS. I absolutely love that it’s built like a tank. My only concern is what is gas mileage like? Do you recommend gasoline or diesel? Your family is adorable❣️
Thank you so much for the kind words Robin! We pull with a 2017 f250 diesel and average 11.8 mpg when towing. When we bought the ORV, we originally towed with a Chevy Express with the same gas engine as a Hummer. We averaged 8 mpg and I would not have trusted it to do mountain passes. Especially without an engine brake. The one thing that always kills fuel economy for the diesel is towing in windy conditions (especially the southwest). Otherwise, it's pretty consistent. So, with that lengthy reply, having towed our ORV with both, I suggest diesel. The 260RKS is a nice layout. Let us know if you order one. Wishing you well.
We've been in a lot of RV'S and campers and found very few this well built. We have no affiliation with ORV whatsoever and gave this review on our own free will. We also beat the trailer to death and it kept asking for more. I believe that justifies sharing our opinion. Otherwise, what's the point of UA-cam?
You can't go wrong with either brands Tanner. Think about the way you'll use the camper most of the time. If it's in parks, the water capacity, cost of utility and cargo carrying capacity will bee less important. But if you're boondocking most of the time, more fresh water capacity, a lower cost to run utilities and more cargo capacity should weigh heavily on your decision. Thank you so much for watching and hanging with us! Let us know which camper you choose. Wishing you well!
Yes sir! But sadly cannot take credit. I'm a brat from a different branch. I left that on in honor of the previous owner since he was instrumental in assisting us in the beginning of our journey. He exemplifies the qualities one would expect in the organization.

I just don’t think They have the best made RVs for long term use and heres why They still pinch roll on luan (not vacuum bonded or do they use Azdel) 2. They really should use 12V frid they’re so much better. They say their built solid but you can still find plenty of reviews on them for leaks and terrible costumer service In my opinion Jayco Eagle Ht make better looking and better build options, in my opinion
All valid points. Agreed, they (all) should use 12 volt refrigerators... it almost seems like a no brainer, which is a head scratcher. Our older ORV does seem to be better built than newer models, but I guess that could depend on the day. We have yet to find a rig that's perfect. I think ATC comes close. If they were only super insulated (if one can use that phrase alongside RV), they'd have nailed it. Thank you for commenting and we wish you well.

One can always buy a dehumidifier for the RV and run it when in highly humid climates or long rainy days to help prevent any moisture build-up.

I'm stuck between a ORV Backcountry Series or a Lance...
The interior construction quality of a Lance is easily better than a ORV.
