I fell in love w/this album 'bout 50 yrs. ago & it's just as good as the first time I heard it~! Great music truly is timeless, just wish I was timeless too! I can unnerstand 85 people liking this but 3 "thumbs-down"?? How can ya NOT like these guys?? They played right near me @ RPI College, in Troy NY almost 15 yrs. ago and still blew me (us) away~! RIP Kingston Trio, your music will be with us ALWAYS...
A different day and time, when a man's word was his bond, his wife was his eternal companion, and lines were not crossed, but for the risk of tragedy. Poignant, memorable, and done in their typical inimitable style. Many a beautiful afternoon has been sent musing the words and works of these masterful performers. We are so fortunate to have them presented for us here by those who took the time to preserve this music. This really is music!
@@marknewton6984 It is hard to argue with that. You know, when I have to choose a favorite, I have about 50 tied for #1. One of the lesser know one is an all time fav, Gue,Gue. And later in the twlight was The Dutchman. Just a little shift in moods can change the songs.
I really loved this song by these guy's when I was a kid. It has been 30 yrs since last I heard it. Decided to do an a cappella version then looked and found this..Beautiful. Well I am going to post my not so great version I hope it is ok. Thanks Brady.
One of The Kingston Trio's most under-rated and minimally appreciated songs, Claudia. I loved to play this one when I was a kid - a minor key classic. Cordially, John
That was when television was something! Programs like the U.S. Steel Hour brought live dramas every week. Back when the actors performed live, without all the modern day electronic tricks. That was the golden age of television. Gone, and never to be seen again. All the live shows, from comedy to drama; gone! Sad.
Wow, I think I've heard this once before years ago. Thanks for posting it. The story sounds reminiscent of "El Paso", but from the young cowboy's point of view. Maybe?

@@ssgtsouth And Remember the Alamo always brings tears to my eyes...
Their 4th album "At Large" was a masterpiece.
You can hear how they loved singing with each other! - the blend beyond words!
Well it lasted only until 1961 when Dave Guard decided to leave. Pity
Their best album! Thanks have ALL their vinyls.

I love The Kingston Trio, my father played their records to me when I was a young boy. The vocal harmonies are unmatched.

Their voice coach suggested this song to them and they decided to record it.
*THE BIG VALLEY*
Cheyenne!
A great version but the original version by Tex Ritter circa 1954 capitol and was the B. side of The Bandit is still the best
Might be that one can appreciate music without politics getting involved.
What? No bardy-Obama anti-gun complaints?
