Now you have to watch for the psa cases being tampered with, and the Jordan rookies being switched out, you wouldn't think they'd be able to get the cases open w/o cracking the case. The dots on the arrow is the best way that I've always noticed first hand.
$15,000 for a gem mint 10 in 2015. Who wouldn't have taken a credit card cash advance to grab a 10 back then if they knew what they'd be going for only 6 years later.
I just bought a reprint and I don't care if it's not the first edition. This was printed by fleer so it is still genuine. Also I won't sell it, I'm happy I am able to have this card because I won't ever get the first ones even in my second life. Good video and thanks for helping out people. Some sellers will sell this at a high price.
To be clear, in 1996 Fleer did authorize/make an official reprint of the 1986 Jordan card. It’s called “Decade of Excellence” and it does have the copyright 1996 clearly on the back, at the bottom (you can find many for sale on eBay at a fraction of the cost of the original).
A seller can have their card already graded, they get a poor grade on the card so they take it out of the case, already knowing it's worth. Then they sell it online as an ungraded card for more then it's worth.
It's gotten so bad that even graded PSA cards can be faked simply by having just one original and photo copying the label and professionally inserting the label into another case of lesser value with either a reprint or a slightly poorer graded card. The serial number on PSA site will show it to be authentic but that cannot show if there's more than one of the exact serial number. There are several Mantle examples. Buyers please be aware.
All Grading Services are CRAP. Buy what you want and pay what you think its worth. You cant trust sending your card in and getting same one back yet alone them grading it the same. I know someone who sent same card in twice and got two gr different grading off by 1.5 points. same card!
Glad to know. Thank you. The border is wider and if I walked in to a shop. I would probably fall for it. Thank you so much for showing me. I fail for a Joe Montana rookie reprint. That was a costly mistake on my part. I paid $500 for a $2 card. I didn't take it well and the seller was a card shop. They said they didn't know and all sales or final. I never walked in there agin.
Jason Webb I hate to say it but if u can prove you got that card at that shop and they sold it to you then you could sue them. They can’t prove that they didn’t know it was a fake. I don’t even think that matters. They sold you a fake. They benefitted by ripping u off. They are obligated to at least return ur money. Most any store owner would do that just to save face and business. Nobody wants to be known for selling fakes and ripping ppl off. At least let everyone know on social media who they are and wut they did. Then let the public decide for themselves if they want to support a shop like that. They’re likely ripping off a lot more ppl just like they did with you.
I have a grade 9.5 -1986 FleerJordan Rookie. It wasn’t graded by PSA OR BECKETT tho. It was graded by PRO over 30 years ago and that’s when I purchased it. All signs point to it being AUTHENTIC. It really is impeccable. I am looking to sell it. Any ideas?
I have 3 real ones, Got the set in grade school and would go buy packs with my friends and open them and got 2 more out of the packs. I also have dozens of random 86 fleer cards .
I'm a old school collector have a massive collection. And I agree the first cards were reproduction or fakes. But the last one for 500.00 was legit. I don't grade cards never have. Just not my thing as a collector. If I didn't have a michael jordan rookie card already. That 500 buck card would be one I'd jump on. Why spend 500 to 1000 more. Doesn't make sense to me. Some edge wear is cool to me..and to save 1000s potentially all day. But I would also try and get a better deal from that seller. That's the way I've scored some amazing cards at great deals. Unfortunately your correct the game has changed over the last 10 to 15 years..so many scammers with good printers now days. And I can see why so many new collectors buy graded cards..I do have a few but most of my gems are raw and I enjoy them that way personally. Great post and great things to look for when seeing a real a jordan rc and the reprints or counterfeits. Good hunting
kool, thanks man... i think i have a real ungraded card, but am affraid to have it graded, thinking someone at the company will switch it out for a fake and return it to me as forgery :(
+Jay Macky i don't think you have anything to worry about, if they did that, i don't think anyone would send in their cards... i think you'll be ok. good luck, hope you get a 9+
Good video. I picked up a jordan in a local auction 5 years ago for $5. We all assumed it was a fake. After watching this video not so sure. My card has the dots and the orange arrow. Has the right spacing of letters. Has the pink in the person on the bottom left. I see one line on bottom of ball but not the other lines but that could be printing I don't really see it so well on the graded cards on ebay. My concern has always been that the color on the bottom front is a darker blue not a lighter blue. So, I still don't know for sure.
I own a bunch of fake reprint cards. Jordan, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Tom Brady, you name it I probably have it. But I would never try to rip someone off by selling one to them as the real thing. I use them just as display, conversation piece, and sometimes to fool people I know, which is always fun! I was once offered, by a co-worker, $500 for a Jordan rookie, same one seen here. I showed him the card, he was in awe, being a huge basketball fan. I had it aged a tad, just to look more real. So, I told him (as a joke) that I was going to meet a guy who was buying it for $200. Lol. He freaked and pulled out a few hundred in cash. He said "I've got a few hundred here, I'll run to the ATM and get more! I'll give you $500 cash right now!" I certainly couldn't do that to a co-worker, let alone anyone. So I told him it was a fake. Saying he was bummed out would be a major understatement.
Reminds me of “Highlights” magazine section entitled “Spot-The-Difference”. Good god I loved that feature. Maybe that’s why I like content like this so much on spotting fakes. Thanks for the vid and what other high profile fakes are out there worth mentioning??
Also in the fleer crown sign the dots r like red in the orange and if u look to the left of tthe f in fleer the orange appears and the red dots r there .that mightbe a dead give away of the real
Yo man I've found a card that's been PSA graded, checked the certificate too but it has the Chicago bull logo on the bottom right?? WTF Please advise ASAP
...on ebay, you never know, what you will get... the pictured card can be real... but you do not know what you really will get, unless you receive it... there are a lot of fakes out there... even trustworthy sellers that flip a lot of cards every day can offer fakes... even graded cards can be fakes.... collecting vintage cards can be horribly disapointing....
You should explain how they really get you, legally and you won't even get your money back from eBay. Just last night I was surfing eBay, checking out the Mickey Mantle rookie card (1952, I think it was). And there was a guy on there that had one up for auction. Said "read description" so I did. This is roughly what he had to say: ~ This card is NOT graded, as seen in the pictures. I found this card along with several other baseball cards from that era in my grandfather's basement as I was moving his stuff to storage. I asked my grandmother if it was real or not and she said she didn't know, but it had been in the basement for decades, as far back as she can remember. It looks to be aged correctly, for being a 1950's card. I have showed some friends and a collector and all they could tell me was that it is NOT a reprint. Other than that I have no idea if it's authentic or not. It could be worth tens of thousands or just a few bucks. Your guess is as good as mine. Please don't ask me to get it graded as I am not interested in that. Bet on it at your own risk because there will be no returns, either way. What you buy is yours to keep. ~ Did I mention that the auction bids we're currently up to $1,250? Thoughts: This is a Mickey Mantle rookie card that could be worth tens of thousands of dollars here (if it was real) and this guy is willing to let it go for a fraction of that? And he's not interested in spending $10 to get it appraised or graded? Why is that?? Because it's a FAKE and he knows it!! See, it's obvious, but if they say that they have no idea if it's real or not, and "bid/buy at your own risk" then they can't get into trouble for that. Not with eBay or anyone. And the funny thing is that they probably wouldn't even bother with a dispute since they know exactly what was said about how it could be real or fake. So the seller is selling a $2 card for over a grand. Oh, and by the way, I've seen similar stories all over eBay for reprints. I saw an idiot selling a MJ rookie, like the one seen here, for $60. He claims he found it in a thrift shop and has no idea if it's real or not. So, I checked out his other eBay items he had for sale and guess what? He also had a Larry Bird/Magic Johnson rookie card saying the same exact story! Such a fraud. But they are everywhere on eBay! Buyers beware! Nice video, by the way!
You can still return it on eBay. You can say you didn't get the item pictured. And if the seller can't even verify what he was selling... eBay is just going to tell you to send it back and give you the money back.
Almost every single reprint can be distinguished by the lines on the ball in the back lower right hand corner. Just like he said in the video. Technically that's all you have to look at because virtually zero reprints will ever have that distinctive basketball pattern due to being printed like they are.
Hi I totally appreciate your time in making this video and the knowledge that you shared. The arrow to the right of fleer is an excellent indicator that you taught me. I took your approach and found that a fake rookie card, the R in the trademark circle under magnification is not legible and looks like just a blob of ink versus the real one where the R in the trademark circle is clearly legible as an R.
+Bob Oliver yup, that's something else to check out for. thanks for pointing it out. See the thing is the more we know about these cards, the less these idiots on ebay will put up their trash!
Mine looked all real until you get to his scoring average on the back. Should say 27.2-- mine said 27 2-- it was missing the decimal point between the 7 and 2. Needless to say, I was pretty bumbed out. That's something he didn't go over in this video
I meet a scumbag who does replica PSA grading. He charges $50 a card and it looks amazing. My friend submitted 2 52 mantle replica cards and sure enough this guy was legit. I lost faith in all this PSA shit and now I collect cheap cards for fun. Yeah my cards aren't the sharpest most centered but I'm not buying PSA cards after seeing what this guy did for $100. My friend said he took that cards out of the cases but im sure he sold them off as he ended up buying a Tesla and I dint know how else he came up with 100k when he makes 38k a year.
also the sides are the best way the white base real one the wider white is on the right and on the fake the wider is on the left I noticed in this video.
Dude that's nothing I had to return a jordan rookie card I bought recently, I received card in the mail from the outside it looked real. But! when I took the card out to transfer to a cardsaver, A REDFLAG CAME UP, the card stock feel felt like plastic, smooth and was really shiny in the light on the front of card. and another redflag, the back also felt like plastic not cardboard. Took it to 2 card shops and they confirm its fake. NEVER BUY A JORDAN CARD ONLINE OR OFFER UP UNLESS ITS GRADED TURNS out the Jordan card is laser printed really nicely
you don't need to worry about the card getting stolen when you send it in for grading, of course never graded a jordan rookie myself, but plenty of people get them graded, psa doesn't scam people, they are pretty good. i'd get the jordan rookie graded, it really adds a ton of value to the card, then put it up on ebay and make some profits. or hold onto it, good long term value on the card.
Sweet yea ive held on to it even through addiction im waiting unyil who knows when.but i did get rid of the sticker jordan card the person was supposed to give it back but of course it dissapeared when i went to pay them back.lol live is crazy
that's terrible! i'd say the 86 fleer sticker of jordan is even more rare than the one from the set, really tough to find a jordan sticker in psa 10 form, that's 'cause there is always some gum that sticks to the back of these cards, but yeah, whenever you get the chance, always grade them and make bank, though now i'm thinking 1 bitcoin might be a better investment than a jordan rookie!
Dude, at 6:30 you say, "On the real (Michael Jordan Rookie card), the player is NOT white." BUT go back to 4:13 when you compare the 2 cards about the circle on the lower right and you're zoomed in on the real card, if you look over on the lower left, the player IS white! Don't get me wrong, I hella appreciate your video, big time, I just caught that contradiction and was just wondering what happened. That's all. Thanks for posting!
+sacman68 i was checking out another reprint, turns out the nba logo guy is either white or pink. never seen any other colors on them. yeah so i look at 2 reprints i suppose. just trying to ensure you watch out for many of these reprints. thanks for pointing that out!
I know I have this card in my collection. Back in early 90s I used to buy the packs for 50¢. I bought many and collected most the all star players of the time but I also kept the "junk" cards. I will start taking pics of the cards and maybe posting them on eBay if I decide to sell some. But letting them go will be tough...I've had them since I was a teenager and been taking care of the cards all these years.
I have one I bought in 2002 I would like to send you some pic email if possible? I want to know what you think. I bought it at an Antique auction. Thank You.
not really fakes, more like reprints. the original card number is 57, so naturally all reprints gonna be 57. but sellers pass these off as real, i paid $500 once for a 'real' jordan card, a seller tried to play off as real, luckily got my money back. so just be careful out there!
Those gold ones are so sick looking though. Got them off eBay for deals, and they look awesome. For better or worse, I'm getting married to these Michael Jordan rookie gold and chrome cards. He said there still there original genuine. A small cost for an awesome card worth it, even if it isn't worth thousands.
that comparison is too easy, I've seen more realistic fakes comparable to the real jordan rookie but can still obviously tell apart like the fleer arrow being same color as premier
I got ripped off by some jerk the card looked very real online but when I actually handled it it felt too plasticy and too shiny in the light. the back and front felt the same smooth and glossy which is a huge red flag that its a hi res photocopy.
Now you have to watch for the psa cases being tampered with, and the Jordan rookies being switched out, you wouldn't think they'd be able to get the cases open w/o cracking the case. The dots on the arrow is the best way that I've always noticed first hand.
Oh yeah. There's always a way. And with the popularity boom going on right now, all kinds of greasy stuff is going on.
I still can't tell a damn difference. They should have put REPRINT smh
$15,000 for a gem mint 10 in 2015. Who wouldn't have taken a credit card cash advance to grab a 10 back then if they knew what they'd be going for only 6 years later.
Haha for sure. But I would've just bought a bunch of bitcoins and retire.
how much they go for now? I used to collect in the 90's and remember they were about $200-$300, before PSA
Me
If the "fake" card is printed by Fleer why wouldn't Fleer print reprint on the card to avoid confusion?
Exactly. Or, at least change the date on the bottom of the back to denote what year it was printed. My guess, Fleer isn't producing all the fakes.
I got a real one or i think its real i just never sent it in to get tested
donald keefe sell it to me I’ll find out !
Ocean Hudson lol
check my Video and find out @@donkeefe6222
I just bought a reprint and I don't care if it's not the first edition. This was printed by fleer so it is still genuine. Hi I am from the future and that $1000 psa 8 is now around 11k so congrats!
Thank You very much dude ! I just bought a reprint with shipping in for $9 last night.
A seller can have their card already graded, they get a poor grade on the card so they take it out of the case, already knowing it's worth. Then they sell it online as an ungraded card for more then it's worth.
3:37 Dot matrix printer? More likely a 4 color offset press. Color laser prints look lousy anyway.

i quit this hobby as viewing pics of cards from phone is fine, just carboard and plastic
1D 1R A C U 1L A 209 !! it has been done and no frosting on sides too, google psa baseball card fakes and jordan psa fakes
Serious? Wow I believe that. Mantles? Wow. But I believe that too. Great advice.
@1D 1R A C U 1L A 209 !! I agree!!
Wish I bought one back when I first watched this video.

Unfortunately your Montana is probably a counterfeit fake, not even a reprint.
Love your video! How much are you selling yours for?
I have a grade 9.5 -1986 FleerJordan Rookie. It wasn’t graded by PSA OR BECKETT tho. It was graded by PRO over 30 years ago and that’s when I purchased it. All signs point to it being AUTHENTIC. It really is impeccable. I am looking to sell it. Any ideas?
Regrade it with PSA then sell on ebay?
Do you still have it?
Really appreciate your video and time.
I have 3 real ones, Got the set in grade school and would go buy packs with my friends and open them and got 2 more out of the packs. I also have dozens of random 86 fleer cards .
Can I has one
Thank you sooo much ...I had a reprint in my Ebay Cart..took it out saved the pain..great video
You should be getting that Juan Gonzales graded it is the reverse negative im pretty sure I know there was a reverse negative with that card
I have the reverse negative. These don’t go for much graded unfortunately. One outlier on PSA pop report.
kool, thanks man... i think i have a real ungraded card, but am affraid to have it graded, thinking someone at the company will switch it out for a fake and return it to me as forgery :(
+Jay Macky i don't think you have anything to worry about, if they did that, i don't think anyone would send in their cards... i think you'll be ok. good luck, hope you get a 9+
That's ridiculous...
Take a pic of it and video of what u got when get it back retake a pic and video of it if they do switch it out sue um!$$
Good video. I picked up a jordan in a local auction 5 years ago for $5. We all assumed it was a fake.

Good video. Did you ever make the video about different grading companies, and the differences between BCCG & BGS? I'm interested.
I'll give you $500 cash right now!"
I certainly couldn't do that to a co-worker, let alone anyone. So I told him it was a fake. Saying he was bummed out would be a major understatement.
AlphaDeltaXray you didn’t wanna sell him a fake but he would have given you $500 to rip you off .
Is the back side of the Jordan RC suppose to be pure white? I have seen some that are tan.
Great advice
..good looking out bro.. I'm going to buy one now I know what to look for ty
Do you got one? Let us know
Please make some move of these videos! I'm not a collector, but that was fun to watch!
Reminds me of “Highlights” magazine section entitled “Spot-The-Difference”. Good god I loved that feature. Maybe that’s why I like content like this so much on spotting fakes. Thanks for the vid and what other high profile fakes are out there worth mentioning??
Utube are you a good person by living waters
Also in the fleer crown sign the dots r like red in the orange and if u look to the left of tthe f in fleer the orange appears and the red dots r there .that mightbe a dead give away of the real

Like BGS holders better, try opening it without damaging it, unlike PSA older holders or SGC holders ?
You should explain how they really get you, legally and you won't even get your money back from eBay.
Just last night I was surfing eBay, checking out the Mickey Mantle rookie card (1952, I think it was). And there was a guy on there that had one up for auction.
Said "read description" so I did. This is roughly what he had to say:
~ This card is NOT graded, as seen in the pictures. I found this card along with several other baseball cards from that era in my grandfather's basement as I was moving his stuff to storage.

Did I mention that the auction bids we're currently up to $1,250?
When u got to the back of the JORDAN CARDS u can c the DIFFERENCES cool vid!!!
To be honest I like the reprint
Yeah, I have some MJ reprints. The photography is a little blurry, not as sharp as original. Only get graded by PSA if you want an original.
Almost every single reprint can be distinguished by the lines on the ball in the back lower right hand corner. Just like he said in the video. Technically that's all you have to look at because virtually zero reprints will ever have that distinctive basketball pattern due to being printed like they are.
You mean counterfeits, not reprints.
What grades are your cards and what does the grades mean?
Hi
I totally appreciate your time in making this video and the knowledge that you shared.
My question is, why are they all 57 out of 132 fake or not? Isn't that the 57th one made from 132 or am I wrong?
You can tell by the two really easily by the original card picture has more length than the reprint
Just wondering about the decimal on the 27.2 in the right corner if it’s missing is it a fake
9:56 look at the ball, WE CANT YOUR COVERING IT UP LOL
Your Juan Gonzalez is the error card reverse negative
6:30 Lol, that makes sense.
Mine looked all real until you get to his scoring average on the back. Should say 27.2-- mine said 27 2-- it was missing the decimal point between the 7 and 2. Needless to say, I was pretty bumbed out. That's something he didn't go over in this video
I had the exact same one. Everything else looked good but it was missing the decimal point.
Can you please explain me what is the mint 10,9,8,7,etc, i dont understand that
I don't know why Fleer did that...makes me glad I got out of collecting now (15 yrs ago lol) and they aren't getting anymore of my money
Yeh especially with the $500 wax boxes today and the ridiculous "rippers"
I meet a scumbag who does replica PSA grading. He charges $50 a card and it looks amazing. My friend submitted 2 52 mantle replica cards and sure enough this guy was legit. I lost faith in all this PSA shit and now I collect cheap cards for fun. Yeah my cards aren't the sharpest most centered but I'm not buying PSA cards after seeing what this guy did for $100. also the sides are the best way the white base real one the wider white is on the right and on the fake the wider is on the left I noticed in this video.
Looking for the bcs vs bccs? Grading differences video
I have the real copy but it's in a old regular case i wonder how much it's worth ?
Nba ball lines on back #1 way to tell
They could have made it a lot easier by putting a later date on the reprint not 1986.
And on the original the angle isnt perpendicualar its slightly elevated
Dude that's nothing I had to return a jordan rookie card I bought recently, I received card in the mail from the outside it looked real. But! when I took the card out to transfer to a cardsaver, A REDFLAG CAME UP, the card stock feel felt like plastic, smooth and was really shiny in the light on the front of card. and another redflag, the back also felt like plastic not cardboard.
Took it to 2 card shops and they confirm its fake.
NEVER BUY A JORDAN CARD ONLINE OR OFFER UP UNLESS ITS GRADED
TURNS out the Jordan card is laser printed really nicely
I have a picture of my fleer jordan but its so bright i cant tell if the arrow is yellow or orange
How to spot a Jordan rookie from a reprint
Hey man is there anyway I can send you pics of my card to see if it’s fake or not ?
Thanks for the input
Go to the back of the card if you can see the white spots in the middle of the Bulls eyeballs it's legit
Isnt the white side big on the fake card
You take major chance buying on eBay. If I can’t get my cards str8t outta pack then I’m good.
I NEW3RA I or buy them bgs or psa graded
Eduardo Garcia that’s gonna be very expensive.
I don't remember Fleer reprinted the 1986 set without the "reprinted" stamp. This is simply just a fake.
Correct, he is using the terms interchangeably which is not accurate at all.
Hope you held onto this
Look at the sides colours, the fake has wider colours patterns compared to the real one
Hello, are you interested in selling your Jordan PSA 8?
Theyve made perfect copies now. Too bad
Thank you
I got two real rookies on Michael Jordan and one fake one a Michael Jordan's rookie
What about the white bars
I got a real onebutnever got thetest im afraid to let it even get graded i feel like they will scamme or loss it
you don't need to worry about the card getting stolen when you send it in for grading, of course never graded a jordan rookie myself, but plenty of people get them graded, psa doesn't scam people, they are pretty good. i'd get the jordan rookie graded, it really adds a ton of value to the card, then put it up on ebay and make some profits. or hold onto it, good long term value on the card.
Sweet yea it was a mistake. O well buti still got that card.i just got toget it graded.but its great to have either way
Man really sucks bc I have a 100% legit mj rookie card but it’s got a small crease so it absolutely kills the value
hey mate, I'm looking to buy one of these cards.. wondering if you could help me verify the card? Cheers
Ashley Thomas dude just watch his video on it. Done. Lol
Ashley Thomas what u need help with
The real money is in the 84 star Jordan cards
Yessir. I have the 101...
+sacman68 At 4:13 that logo is pink not white. Just saying
Sweet fuck off
A a printer.. Offset and digital press..i can see em a mile away.
do you have instagramm?
the shite of the eye is the schlera...good vid!
If I send u a pic of a card I inherited from my uncle can u tell me if it's real?
I know I have this card in my collection. Back in early 90s I used to buy the packs for 50¢. I bought many and collected most the all star players of the time but I also kept the "junk" cards. I will start taking pics of the cards and maybe posting them on eBay if I decide to sell some. But letting them go will be tough...I've had them since I was a teenager and been taking care of the cards all these years.
STAR CO 5X7 #26 IS JORDAN REAL ROOKIE CARD.
I have one I bought in 2002 I would like to send you some pic email if possible? I want to know what you think. I bought it at an Antique auction. Thank You.
this is why painting are rare and $$$$$$$$$
It will specify reprint on it , damm
Not now that psa8 is worth 15k easy.
Wow, back when a psa 8 jordan was only 1,000.
Can you help me find a real one don’t want to get screwed
Cubano Porvida I can get u or point u in the right direction pgi graded and everything for a small fee
So you say “There’s really no way to tell the difference”. 10 seconds later, “Let’s talk about how to tell the difference”. ??????

How come all the fakes are numbered 57? Don't YOU have the officials #57 card
not really fakes, more like reprints. the original card number is 57, so naturally all reprints gonna be 57. but sellers pass these off as real, i paid $500 once for a 'real' jordan card, a seller tried to play off as real, luckily got my money back. so just be careful out there!
Color is different on the backs!!
Those reprints from eBay are NOT from fleer. They are made on high quality printers, or in some cases, shitty quality printers.
I hate reprints. Why oh why would anyone print something exact. They should have a small difference
EASIEST WAY.... USE A BLACK LIGHT
That it might be worth 15k right now lol
U must have made this video before the chest cold..
Please do a introductory "why the fuck should I care" video first
that comparison is too easy, I've seen more realistic fakes comparable to the real jordan rookie but can still obviously tell apart like the fleer arrow being same color as premier
I got ripped off by some jerk the card looked very real online but when I actually handled it it felt too plasticy and too shiny in the light. the back and front felt the same smooth and glossy which is a huge red flag that its a hi res photocopy.
Thanks bro appreciate it!
Unfortunately the only real way you can tell if it’s a reprint or original is to send it in to a grading company.
