I think your Denmark series was one of your finest pieces of work Mads as it demonstrated that beauty is all around us. The trick as you say is to get out there and find it for ourselves.

Love how you work your local landscape Mads to produce really beautiful photography. I'm only 3 years at this photography game, and as much as I still enjoy epic photos from epic locations, I now find photos such as yours from Denmark to be much more interesting and, ultimately, more impressive. Thanks for the inspiration!

During lock-downs we were free to go outside as long as we wouldn´t meet other people. So I started to go on photography strolls in my direct neighbourhood, which is the inbetween of three cities, kinda rural, a little bit of woods, a river and a lot of quirky places and little gardens.
All the photos i shot were in walking distance and I returned to the same places in different seasons, or parts of the day, with different lights and weather. It isn´t spectecular at all and I don´t know what to do with this now more than 3 years worth of photos (I don´t even have social media), but I improved so much in working with the light, trying out new perspectives and compositions and always find new little scenes to photograph.
I just grab my camera with one lens (x pro 2 with 23mm) and walk out the door. That´s it. Even if I don´t take a picture it´s a little work-out. And some of these are the best landscape photographs I ever did, even if it´s just a shed with a hedge.

So many good points in this video Mads, I'll have to watch again. But my main takeaway is not just to keep getting out there, but making the most of what you have. Sometimes we also have to check our expectations - not every shoot will be 'epic'!

Super helpful and motivating Video. Several photography friends and myself have been researching local areas and are planning as many outings as we can realistically manage. Because of the location and the everchanging environment we live in, we frequently get sidetracked to another area and do not make it to our planned destination lol Thanks for the info, tips and inspiration you consistently provide.

    I totally agree !
1st year of photography as hobbyist, I wasn't so sure about the gear argument (it's not the gear but you).
After 1.5years I thought : it's about being in the right place at the right moment
Now after 2 years of practice, I totally agree that it mostly depends on planning and what type of shot I want to do, not the gear

Great topic! Time constraints may prevent me from driving to the sea coast or other locations. I'll take walks on a nature trail or walk through the city seeking interesting compositions. I spend a lot of time looking for interesting minimalist scenes. The quest helps teaching how to find images with a story.

I'm lucky that I live near mountains so epic views are more about not being lazy. But the point of thinking local is overlooked because it is too familiar and we naturally discount the local possibilities. Also, working locally means you can revisit the sites regularly and often.
