Not sure why you're comparing averages here? The 1 percent lows on R6S improved by +50fps while the average had seen a +30fps boost. 1% lows are more imortant in competitive/high fps games.

Great video! The option to use faster ram is really interesting in a use with the regular 7000, especially the dual CCD chips - 7900X/7950X, the duel CCD can work with the higher bandwidth, so I think the non X3D's can uplift very nice in performance with the higher speeds

Makes sense, the main bottleneck modern CPUs have is generally memory bandwidth.
Especially so on the x3d chips where there is an element of on-die latency you can't really overcome with lowered DIMM latency as you can only push the IF so much.

  • @kosmosyche

This is percentage differences between 6400 and 7800Mhz RAM in this video's tests:
    R6S: +4%
    CS2: +2.7%
    COD Warzone2: +2.4%
In other words, let's say you are getting 100 fps in all of this games with 6400Mhz RAM. With 7800Mhz RAM you'll be getting 104fps in R6S, 103fps in CS2 and 102.5 fps in Warzone 2.
And of course this is the absolute best case scenario bc of low resolution / low settings and very GPU-light games. In most other cases the difference is going to be even lower to non-existent.

    • @silfrido1768

@@Branden2DX lower mhz can guarantee you speed & stability. it really relies on your motherboard / cpu for you to figure out if 7200mhz works.
for me it’s 100% stable & I never have issues.
But do keep in mind anything past 6400mhz will leave your system 1:2 & not 1:1.
So it’s up to you, you can always try it. If you don’t like it return it.

If you bought a 6000MHz CL30 RAM kit, it's almost definitely Hynix die, which means you can easily overclock it.
If you have an ASUS board with a recent BIOS, there are RAM OC profiles you can select for your particular RAM kit under DRAM settings.
If you don't have an ASUS board, you have to overclock manually.

The 48GB kits are great, but harder to tune or push frequency on due to added heat from the higher density of the ram sticks themselves. I think you made a good choice though, as with a propper tune you might be able to even do 7600mhz in 2:1 on that ram kit.

The sweetspot was initially said to be 6000mhz because that's what was max supported at the time.
As of the latest bios updates, the general user can EASILY do 6200mhz 1:1 now, and even 6400mhz with a bit of work.
This wasn't the case when AM5 first came out, meaning only as of late, has the sweetspot area changed for AM5.
Not only that, new bioses are now capable of 7600-8000mhz when running 2:1! Amd contrary to what some what say, there are gains to be had on AM5 X3D with high frequency ram, as the bandwidth gains are huge, and the latency us the same as running lower frequency 1:1, making it the overclockers new best choice for ram speed choices on AM5!

Is your FCLK actually stable? AM5 FCLK has built in error correction at the expense of performance. Running FCLK at 2133 with VSOC at 1.3v sounds insane (FCLK scales negatively with VSOC, the more voltage you pump into VSOC the more unstable your FCLK becomes). Try running y-cruncher VT3 stress test for a few hours on the 6000 config to see if you see any performance degredation. If you see odd performance drops in the stress test it means your Infinite Fabric is unstable and doing error correction.

Thats only the factory spec. Intel is rated at 5600 but people push it to 8000+ because the IMC is much better than AMD.
AM5 is good at 6000, that is the sweet spot, regardless of how many sticks. Some can reach 6400. Also, there is no DDR5 3600 lol. That would be DDR4, which is AM4.
Any higher than 6400 & you have to run Gear 4 essentially which is ass (unlike Intel, which is G2 at higher speeds). So 7600 G4 will run worse than 6400 G2 on AMD, and 7600 G2 Intel will run circles around AMD 6400 G2.

I haven't found any reviews to date with the 5600 and cl 28, I believe the platform is truly optimized for the memory controller clock at a lower frequency, for example I use 6000 on the 7950x3d cl 32, I got it for 6400 with the same cl 32, but it gets worse In this case I left the memory controller equal to the memory frequency 3200 = 3200 or 6400 = 6400, but 5 fps less than 6000, when I tried with 5600 and cl 28 I got 7 more frames but my memory clips didn't stabilize, blue screen death lol

    • @Beefy-Tech
      @Beefy-Tech  Рік тому +1

If 6400mhz gave you worse results than 6200mhz, that's most likely due to timings on 6200mhz profile being done better, or simply the 6400mhz profile being unstable. Aslong as timings are perfect, the 6400mhz profile should scale in performance.
Also, on a normal X series the ram difference would be more noticeable, but I believe there's no reason to buy a normal X series from 7000 series over an X3D if you are looking for highest end performance, thus I stuck with using the faster CPU option for comparison.
