Open Season is literally one of the more obscure part of Gen Z childhood nostalgia. We indeed saw this as kids, but however it has been lost to time that some of us didn't know this existed, but it does. Looking back at Open Season, it indeed has dated humor and plot tropes at times but it is still a good movie that still has it moments. The one thing I remembered from this movie though is the woohoo bars and the part where the animals fight the hunters in an all out battle.
I know everyone memes about villains being in the right, but this dude honestly had a normal reaction to seeing walking, talking animals and the world thinking he was insane.
The way Shaw rolls up his window in a panic as the river comes barreling down towards him is one of the funniest moments from this movie. I dunno what's funnier though, the fact that it's his first thought to try in order to save himself or the fact that it actually worked 😂
And somehow, Shaw had enough air inside the truck’s cab to breathe under 10 feet of water, without leaks. Either that truck’s cab, doors and window glass are bulletproof and watertight by design, or the truck is 007-level modified to be a boat/sub by Shaw and we just don’t it. The GMC threw TWO rooster tails when Shaw floored it on the river. For an old clunker, that trucks got a lot of horses under it’s hood.

honestly shaw is alpha asf, he leans out of his stick shift truck in the middle of some rapids to shoot at a floating deer with a scoped rifle, also, goes down into a cellar to fight a literal BEAR in close quarters, hand to hand combat with nothing more than a trusty hunting knife and lighter
The chances of Russia or China or both combined launching a full scale invasion of America is extremely slim but never zero. Stay strapped or get clapped.
The difference between good and evil is blurry at best. We're all "the good guy" from our own perspective, but its usually our means and the foundation of our principles that truly define us Shaw is the villain of the movie because of his cruelty and obsession with superiority. When your reaction to discovering sentient life is to try and wipe it out or re-subjugate it, you aren't any better than than the Europeans that discovered America and destroyed its indigenous people
What's enthralling about this whole video is how the original story of Open Season is completely flipped upside-down. With Shaw as the protagonist, we witness how a fully sane outdoorsman slowly loses his sanity as he observes multiple creatures engaging in non-animal behavior, which contradicts everything that humanity once knew about nature. As this version of the movie progresses, the animals turn against this poor man one by one until he ultimately suffers the terrible fate of becoming prey to his own kind. We can all rest easier knowing Shaw is out there safeguarding the natural order
I like how in Open Season 2 & 3 the park ranger that took care of him is just never seen or mentioned again
In Open Season: Scared Silly (which is more of a direct sequel to this movie), he attempts to open hunting season again, and he gets arrested.
Shaw is such a Chad he apparently put a scope on a pump action shotgun.
Probably shoots slugs
pump-action rifles exist
Well, Shotgun rifles can actually be possible. You just get slug rounds, install the longest Barrel possible for it, and a Scope. Sure, they may not have a longest Range compared to a regular Sniper Rifle, but they have great enough range.
buckshot has good range in real life it's nothing line video games.
@@taddict37 yeah, but scopes are for precision, and a shotgun is nit very precise, thats the deal with shotguns, unless slugs are used of course
“It walks… like a MAN!” Gets me every time
Maybe because it's a skinwalker, our man Shaw can point out and identify any creature he sees and tell if it's a sapient freak of nature, or the townsfolk are just too blind. 😂
Lol
Me when the dog starts walking bipedally
As someone who grew up in hickville USA Shaw is the most normal and relatable character in this movie lol
In Shaw’s defense there was some major weird stuff happening in his community that would cause even the most sane of people to start having conspiracies
the sequels should've focused on the hunters coming back next year just as crazy as shaw and trying to hunt down boog along with shaw himself, and not the dog going to some water park and being hunted down by some crazed poodle or boog getting mixed up with some other circus bear (???)
@@bloopahVIIIagreed, Open Season 2 and 3 were utter shit
Everyone talks about Shaw's perspective but forgets to mention how he literally had the first truck that could fully float and be controlled in water🤣

I prefer Open Season over most movies nowadays

@@djpackard5120Simply by being able to wade in the water like it did, that machine has a Destroyer engine under the hood, and probably manufactured by a submarine factory or something

@@yes3802I didn’t say greatest 😂 he’s my favorite movie antagonist for a couple different reasons
I just realized! Lorraine is a pump action. 30-06 rifle, modeled on the Remington 760 Gamemaster, not only a common hunting rifle in the 50s and 60s (presumably when this movie is set, based on the car designs) but it's also a reference to Martin Luther King's assassination, as he was shot by a pump action, .30-06 Remington 760 Gamemaster, at the Lorraine Motel!

From a paranoid hunter to a multiverse threat
Me as a kid: Shaw is evil
Me as a 26 year old man: Shaw makes a good point.
A truly horrific children's tale 🤌
