    Handicapping is based on fundamental factors; class speed condition for the horse and top pace close for the trip. Betting is based on probability, odds, risk, value. i also have a very good eye. my win % on looks only is 50%, my average odds on a key is 6.5/1. Betting strategies vary, but my top play for individual races is a full wheel for second; with extras on best place horses, and a power exacta to one horse; then i place parlay my key. Three horse place parlays are quite easy on an average day, odds from 3/1 to 10/1 is where i focus. Of course i bet my family names for fun and my lucky number box 1/8. P.S. I have seen every great champion live since 1957[minus a few].

    Thanks for clearing up what the post position fraction stands for; numerator=what pp the horse broke from; denominator=number of horses in the field.

    Here's all you have to do to make money betting on thoroughbred horses: (1) Overcome approximately 20 to 25% tax imposed by the parimutuel system (2) Outperform other bettors who know more about the condition of the horses than you do (3) Identify substantially incorrect betting odds consistently.
    Good luck, you'll need it!

      Or go heavy when the odds are incorrect I guess - probably not important to do it consistently. Infrequent conviction bets may work better.

    The first horses mentioned in this video would go off at 8-5 and 1-9 so why bother betting? That should have been the message of this video! He makes it seem like he found some hidden inside info right in the daily program! If he's noticed the obvious info so has the betting public and therefore there is no value in his bet.

    i did not say i make a living at the track but i can honestly say that i am a winning horseplayer over a long period of time and i know other players who are also winners, of course it is very hard to win, and of course most players are losers, most card players are losers most sports bettors are also losers, but a very few can win

    Just find the horse with the highest average earnings never fails

    • @mrjuvy49
      @mrjuvy49 Рік тому

      Then take the highest speed ratings (Beyer) ( last 3), and the trainer and jockey% This gives you a more rounded outlook for the horse, the higher the total number the better.

    i dont put much value into class. pace and times are way more important than class.
    in a simple race. look for who the front-runner is...it will likely set the pace. can it go wire to wire? look at fraction times. compare fraction times and pace of closers...this will tell if they can close on the front-runner.
    some other simple things to point out:
    - you do not want a closer in the 1 pp or far inside pp, especially in a large field. because they will have to go around all of the horses. unless they get lucky and find a hole to go through. but most of the time, they are forced to go around.
    - its better for front-runner to have the 1 pp or a far inside pp. this helps them to take possession of the rail and have the best position.
    so much more that goes into handicapping. could be here writing for a long time : )

      ***** i like to play at the bigger tracks, for example right now, santa anita, belmont and keeneland. those tracks have bigger purses and less claiming races. a lot of shady stuff (fixed races, etc.) can happen in claiming races, especially cheap claimers, which tracks like penn, charlestown and philly park have. i highly advise not playing those tracks.
      you said that nobody mentioned speed. thats what pace and fractions are, lol. early speed, late speed, etc.
      i never said all front-runners run wire-to-wire. i only said that you want to look for which horse the front-runner is so that you can determine what the pace should be. and some front-runners can go wire-to-wire at a mile 1/8 and a mile 1/4, which are both longer than a mile 70. look at bayern when he raced at prax recently, he set the track record, wire-to-wire, mile 1/8.
      we could talk forever about handicapping, lol. and theres no 1 correct strategy/formula. the bottom line is that your handicapping consistently puts $ in your pocket : )

      ***** those are three best trax. Philly penn and ct. Big trax you have to choose between which million dollar horse to bet on to win what? 8/5 odds, fock that. Id rather cash 20 -1 at charles town on the regular. These methods stink btw. Theres only one thing that matters if you want to win all the time and you seem to be unaware of it. How much did you profit last week?

    • @badabing2613
      @badabing2613 10 років тому

      who would bet 8/5?, lol. unfortunately some people do. you want to make sure to get at least 5-1 or better. every once in a great while, 3-1 and 5/2 are acceptable. betting pick 3's, 4's and 5's are another way to make a good ROI. there are also other ways to make $. but what i mentioned are the main ways to make $.

    • @vamborulz232
      @vamborulz232 9 років тому

      +Badda Bing I seldom bet an 8/5 unless it is a single in a pk 3 or 4 where there is a wide open race and want to use 6 or 7 horses

  • @beebop333

    @LVCrocky you are so wrong about that, i have personally won over $ 100, 000 dollars playing the horses over a 30 year period,And i can attest to several other horseplayers that i know who are also long term winners. it is true the takeout is high and without hard work and dedication you can not win but for you to say that it is a dream to win at handicapping horses is totaly wrong!
