I feel that, I remember back in mid 2012 when I wuz in 5th grade I saw this on TV and I rooted for Ben the entire movie then when he turned it fucked me up a little bit but now as an adult i fully still rock this movie 💯💪🏿
This movie is severely underrated, but I just wanna point out how fucking creepy that the credits are overlayed on photos taken during this crisis. It really helps it seem like a prequel to Dawn of the Dead.
Well in George A Romeros zombieverse. Night,Dawn,Day,Land, and Diary of the Dead are all connected each movie shows the stages of the Zombie apocalypse Night is Days in Dawn is Weeks in Day is Months in Land is Years in and Diary is hours in
The musical score for the end credits of this movie was both amazing and frightening at the same time- most definitely up there with "Somebody's Watching Me". Plus, Patricia Tallman's character staring at the very large pile of burning undead with absolute and unsettling concern REALLY got me. It's as if she was expecting something worse was going to happen, and soon. It was the " THIS is just the beginning" stare.🤨
One of the few superior remakes, that final shot of the logo over Pat Talman's beautiful eye is epic. The zombies have lost their humanity but the ending suggests maybe the survivors have too?
i still prefer the original - but otherwise, yes, highly agreed, outstanding remake, and a great zombie flick in it's own right, criminally underrated!
The look she has when seeing the bonfire. You know what she was thinking - whose truly the monsters? Us? Or them? It was a point that George Romero made very clear in Diary of The Dead as well
Curious. That's EXACTLY what I thought, too. Her staring at the bonfire like "THIS is just the beginning" really got my attention. I think possible sequel, given that the vapors from the bonfire happen to go airborne traveling to cities and towns- curious, yet scary....🤨

This movie and Dawn of the Dead leaves you with a chaotic sense of hopelessness that you never forget. After all these years this ending still elicits that same emotions I felt over 20 years ago....amazing movies.
I wish they could remake Dawn of the Dead, like they remade this. No fast zombies. But then again, DOTD 78 is still the best... and hard to top (except, however, I wish the zombie effects, primarily, the blue looking makeup could be color corrected digitally). Unfortunately with Romero gone, nothing will likely happen.

It really isn’t that gory for a zombie film considering who is directing. I wonder if they had censor issues with the MPAA and were forced to cut out a lot of stuff? In any event, it’s still a very well made film and I consider it better than the original. One of the rare remakes that has achieved this.

Does anyone have the long version of this ending? I have a version I taped off a late-night network broadcast years ago of this, using RCA jacks off my VCR into a little minicassette recorder. It was this same ending; rolling credits over the bonfire, with camera clicks & still images leading into the actual music. But the actual music end theme lasted 4min:46sec, with an additional full minute of guitar solo.
