I literally died when you mentioned when horses, not all of them, can open stalls. Horses are like, "Woah... I opened up my stall door. Excellent." But I would say foals aren't the only ones being imprinted. Check out Lucky Ranch Imprinting and you'll see what I mean. I swear, they're not the ones being imprinted. And I hope this one doesn't come off as rude, but theirs no 'right' way to train a horse.

You're Gucci! And I also just wanna clarify if I read this correctly:
I only used foal examples just cuz they were on top of my head and usually when we talk about "imprinting" (habituation) most people talk in the context of foals.
I also checked out Lucky Three and I don't know if they know that what they are doing is actually habituation but use the term "imprinting" just cuz we're already sold on that word but yes habituation can happen at any stage.
And I agree that there's no "right way to train" however this term gets thrown around and it gets into the muddy territory of "training an animal" and "manipulating an animal". This is all information on how the brain works and I try my best to ensure to ya'll that I'm not forcing R+ but since that's what I do and I have full explanations to the brain's activity when utilizing it, I use it to explain concepts in hopes it makes it easier. (It's also in the behavioral medicine books 😉 I'm fr not just talking to talk). The "right way to train" in this context is just helping others utilize how the brain works for horses and then build your training regimen with that in mind rather than use blanket statements or impose human ideas on them.
