    Sorry for the bad audio on this one. I didn't know the microphone was unplugged. More things to fix, ha ha. At the end of the day Is rather have a working shifter and pedals than a working microphone.😀

    Awesome video! I was driving my 82 to work today and the shifting kept getting worse till I could not use 1 or 2nd. Got to work, searched UA-cam and found your video! Found out shift rod coupler bushings were gone! Used a piece of hose and put it over the rods on the bushing to help get me home. Hopefully it will work in a few hours when I get off work. Ordering a new bushing now. Thanks!

      Wow, that's a great roadside fix. If you do need to adjust the coupler be warned that it's very sensitive to rotational adjustments. One pencil width of adjustment makes a big difference.

      @@GarageTimeAutoResto I drove it all day after the quick fix! Shifted better than it had ever been for me. The bushing was probably going out when I got it years ago. But I didn't know. Hopefully the new part will be in today and I can do your adjustment trick. :) Cheers.

    I followed your instructions and I was able to dial in my shifter perfectly! Thanks for the explanation!

      I have another question, not to take away from this video, but did you happen to do a video of how you painted the interior floors of the car you were doing the shift coupler adjustment on?

    Thanks! Super helpful, especially with all of the views of the motions on each end of the shift coupling linkage. Perfect for helping me out.

    Nice detail. Interesting see how the shift linkage operates. You’re in that tough time of assembly where the desire to experience driving runs into a need to make sure all the “T’s” are crossed. Looking forward to hearing it run! 👍👍

      Thanks. I will probably install the axles last otherwise I will be out driving it around like a go cart

    Looks like it shifts good to me. It might shift even better once the engine is running.

      I hope that it shift better with the engine running. Just need to connect a few oil lines and we will find out!

    Getting closer! Isn’t there a boot that goes over the coupling? Would have been a good idea to to added that on before adjusting the coupling.

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  3 роки тому

      Yes, there's supposed to be another boot, but I'm leaving it out. Not sure what it does if its inside and under a cover too?

      @@GarageTimeAutoResto probably just another layer to help keep fuel smell(and other smalls) out of the inside of the car.

    Great video! What sort of jack(able) stand are you using to hold up the car? Is that something custom fab'd or available for sale somewhere?

      Thanks, I call them tire stands and they are made by me. They are very useful to get the car high enough to work under
      Here's the video where I made them.

    Hello. Good videos. Going back in time to this video as I'm doing the same on my 911. Now that you drove the car, did you have to touch to your adjustment again ? Or did it work just fine ? Thanks.

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto
      @GarageTimeAutoResto  3 роки тому

      Thanks, occasionally my car pops out of third, so I did adjust the linkage a bit and it still pops out. Mostly when cold. I may fiddle with it, but the problem is likely inside the transaxle.
      The pedal positions are mostly good, but I want to shorten the brake pedal push rods just a little bit more.

    Just curious: how will you set the clutch stop. Following your excellent journey closely.

    • @GarageTimeAutoResto

      Hi Bill. Someone else already tapped a hole in the back of the clutch arm. I can thread a rubber stop in there of various heights.

    How hard is that clutch to push?
