- what's up regulars, today we will be replacing the valve cover gasket on a 2009 VR6 base model cayenne. this job was pretty fun although alittle challenging.
tools used were a 10MM XZN triple square
T-20 torx
T-25 torx
T-30 torx
plastic pry tools
flat head screwdriver
3/8th ratchet with various extensions
bit driver
pliers
W, thank you so much for this video. I need to replace the valve cover due to vacuum leak and this video is God's send 🤞
GREAT VIDEO. THIS IS WHY I ADVISE ALL MY CLIENTS TO STAY AWAY FROM GERMAN CARS . THEY ARE THE WORST DESIGN. NOTICE THE TIMING CHAIN IS IN THE REAR. THAT IS A 15 HOURS JOB.
Parabéns pelo video tirou minha dúvida .
Obrigado
Great video!! Thanks for it!
Thx for the Vid I need to replace the PCV valve under the valve cover cause I m having high idle issues and it cause of that Valve being torn been hesitating to do but I’m not getting good Gas Mileage
This job reminds me working on 2004 VW Touareg 4.2L V8 engine - Build like a tank! Reliable, but over-engineered.
Hi, just saw your video on how to replace the manifold gasket cover, one of the best I had seen by far. Question, do you have any video on how to replace a thermostat housing of a Porsche cayenne s 2006 3.2lt. thanks a lot.
By the way, I just subcribe to your Chanel.
bro did you ever find one of these? mine is leaking and I am about to crack into it this weekend. Porsche dealership wants to drop the transmission. F that. 6,000 bucks.
You just earned a new subscriber today!!! I also seen you video on the 995-997 valve cover replacement. I own both a 955 Turbo that I used your video for reference doing and in the next week or so I have to do this same job on my 958 vr6. I really hope you or someone can give me some advice on this, but in your repair did you replace the valve cover bolts? FCP Euro is selling a gasket kit with the bolts for almost $300. I think it's insane!!! I seen URO parts has bolts that look identical, but they don't list the Cayenne v6 of any year on their list of approved fittements. I am getting ready to order the final list of parts this week and I would greatly appreciate the advice thanks.
Thank you
U r the best
Im surprised to see the configuration is so different compared to the same generation Touareg. The intake manifold is completely different, as well as the airbox and throttle body locations.
Good shit
Awesome video. Watching helps a lot, had to remove intake manifold, and valve cover.
Having clearance issues putting the intake manifold back. Even remove the sensor on the lower fuel rail. Still does not have enough clearance.
Any tips please advise?
I wanted one of these. Then I saw this video and well not anymore.
Don’t let it fool you they actually are pretty reliable and pleasant to work on. VR6 valve cover gaskets aren’t all that known to go bad
interesting to see. should it possible for me to replace too. but my question is how you know you have to replace valve cover gasket ?
This car had a slight oil burning smell ended up being the gasket leaking near the exhaust
@@regularmechanic4196 thank you very much
How you get the fuel line out on the back side of the manifold?
I need your help I have the same issue with mines . Do you have a way I can speak to you I really need advice on something please
Very nice 👌. How much total cost for that job?
Hi, can the 2 camshaft actuators (VVT solenoids) be accessed without removing the valve cover?
@@renesis82 I’m not sure
Great video by far. About how long did it take you from earth to finish?
About 4 hours
did you say 7 foot pound torque?
Thanks for the video man. When you took the intake manifold off, did you hear a rattling noise inside of it? Mine has a rattling noise and im not sure if that's normal or not. I cant find info on it online either
The noise may be the bolts that are captive in the intake moving around
😂aye man it’s a lot you guys don’t say fam I don’t like that I found out the hard way doe cheeky bastards the rail come up with the intake it’s 3 bolts in the rail plus the 14 for the feed line
What did you torque the 3 triple square M10 holding the fuel rail back on to.
I’d have to double check on the manual but I think they were only like 10 or 15FT LBS
is the v8 easier than the v6? my gts has the timing chain upfront, reason I ask
the V8 was easier for me, only because the fuel rail on the I6 was a pain. I made a V8 video too even though the editing wasn’t that good
Can this be done to do the thermostate instead of removing the tranny?
Just replaced my thermostat and coolant pipe with out having to do either (I did take off the intake manifold prior to replacing those and I will be replacing the valve cover gasket next. Honestly imo its probably easier to replace the therm after taking the valve cover off tho)
@@MCParris my valve cover is leaking anyway lol. Thank you so much, you are the first person I've heard did it without removing the trans
Everything was great till u got to the part of you reinstalling the intake manifold than you skipped through it i would of really appreciated if you didn’t skip through that oart
Thanks for the input. It’s the reverse of the disassembly though so I left it out
I have 2008 cayenne vr6 engine. Vehicle drives great. but constantly revs and makes noise when idling..does anybody know what could possibly be wrong??
Yes I know exactly what's wrong it's your PCV valve... Copy this and pate it in UA-cam Porsche Cayenne V6 958 92A PCV Valve Replacement How To
Question was this a fellow Soldiers truck?
Yes it was, it’s actually for sale right now
what was that blue "rib" stuff in the back at 9:36?
That was some RTV I put on the gap of the timing cover to the block
@@regularmechanic4196 ohh ok what RTVspecifically if you don't mind asking would any kind work? and do you always have to do this when replacing the valve cover gasket? Also most importantly why did you even change the valve cover gasket in the first place ? Oil leaks? Im just trying to learn as much as I can as I just bought my second cayenne now
@@Jdsofar you need to use a high temp, oil proof RTV, without it it can leak in that area. The valve cover was leaking A-little bit on this car though its not a super common fix for these cars, it is on V8s though
@@regularmechanic4196 ok I have a V6. things already cost a ton did not want to get an s or turbo lol. ill take a look around at mine tomorrow with a light and see if there is any evidence of leaks. highly doubt it tho as it was just checked when I got it safetied. cars 13 years old now so I'm trying to address everything I can within reason. I really care about preventative maintenance
where is your auto shop?
I work in my home garage on friends cars and personal vehicles
my bad, you are quite knowledgeable… i wish you are in bay area california
@@luckyfarru thank you. I’m actually in southern CA
@@regularmechanic4196 i see, i will be in socal this sun and mon, would love to catch-up on coffee with you
@@luckyfarru lmk if you’re ever down again that would be fun
what no fender covers?
As long as the cars clean and you have soft clothing no need for them they get in the way
Is that vr6.?
Yes it is
where can I get the tool you used to the T sockets? whats it called?
The long one to get to the intake bolts?
Yes
Looks difficult
What size is the torx bit you used for the three internal intake bolts?
T-30
Its t25
@@victorr2710 you are right I re checked T-25
My 2010 was a t30
Need more light 😂
Gutes Video...danke
This is different from the 3.2 from my 2005 cayenne. If you have the chance could you do a vid on that?
I'll be doing a series on the 2005 cayenne soon.
