    Thanks for the video. I was able to follow your process and with a few minor changes with my 2011 Acadia, the engine replacement went very well in my garage. I am just a backyard mechanic that works on my kids cars and my own. Your video gave me the confidence to try the engine replacement, SO THANK YOU !!!

      It looks way worse than it is . It is time consuming but not too bad. I think I had to remove mine 3 different times due to transmission issues that followed. I will say once you have had it apart it seems to go much easier the next time. Thanks for the feedback.

    Excellent job! I was laughing when you said you wouldnt do a timing chain job on this vehicle with the engine in the car. I did that job before and would be more comfortable doing it that way again. After years of service the engine has died just a few days ago and i can say after seeing you do the swap i believe im going to have a shop do it. Thanks for the video. Congrats on a job well done! Out of curiosity hiw much was the engine? Was it crate or salvage? The ones I've found are 3500 used/salvage. Why so expensive? Mine started knocking so I changed now it's screeching like the pistons aren't getting oil. May not be but sounds this way. Oil consumption is awful. Anyway gonna rebuild engine. It's all sludge under valve covers. Don't think oil is getting to top or ever was.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 роки тому +1

      Yes , way back when I bought one they were terrible expensive I believe it was around 2500 . I know these engines just continue to go up. Thanks for watching.

    Great video. Watching because someone has one for $700 locked up motor but real straight and clean. Leather interior all bells and whistles. I’m going to try and get it for $500. Where did you get the motor? I see crates for around $2500. Does that sound similar?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  3 роки тому

      yes , 700 for a great looking acadia sounds like an awesome deal. These engines have gotten so pricey even the used seem to be running 2500 to 3k, so 2500 for a reman or crate is the only way tk go. Much better engine with upgrades , no miles and warranty. Thanks for the feedback

      It is similar to the type of oring/washer seals used on ac lines. Here is an Acadia cooler line , you can see what I am refering to. Not sure if these can be bought separate or not. Thanks for the feedback.

    Is this a front wheel drive or all wheel drive? I noticed there is no mention of the driveshaft being disconnected or the sway bar links. The video seems very thorough so I'm just curious if it got overlooked or I'm seeing something incorrectly. Thanks for posting! I'm in the middle of pulling mine and this video is great!

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  Рік тому

      This one is front wheel drive , the sway bar end links need removed either top or bottom to drop the sub frame. The awd will be a little more work dropping the transfer case out of the way. Thanks for the feedback.

    Wondering if you have any insight on our problem. We put a 2015 engine in a 2009. The coil plugs are different on the 2009 wire harness so we can’t plug the proper coils in. We had the 2009 coils in for a little bit then started getting misfire codes. Found out that they are not the same part number so I suspect we definitely need to figure out how to use the 2015 coils. How do you think we can make this work? Thanks

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  10 місяців тому

      As far as I know 09-16 should interchange. I would put some new 2009 coils on it with original harness from 2009. Also check and swap any other sensors that may be different. Maybe someone else could chime in. Wish I could be more help.

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  3 роки тому

      yes, acadia , traverse , enclave. The problem is that they're all pretty pricey. When I got this 2007 engine from ebay it was around 1500 delivered but now they're hovering around 2000. It depends on the year also though. Thanks for watching.

      Don't do any internal repair unless you have a Misfire issue that you cannot resolve from Plugs, Coils, Upstream o2's or clogged cat(typically is not cat on these 3.6's.).
      If there is no correlation codes, no codes at all and not misfiring. Then internals are not needed but an oil change is the absolute best thing you can do for these 3.6's at every 4000 miles with SAE 5W-30. Make sure your oil is at full line, every 400 miles.
      If you just want to rip into one and learn about it, I suggest going to a pullapart type junk yard and just go nuts!
      If they ask, you're interested in the motor.
      Once you get into the lower end, you can just walk away with the reason that it's not the right version 1 or 2 stamping. :wink:
      Or just buy the engine from junkyard for 175 and bring it home.. That's how I researched a few engine series.
      There isn't a school that specializes in 1 engine model, nor one that pays you back two-fold.. So it's nice to learn about the differences, revisions and problems by having it on your own bench. When you're done, you sell the engine as parts on craigslist for 400. ; )
      p.s. to LY7 owners, On my chan there is a 3.6 LY7 (same fam as LLT) with broken cam intermediate idler gear bolt that only showed 2 4 6 random misfire code and wouldn't stay running.

    • @chipedge

    Would a 2017 engine fit on a 2009 body? Would it work ? Plug and play ?

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  3 роки тому

      The 2017 engine would be different 2nd gen engine LGX the 2009 would use the 1st gen LLT engine. Swapping would be extensive work I am assuming with everything needing swapped including the tran. As far as it bolting up I am not sure but if everything was swapped ie computer harness and all accessories it could be made to work. But simply put it would not fit. Great question and thank you for watching.
