Interstate 80 in Nevada is one of the most beautiful and underrated drive in the country, especially in the spring and early summer with the views of the snow-capped mountains. Nevada is Spanish for snow-capped and I-80 helps Nevada live up to its name very well.
The other direction is probably even better. You go across all day, then when you come between the cliffs at Wendover, there is the salt flats laid out in blazing white below you.
I want to drive 95 through Nevada so badly! Ever since I found Walker Lake on a map, I knew I wanted to see it in person. And the ghost towns on that route are legendary.

Beautiful - High resolution scenery ! This is the road I traveled many times but that was back in the 60s. The road then was mostly single lane. You've got me hooked and I'm ready for more !

There is a book you should read I think. It is called Rough-Hewn Land by Keith Heyer Meldahl. In it he drives from California to the Rockies. He also explains the Basin n Range you are driving thru. Did you know Salt Lake and Reno are drifting apart half an inch a year? Not only do we get to see this geology of the past through your travels but it is still on going today. The earth is alive and this is one of the most fascinating living areas on the planet. I could go on and on but lunchtime is almost over. Thank you thank you for letting us see living geology in the slowest of motion today. :D
Great recommendation. A remarkably clear, entertaining, and lucid description of the geological history of the Western USA. Reading on Kindle and visiting all the places he talks about on Google Maps. Maybe can visit them in real life some day!

It had to be a brutal journey by wagon train. Especially when compared with driving 75-80 MPH on nicely paved roads in an air conditioned car with music playing and restaurants/grocery stores plus modern lodging available!

Some of those road construction scenes and detours look familiar to me. 😂 Your video quality is always so good. No glare, light reflection, or dead insects. How did you achieve this? Good job.
Great drive. I worked in Battle Mountain in the late 90s for the state. Been all over I 80, from Truckee to Wendover. Good stuff. What kind of vehicle are you driving?
I'm very enjoying this kind of video.. but I'm curious how can you drive 400 miles in 4 5 hrs... it means run constantly at 80 mph for 5 full hrs... anyway, I found a vast dessert with mountaineous background such as in Nevada is somehow very relaxing... like a peaceful place for blank spacing, maybe even better in winter... such a beautiful landscape. One thing that puzzled me is that when driving West and making a pit stop and then by mistake enter the freeway going East, you may have to drive 50 miles East before you can make a legal U-turn going back West, thus wasting 100 miles of driving.
Actually, no. The "loneliest road" is US Highway 50, which crosses Nevada roughly 100 miles south of I-80. 50 is two lanes, and doesn't go through anything as big as Elko or Winnemucca.
Lots of maintenance. These roads do not come for nothing. Most of the dollars from the Feds as it should be cause these roads are number one in the nations commerce.

I LOVE I 80 BEST INTERSTATE
It’s incredible all the different landscapes you travel when driving I-80.

One missed exit could cost a lot of time and miles for sure!

That part of Nevada look more like a rugged Asia steppe like climate than a desert. Southeast California and southern Arizona, that’s a desert.🤔🤔🤔🤔
