Thank you for talking about the cool down phase!! Girl, I thought my butter was nice and fluffy and then I picked it up to put it in the piping bag.
When I say it was crumbling 😭😭. I let it sit for a sec and then whipped again! It came out good, but I don't want it to happen again.
Yes!! Cool down phase is very important! How long did you let it sit before trying to pip it?!
@@bettergrowth_ Well I contemplated for a minute or so, so I'd say about a minute 😅😂. Even as I was Whipping it, it still looked crazy, but then it finally started coming together!
First time viewer. And you gained a sub. Love the genuineness and calmness you put into the details and video.
Also, when I start I think I’ll do hardest to melt first, and then highest melting point to the lowest melting point. Especially that coconut oil. you could probably just put that in off the heat.
Yes, new subbie!!
That's a great way to go about it because you don't want to overheat the oils!!
I have watched a ton of these body butter videos and I must say, this is the best I've seen for explanation purposes! Most of them actually leave room for mistakes to be made! If I had to offer any advice on this video, I'd have to say it would be nice if you'd offer a substitute for the beeswax, unfrac. coconut oil and the stearic acid; just as you did for the arrow root powder! I could be wrong but, to me that's the natural thing to do! Because when you watch tons of these recipes, you know everyone can't buy every ingredient that you guys mention because everyone wants their recipes to be different! I thank Tara Lee for listing her choice of the top ten ingredients for beginners. I wish you would to the same because you both use different ingredients! Like I said, you're one of the best but, the fact that I'm sitting here trying to decide if i can use my emulsifying wax NF for beeswax tells me that you can be better! Thanks for what you already do!
I really appreciate this comment more then you know! I definitely want to content to get better and be more informative. I will definitely add substitutes in to my videos from now on. You are so correct. Not everyone has access to the same ingredients or wants to even use the same ones i use! I LOVE the idea of make an Top Ingredients List for Beginners! I will be working on that! So thank you!
As far as the beeswax there are great alternatives that carry the same benefits that’s emulsifying wax will not. Here are so alternative to beeswax: Candelilla Wax, Carnauba Wax, and even Soy Wax.
Again, I really appreciate your feedback! If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to ask! ☺️
@@bettergrowth_ thank you so much for replying and saving me from making a huge mistake! I love the way you present yourself and I can't wait for you to give us your top ten BEGINNERS list! I've seen videos that should come with warnings because you need to be a chemist to use the ingredients properly
I appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing your knowledge with us! I have watched quite a few of your videos and I love the way you present the information and how easily I can understand it because of how you can relay everything so smoothly!! I have a quick question that I could not find in the videos I have seen so far. When developing your products in the formula, how are you coming up with the percentages on the products? I know the IFRA has a % for fragrance, but I don't understand the percentages of the other ingredients, is it made up to how you want the consistency to be, or is there a standard on each ingredient like the fragrance?
Thank you again so much for making these helpful videos!
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I’m so glad to help!! I can definitely make a video on this. All the ingredients you use have a usage rate. It really depends on the kind of ingredient/what texture or feel you are looking for!
Just found your channel- great video! And, your skin and hair are the best advertisement for natural body products I've ever seen.
Thanks so much! Welcome to the fam!!😊🤗
Wow! The best tutorial I've seen so far. Very detailed!
Thank you so much!! I’m smiling so hard right now!! 😄
Thanks very much love for sharing .If u will be kind enough to let me know what I did wrong .I followed the formula u have for the body better. It was very silky and fluffy when I made it but I put then in containers and then in the next day it was very solid .What do u think I did wrong
Did you use the same exact ingredients or did you change any of them?
In your opinion what can you replace the coco butter with? I don’t like a chocolatey smell even with refined it still has that chocolatey smell… also is there something you can exchange out the 76 coconut oil with?
Thank you in advance!!!
If you are looking for a substitute for cocoa butter, you can try using kokum butter. It has similar properties to cocoa butter and are often used as a replacement in formulations.
As for the 76 coconut oil, it is often used because of its stability and ability to remain solid at room temperature. However, you can try using fractionated coconut oil or another liquid oil, such as sweet almond oil or jojoba oil, as a substitute. Keep in mind that the properties of the final product may be slightly different depending on the oil you choose to use.
@@bettergrowth_ Thanks so much I’m going to try that!!!
Of course😊
Thanks for going into such detail! Your hair is fabulous 😍♥️
You are so welcome! ☺️
You are the best for this … Thank you for giving back Queen
Aww your so sweet 🥹
Hi love thanks for your video I’m a new fan! Is it possible to use jojoba oil instead of coconut oil?
If I run out of Cocoa Butter wafers what would be a good replacement? Also does whipping the butter make it less greasy?
Kukum butter is a good substitute for cocoa butter. Whipping the butter makes it more fluffy and softer of a product. It doesn't change the greasiness.
Can I substitute the coconut oil for mango butter to give the firmness? If so, would I still need to use the beeswax?
Yes, you can! Mango butter is very lightweight and soft, so that can really work here. I would test it without beeswax. If you find that it's still too soft then I would add about 4% to the formula and adjust from there.
I love ya girl, You have really helped me learn a lot, Thank you for sharing your knowledge and helping others.

So nice of you! Glad I could help.😄
Thank you so much for this video I was struggling making my batches.
You are so welcome! 😊
@@bettergrowth_ do you have a good recipe for hair oil I have a real dry scalp.
HI, My obfuscation is I see that you gave the percentages of each ingredient but I do not know what that means, what 40% is or 5% of an ingredient is, etc... I need measurements, like grams or oz. example; 5 oz of shea butter , 2oz of oil.. etc etc.. As you can see I do not do well with %. LOL!!
I totally get it!! I know it can be confusing. Watching my How To Calculate Formulas from Percentage To Ounce video. I also have a spreadsheet that I talk about in the video that will help you set up your formulas! Here’s the link.
ua-cam.com/video/kMspVC3QzVI/v-deo.html
Question for you- what do you use to create fun colors? Like the pink shown in the video
Yes I use micas to color my body butter
I'm obsessed with how Planet Ayurveda's Rose Honey Body Butter melts into my skin, leaving it feeling silky and smelling absolutely divine.
This video is awesome. Thank you for sharing this knowledge!
Absolutely! 💗 Let me know if there is other content you would like to see!
Great recipe! Thanks for sharing! Have you ordered your Stearic acid from the specific supplier you linked in the description box? I read quite a few reviews where leop mentioned that their Stearic acid did not melt completely.
Thanks so much! 😊 I did use the link listed. Stearic acid does have a melting point of 156 degrees F. So it’s going to take longer to melt then your other ingredients. Let me know when you try the formula. I’d love to know what you think. 🤗
If you were to add Rosehip oil to this formula, what percentage would it be on this formula?
Can I put it in place of the fragrance at 4%?
I would first test out adding 10% Rosehip Oil and go from there. I would take the 10% from the coconut oil.
Thank you 🙏🏾
You’re welcome!
Hi. I ordered the clear Jojoba oil b6 mistake. Can I still use it or should I order the golden Jojoba oil?
Can the body butter be used directly after making it? Great video n explanations
Absolutely. 💕
Thank you so much for this video, very helpful. I’m excited to get started and will be using your videos as a guide. My question is getting precise measurements. Does the scale measure in percentage?
I'm so glad this has been helpful to you! The scale will measure in grams or oz. The percentage is to help with how much of each ingredient you need. If you need 40% shea butter and make 8oz jar of body butter you can would need 3.2 oz of the butter.
Thank you, I appreciate you responding most don’t. Also, Math is not my strong suit. So example if I need 50% shea butter making 8oz jar of butter I would need 4.0 oz of the butter. Don’t worry about embarrassing me lol. This is all a teaching tool for me @@bettergrowth_

I use refined because I like to use fragrance oil but the shea smell still over powers the scent. How do I combat that?
Well, what percentage of fragrance are you using? Refined shea butter will still have a scent just not as strong.
I use 1.5 percent because I thought 2 was the max. Maybe a better quality fragrance oil?
I have a video that goes over the percentages for essential oils and fragrance oil there is no universal percentage each has its own load and they have supporting docs
Thank you. I will check it out!
as always. Thank You.

Hello, thank you for this very detailed video! I followed this formula and used your spreadsheet to calculate the oz’s. My body butter came out great, packed it in a small jar, used it the same night and I loved how it felt on my skin. However, in the morning the body butter hardened and hasn’t softened 2 days later. To get some out of the jar I have to warm it with my fingers or scrape some out. I live in Oakland, CA… it’s cold at night but warm in the day. Am I not whipping the butter enough? I made 4oz and let it cool down/ whipped it twice. I don’t want to adjust the formula since I love how it feels on my skin. Do you know what I’m doing wrong or any suggestions? Thank you either way!
I'm glad you like the formula! I'm just curious if you made any changes to the formula. Did you use the same ingredients?
First of all you are frickin beautiful and so is your back drop 😍 ok back to watching the video 😊
Haha you are so sweet!! Thanks beautiful! Enjoy the video! 😊😊💕
Great video, thank you for sharing your information.
I do have a question; instead of beeswax is there a plant-based version to your knowledge? I'm new at this. I have researched soaps however I want to incorporate butter in my sales too.
Sure! You can use Candelilla Wax as a great alternative.
@bettergrowth_ thank you so much for replying. I will check in to it. Have a great week!
Thank you very informative 💚
Hi just came across your channel i would've like this same recipe in ounces for a newbe trying to figure out

Glad to help ☺️💕
Thank you for making this video. Can you please give me an example with ounces. Possibly to make 1- 8 oz jar?

When you add the arrowroot powder in that stage, you don’t find it stays almost chalky?
I made a batch that way and they didn’t really blend well into it.
Do you have any advice?? Thank you agaib
Thank you!! I'm glad it was helpful! 🥰 How much Arrowroot powder did you add to your formula?
I really would love for u to show the process of u making it
This is a step by step going over the process. Do you have any questions about the steps I sent over?
@@bettergrowth_ no like a video of u making it while ur talk ur also showing us how to make it like the process like u mixing the ingredients
I'll consider this. Thank you! ☺️
Thanks for sharing your video....👍🙂
So nice of you you’re welcome
Can I remove beeswax. I tried this formula it came out well, the only problem the beeswax doesn't spread well when applying. It even settles down
Yes, you can remove beeswax. It's a very hard wax so, you have to allow it to melt completely.
Hi love your video! I was wanting to add in magnesium into my body butter at which phase should I add? The melting phase or the cool down phase?
You would add it in after you melt down the butters and oils.
Can I substitute Babassu oil for the coconut oil? Also could I use mango butter in place of cocoa butter?
Yes! Babassu is a great replacement. But mango butter is much softer than cocoa butter and will make the formula softer. I would use kukum butter.
Can you use this formula in both winter and summer season
This is my summer formula because it's going to be a bit firmer to hold up in the heat. ☺️
Thank you
How abt preservative
Anhydrous (oil based) products don’t need preservatives because there’s no water content
Love this! ❤️
🙈
Thank you so much for this video
A preservative is not necessary for this body butter formula due to it being anhydrous. But if you want to add one Optiphen and Phenonip are two good options. ☺️💕
In this formula can I also add other carrier oils and how much percentage for fragrance and micas?
You can substitute the carrier oils with other ones depending on the benefits are would like the product to have. As far as fragrance the % is based on the fragrance you purchased. I usually start with 4%.
For the mica, it can be around 2% depending on the desired color.
Great video!! ❤
I'm glad you found it helpful!! 🥰🥰
Ok I'm back (😭). I have a question.
I made a test batch last night and thought I had the perfect texture! And i did, until i checked this morning. It's back to a hard texture. Now, it's not as hard, but it's not the texture I want. What am I doing wrong?
I'm thinking of going with an emulsified butter instead.
I know testing can be hard!! Don’t give up! Are you using the same % as me?
@@bettergrowth_There's a possibility my butter percentage is too high!
Mine is usually between 60-65%. This could be causing it to harden. However, I made a small batch last night and added cetyl alcohol and the texture isn't too bad!
60% is pretty high. I would go for like 30-40%. Also, take into account the change in weather. If it’s hot where you are and it’s still pretty hard that means your butter % is too high.
@@bettergrowth_Thanks so much for the clarification! I definitely will work on that butter percentage (may have to give some updates ha ha).
Is the beeswax and must have? I'm trying to work with what I have before buying more products.
Absolutely! Beeswax really can make a difference in stability of your body butter. I use no more then 6%. Test with what you have.
But keep making adjustment! It will come out right!! Please more updates!! ☺️☺️
Hi sis I love watching your videos.. question how do I make a large batch with this formula? Thank you..
Absolutely!! 💕 To make a bulk batch just multiply the percentage by the amount you want to make to get the exact measurement. For example 40% X 50oz = 20oz
@@bettergrowth_ thank for answering.
You are welcome 😊
Thank you
You're welcome
Great video!!!
Thank you so much!!
Whats more better body oil or body butter
I think it depends on what it's used for. Body butter is great for patchy dry skin. Whole body oil is a great lightweight moisturizer
@@bettergrowth_ thank you
One last question do I take away from the coconut oil when adding fragrance and shimmer powder? I saw your other video but not sure with this recipe what to subtract when adding the mica powder and fragrance
You can take from the coconut oil for the fragrance oil. But you can just add mica. Just measure how much you use to make sure it’s consistent!
Quick question. For the formulas u provide are they for the size jars u use or just in general
It’s just in general. I have the formula is % so that you can make what ever size you want.
Thank you for your time afforded. Can you please tell me what app to use for % in order to get ounces. Thank you
Absolutely! In the description box there is a link for my formulation spreadsheet. With that you will be able to put in the % of each ingredient and how many oz you want to make.
Hey ya! I want to make a salve using this recipe..how much would I need to increase the beeswax to?
I start with 25% beeswax and see how you like it
Amazing content thank you one question if I want to make it fragrance free where would I add the 4% ?
Many thanks look forward to more videos
Hello thank you so much 😆….if you want fragrance free add the 4% to the coconut oil portion.
Great👍🏻 thank you for your swift reply 😁
You’re welcome ☺️
Mentor lol 😂 question which ingredient or percentage of which makes it a little more oily? I made a batch using level 4. Omggg it’s so velvety soft and moisturizing! But I want to see a little more oily or shine, not chicken grease shine 😅😅
The way I just yelped reading this!!! 🤣😂😂I love you☺️!!!! I get what you mean. I would put the arrowroot at 2 or 3% instead of 5 and the remaining 2% in the coconut oil. The arrowroot soaks up the oil, so I think removing it a little bit will bring it back. But don't make 100oz this time!! 😉
I love you too! You are the best and your content is amazing…Lol and will try that. It also after it settled in my tester jars it felt a little dry and crumbly texture, but definitely melted in my hands. Going to do another batch. Thanks so much 🥰
The way I screamed at 100oz 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m doing 6oz this time. I wasted lol so all these are giveaways lol 😆 I got like 18 small jars 😩🤣
🥰🥰 yeah I think that maybe the arrowroot because it can soak up so much of your product!!
Oh my!!! That’s a lot!! But that’s a good idea to have them as giveaways. 👍🏾😊
Thank you for this!! Will definitely send you a gift once I get orders. ❤
You are so sweet! I wish you so much success!☺️
@@bettergrowth_ I also downloaded the links you provided. Definitely helpful! Again, thank you. I wish success for you as well 🥳❤️
@user-nx8bc1eq4i Thank you so much. Let me know if you have any questions about the spreadsheets!
Can you add a different carrier oil that is liquid instead of the unfractionaed coconut oil? If so will the percentage be the same?
Yes, you can. I would put oils at 10 to 15% and add the remainder back into the shea butter and stearic acid to add back firmness.
Thank you so much. I appreciate your knowledge base as well as your willingness to share your expertise. I’m so excited and extremely nervous to try my hand at my 1st batch of body butter 😊 However, with your directions I must admit I feel more confident.
Love this 😘
Thanks sis !! 🥰
Thank you so much! I just had a question when to add the carrier oils?
Which ones in particular are you speaking of ?
@@bettergrowth_ I mean in general when to add the carrier oils to body butter like sweet almond oil?
In the cool down phase would make the most sense
@@bettergrowth_ thank you 😊
Your welcome 🤗
Hi, thanks for the information. I tried your formula and test it the product on my skin and after putting it on my skin started to itch. Do you know what may cause the itching?
Interesting! I’m so sorry to hear that! Maybe you are allergic to an ingredient. Are any of these ingredients new to you?
@Better Growth I have used the ingredients in other products. I made sure to buy a scale to measure the ingredients accurately. I am wondering if I should reduce the stearic acid to 6% instead of 10%.
@@bettergrowth_ thanks for responding So quickly
Good information indeed, do you perhaps have 1 without beeswax, just to accommodate vegans?
Absolutely! If you don’t want to use beeswax you can use Candelilla wax, Carnauba wax, or even Soy Wax!
Thank you so much for this
Your welcome 🤗
I can't see what you mentioned yesterday
I’m sorry. What are you referring too?
If I don’t want to use beeswax can I up the cocoa butter % instead? I want my product to be vegan and the alternative is not cost effective not in the U.K. anyway . Does the beeswax just help firmness in the formula? X
Beeswax is very beneficial in body butter it Improves skin barrier function, is Soothing and anti-inflammatory, and adds Long-lasting moisturization. I think something like beeswax is better than adding more cocoa butter.
What alternative were you looking into? Because there are a few options.
@@bettergrowth_ can I use emulsified wax instead of beeswax
Wooow such an informative video!!!❤
Thank you so much for this ,
So if I am hearing you correctly, if I want to have different scents it would be advisable to use refined butters ?
What percentage should one use to add a preservative ?
Thank you so much!! I’m glad it was helpful!! Yes that is correct. The refined option tends to not have a strong odor or none at all. When I make my body butters I usually marking about 4 to 5% of fragrance. It really depends on the fragrance so it’s great to always check the usage rate!
Pls can u state what preservatives r best for this formulation..thanks
This is body butter so you need preservatives but you do need antioxidants like vitamin E. If you want to add a preservative I would use Optiphen or Phenonip, just make sure it's Oil Soluble.
@@bettergrowth_ thanks ok..I thought I heard water soluble..great thanks
When can I add in my other oils
You can add oils in during the melt down process or after you take it off the double boiler.
I ran across your channel looking for body oil and I’m hooked lol and watching them all. So I watched your other body butter video levels 1-4. So if I did your level 4, would these percentages be correct? Arrowroot 2%, Shea butter 40%, cocoa butter 10%, coconut oil 10%, IPM 5%, steric acid 10%, beeswax 5%, vitamin e 1%. Does these look ok? I’m definitely going to text but wanted your feedback. Thanks!
Thanks for the support!! I'm glad you have found the info helpful!! Remember your formula should equal 100% in total. So it should look like
Shea Butter 40%
Cocoa Butter 10%
Unfractionated coconut oil 25%
IPM 5%
Beeswax 4%
Stearic acid 10%
Arrowroot powder 5%
Vitamin E Oil 1%
If you want to add fragrance. You can take up to 5% from the coconut oil depending on the fragrance you have.
Got it! Thank you so much can’t wait to get my supplies back .
Exciting !! 😍
What do you mean by %, I usually measure in grams and ounces
@@celestewatkins8888 When formulating, it is best to have all ingredients in % so that you have more consistency throughout your product.
Hi, when should we mix the stearic acid?? im trying to find on the comment but cant find it, and is that ok to skip the arrowroot powder?? thankyou in advance
You want to add it in with the butters and oils to melt. I like the arrowroot power because give a nice luxury feel to the body butter. You can skip it if you prefer.
Would i be able to use shea butter and mango butter?
Yes, you can use both. You can do 50/50 or do more shea than mango. Either way! ☺️💕
Thank you so much
You're most welcome ☺️
Very great but please
More practical than the theory 🙏
Hi i love body butter, i don't understand the measurements, as you have it in %
Yess it’s my favorite moisturizer!! The % can definitely be confusing!! I have a video explaining how to convert from % to OZ. Here’s the link!

Please ma I have facial inflammation and I want to change my skin tone back to my normal complexion I use a lightening product and I don’t want to continue anymore please can I use Shea butter please help me 😢
Aww I complete understand. The thing with lightening products is you skin may not change back. You need a cream that will help the inflammation.
@@bettergrowth_ those that mean I can’t use Shea butter ma 😭😭 what can I use to stop the inflammation 🥺
How do i change the percentage measurements to oz or grams ?
Multiply the percentage by the oz or gram you want to make. Example 40% shea butter of 8 oz jar is 3.2 oz of shea. Or 226.8 grams by .40% is 90.72grams.
Hi I notice you don't use olive oil in your products. Is there reason gor this?
Olive oil is dense in nature and can clog pores; which can cause acne. I have acne issues so I don't use it.
Hi Beautiful Entrepreneur, The refined version does not have the benefits like the unrefined version, is it still worth it to use the refined one especially when making it for customers
Choose which ever one you feel best suits your desired product 😊
@@bettergrowth_ is the refined one still good for your body butters ?
personal preference comes into play Raw shea butter maintains much more skin care benefits and vitamins. The scent is strong, and the color can vary. Refined shea butter is white and doesn’t have a fragrance, which some do prefer.
Does the unrefined smell bad?
No it have a nutty smoky smell
Maybe mist it. But how much of each ingredient you put in?
Here is each ingredient and the percentages:
Shea Butter 40%
Cocoa Butter 10%
Unfractionated coconut oil 25%
Beeswax 5%
Stearic acid 10%
Arrowroot powder 5%
Vitamin E Oil 1%
Hey, what if I’m not using beeswax or stearic acid or coconut oil? I have 60% butter so far and possibly 30% oil with room for arrowroot, vit e, fragrance and mica (first time)
Is the 60 to 30 a good ratio? I usually have issues with greasiness.
The ratio is fine but stearic acid or something similar will help with the greasiness. How much arrowroot powder do you use?
I’m thinking start at 2 percent and see. I’ve never used it before either
Thank you so much for this info. This was my best batch yet. I’m so excited to keep learning from you.
How much butter did it make i want to follow but i want to know the correct container to try with it
I have the formula in percentages so that you can make any size you would like. Just multiply the percentage of each ingredient by the amount you want to make. Shea Butter at 40% of 4oz jar of body butter is 1.6 oz.
Merhaba lütfen alt yazı seçeneklerine Türkçeyi de ekler misin
Hello I don’t see that as an option in UA-cam studio sorry 😞
