- This is episode 1 of a series called 'Hysterical Records' aka 'अति-हास्य' which aims to dig deep into Indian history, especially the hysterical claims made in the name of religious nationalism by BJP/RSS/VHP.
Episode 1 debunks the claims of BJP/RSS about India's history being based on Sanatan Dharm / Vedic religion for the last 5000-10000 years. I spoke to Dr. Ruchika Sharma, PhD & History professor @eyeshadowetihaaswithruchika in this episode to fact check false claims in the popular Indian narrative.

One thing we need to acknowledge is that almost all the scholars or historians have their personal biases - Abhijit Chavda and Dr. Ruchika Sharma must have their own. When these studies are being published, do you really think that these are raw observations? I disagree.
The thing I appreciate here is narrator's acceptance that we are living in an era of post-truth modernism where every understanding is a misunderstanding. And this is not only happening since 2014. It has been happening since long (which also include period of INC government). So whom to believe - it may be possible that Ruchika ji has bias against Hindutva and Abhijit has bias for Hindutva.
In the era of infowar, let's question everything. Think rationally and indulge ourselves in relevant deliberations. Don't blindly follow anyone - whether it is your government or it is some random historian giving lectures on some random YT channel.
And for the stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata - why is one section dying to prove that these are actual events in history and the other section is eager to prove that these are mythology? I believe that the intention of these (factual or mythological) stories are to determine the social ethics and give us all life-lesson on how to conduct ourselves. Let's get over the obsession to prove these epics right or wrong and focus more on the lessons and learnings.

Today's hinduism, which is derived from puranas, mahabharata and ramayana etc . is post Buddhist. Ramayana story is inspired by Buddhist jataka kathas . Mahabharata is inspired by Buddhist kathas and torah and Talmud from jews. The name krishna is actually name given for a daitya who was killed by Indra .

Another major proof of the Vedic or Hindu religion NOT being thousands of years old is the fact that we cannot find classical Sanskrit in India before the 5th - 6th century AD. Before that, Pali and Prakrit were written in the Dhamma script. Interestingly, none of the so-called Hindu scriptures are found in Pali.
Moreover, when the British excavated the Ashoka Pillar with Pali engravings, Indian Pandits called it "Bheem's Gada" because they couldn't decipher it.
The only thing that is thousands of years old in India is the false ego and baseless confidence.
Vedic sanskrit was standardized by panini that we now call classical sanskrit, vedic sanskrit is far more older than classical sanskrit.

The oldest hymns of the Rigveda date back to around 3800-3400 BCE based on glottochronology and archaeological evidence. The oldest non controversial evidence comes from mittani people who migrated from india itself.

This conclusion is based on the third phase of excavations, which found evidence of the culture dating back that far. So, his first point was wrong, and I just wanted to mention that. Whether the seal has Shiva on it or not, no one will know for sure, and Dr. Sharma is correct in stating that the government and ruling party often use misinformation for their agenda. However, as a historian, Dr. Sharma should be aware that the yogic position present in the seal is not a basic yoga position but an advanced one. Any civilization would need at least hundreds of years to discover and practice an advanced yogic position. Dr. Sharma has a Ph.D. in history, but how could she miss a point like that? Evidence of horses has been found in Surkotada (which is an IVC site). And everyone know how story change with time by adding fantacy elements.

Being a civil service aspirant, I always look for objective videos that are based on facts. While this one is very much aligned with it, there are elements of pick and choose on certain facts. I understand that the sole purpose of this channel is to expose BJP but it kinda takes away from the objectiveness of the video. Just like Ranveer's videos, this was too very definitive due to the political involvement. Same thing happens when I look at right wing channels as well. A Pure Arya Signature Identity- The Swastika seal that was found in Harappa, Mohenjodaro and even in much older Mehergadh settlements. This is a clear indication that puts a stamp over it being an Aryan civilization. He will never speak why Swastika is present there that is well-being religious sign for over a billion Sanatanis living in India.
3. A jar-like vessel is even present on the Harappan seals, where a horse-like animal is standing near that vessel containing a Soma drink. One-horned animals don't exist in reality; the only possibility that makes sense is that they used to decorate a horse by placing a horn over its head when Soma was offered. The idea that the Indus Society was a horseless society is baseless and is often pushed around to discredit the Aryan link. Bones recovered from sites like Surakotda in the Indus area have been confirmed by Professor Bokyoni to be horse bones. 4. And Why make theories just by looking at the seals? Inside some of those altars, traces of half-burnt animal bones were found, indicating that there were some people used to perform animal sacrifices in Vedic-styled sacrificial brick structures. In reality Vedic Hymns never sponsor Animal sacrifice In Yagyas, even Gautam Buddha rejected Animal Sacrifice in oldest Vedic texts and quoted at various occasions in Pali Texts that it came later. but history is not always complete Black or White. Post Vedic Kalpa Sutra Books written by various authors indeed sponsor animal sacrifice in Yagyas. The fact that this distorted Vedic practice became prevalent in Post Vedic period. This same reflected in these post-Vedic Saraswati River bed sites where Animal Bones found in some of those Fire Altars. Yagyas cannot be performed without Vedic Yajurvedic Hymns, and the language of Richas is Sanskrit. So Sanskrit and Vedas must be dated much before than these Fire Altars. So why complicate things by relying on limited resources when we have already found these significant clues about the way these people lived. But this poor guy and this lady with fabricated knowledge won't bring these findings on the surface for discussions
