It’s nice to see you getting back to the arrangement and organization of your tiny house and enjoying it! Loved this clothing tip, have seen it before, but now I will do it! I am not vegan and do not follow most of the cooking, but love your approach to tasks! 😊 I first found your channel following your tiny house story posts during Covid and loved them. Then your organizing talent for tackling cleaning out belongings in your house, organizing, and these have been so good and motivating. I had subscribed and become a patreon. Loved your much earlier show also on thinking about decluttering clothing - what outfits you could put together with clothing in the closet. You emphasized clothes that fit you and that you really liked. You laid out all the items on the bed, & made a pile to donate (not wearing, don’t look good on, don’t go with anything). You bagged those and removed from room. You also grouped basic essential wardrobe by color families, and coordinated items with that in mind. You threw out things that were too worn out! That process was an eye-opener to me and the next week I did my closet that way and reduced/organized my clothing in the closet and drawers. Great, and I really liked the outcome! Thank you for another great tip, Angelina and I will now get started on this one! And I think I’ll go back to find that earlier post too! ❤
Even if you had to crawl into the closet, it would only be for 1-2 minutes a day. I have two closets and hardly go in there. My jeans and tops for everyday are in the dresser. Great video. Since the pandemic, I got rid of 80% of my clothes. I work from home three days a week. Life has changed.
Great challenge! I'm doing this again with you. Last time I did this was pre-covid. I had turned all my hangers around then covid hit and we were grounded. I dressed very very comfortably, lol. Took 3 years to actually finish the challenge!❤
Thank you for another inspiring video, Adelina. So good to see beautiful Sophie, too, I am living vicariously through your videos since I cannot have a cat in my apartment. I have just decluttered an entire carload of donations to the thrift store, but I still need to go through my clothes. I need to try this clothes hanger challenge to separate out the clothes I don't wear. I appreciate your videos because they feel like I am visiting a friend and chatting over coffee. Thanks for all you do to keep us informed and inspired. It is so nice to visit you and Sophie.
My problem is that if I only ever wore what I really like, I wouldn’t be able to leave the house - as I’d be in pyjamas forever (however, I’ve heard a stereotype about some people in America that go to Walmart in their pyjamas!). I still have some clothes from 1980’s, but I don’t often wear them but they are so well made, I don’t want to get rid of them. I’m not very good at buying clothes, the only thing I get new is underwear but I bought a coat last year when it got really cold, and nothing else. (I’m a scout leader and was given a t-shirt and a hoodie on a camp, too - and some socks at Christmas!). So last years haul was 3 items and some underwear and socks!
Billie Blue, I totally get the pyjamas thing. Ever since I retired, I absolutely live in leggings and big shirts. If I ever had to go somewhere fancy (unlikely. lol), I would have nothing to wear. Comfort before style is my motto. ♥
Love this challenge! I did something similar when I did the Marie Kondo method of getting rid of clothes. I donated SIX garbage bags full of clothes I no longer wear! (I was a clothes hoarder, lol) That was years ago, I hardly have any clothes now and I agree, it is so much easier to get dressed when you have less to choose from! Can't wait to see the results from your challenge!
That's an awesome challenge! I was planning to go through my closet today and will be turning my hangers around 😊 I live in Southern California (San Diego) and the weather isn't nearly as extreme compared to where you live, but I do seem to have a LOT of clothes 🙈. Thank you for showing us this challenge Adelina! BIG hugs to Sophie and Blessings to you and your family 💝XX
I do the backward hanger trick. When it's been washed, I return it with hanger backward, then I turn it forward. At the end of a season, I look for all the positions of the hangers. If it's never been turned, I donate it.
Hi Adelina & Sophie 🐾 I love your closet design...so much usable space and nicely organized! My small apartment closet is a narrow 2.5ft wide wardrobe cabinet. I really got to try this challenge...great idea!
the tiny ADU I rent is a nice 2-door slider but unfortunately they put the hot water heater in one side! So, I'm confined to less than 3' and a half shelf above. Bought those hanger accessories that hang over the top of the hanger so you can double up with supposedly the space of one item. Not. Totally challenged and love this video.
Good video, Adelina. ♥ I personally pretty much only buy second-hand clothes, so my shopping experiences depend on what is available in the local thrift stores. Sometimes I can't find anything I like or in my size; other times I find something really good. I have been wearing my winter coat, which I bought second-hand, for at least 25 years. It was like brand new when I got it and it has held up well. I paid about $20 for it. But it's beige and I am just sick of it. So recently I went looking for a new-to-me winter coat and did I find a bargain! And it's purple, my favourite colour! It fits great, is like new, has deep pockets and a hood, and it cost me $17.41 with my 20% off coupon at Salvation Army thrift store. So happy! Good luck with your hanger process. Big hugs! ♥♥♥
Dear Adelina: Victoria has some great used clothing shops-especially a store in Oak Bay! It's great shopping without clearing out your checkbook! I know that's a long way from where you are,but you could visit your friends and have a "look-sse!". Have a good day!
I just started practicing my guitar again! Get it out and put it somewhere you see it every day. That's the only way. I decided years ago, I was only purchasing close at thrift stores. I have nicer, better quality clothes that cost hardly anything. That way, when I re-donate it I don't feel guilty about wasting money.
I used to purge a lot more than I do now as a retired person. If I have a piece that I like and fits but is extra I don’t want to get rid of it and then in a year have to spend to replace. My work cloths are gone as well as the majority of heels. So simplified but still a ways to go
My closet allows my hangers to be only placed one way. What I have done is placing the recently worn clothing into the middle. I have a shelving unit in the middle that separates my closet into two sides. At the end of the season, anything in the back that hasn’t been worn is donated. If I find anything torn or the wrong size is also thrown away or donated.
Do you have a few places you donate to. I'm always curious what other places have or don't. And since we don't live in the same country, that makes me more curious.
I love your closet...perfect tiny house design! My mind immediately goes to "Are there spiders in there?" Now that I'm thinking of it, do you get mice in your house at all?
I'm intrigued that you hang up your heavier knit sweaters. I prefer things on hangers over drawers so I can see everything at a glance. But I've always been reluctant to hang my sweaters for fear they'd stretch out of shape with gravity. That doesn't happen for you?
You have a larger closet than most tiny homes. I struggle with my closet because it's quite long but I can only access is at the doorway. I have arranged things multiple ways and. can't get it to work for me. It's really frustrating.
My only suggestion is to be really, really certain you are not going to need or want those things in the future. Well-made clothing and shoes made of natural fibers are hard to find these days unless you are paying a super premium. Most clothing/shoes now are cheaply made and synthetic. (I went to fashion school and have observed the steady decline in quality over the last 20 years.) I, for example, will not give away my vintage 100% wool coats (that I still wear) because that quality does not exist anymore. Go look at what is considered "wool" in stores now. 🤮 I also hang on to natural fiber basics that don't go out of style as I don't care for most polyesters, nylons, viscose, etc. Jeans that are all cotton can even be difficult to come across as most are now mixed with spandex and other synthetics. I am slowing buying less and less in stores. I plan to buy vintage from thrift stores more. There are still gems to be found in second-hand shops.
I dumped a crap load of clothes when I dropped 70pounds...gained it back plus...refused to rebuy...donating smaller stuff no..and only have a handfull of leggings and tops that hide? my fat...I'm so sad...
I always enjoy your videos.they are encouraging thank you!🙏🏾 🐈🤗
I'm so glad you find them encouraging! 😊
I feel the same, inspired by the wise messages 😊

I love your closet. Yours is the most clever design for a tiny house. Definetely we all have enough clothes and much more. Good challenge!
So true!

Looks like a good plan going forward. Hope you have a great week. ❤️🐱🐈🌹
You too! 😊

Exactly! It's such a good way to see what you actually wear isn't it?
Awesome challenge!! Thanks for sharing Adelina 😻🙏
You’re so welcome! 🎉
Yes big inspiration thanks
Love your glasses. Keep the grey jumper with the colours in it. It's lovely. Belated Happy New Year. Mary Behan
So agree and like the idea of the hangers.

My clothing mentality is, “if it’s clean and it fits, I’m wearing it.”

Wouldn't it be nice to have the same system that a dry cleaner has? Push a button and the rack will rotate your clothes!!
That would be cool!
Is your insurance very expensive ? You have full coverage or

It’s tough when your clothes don’t fit 🥺. Might be time to buy yourself a few things that fit and make you feel good.
@myBIGtinyhouselife I dont go anywhere I need to dress fancy...I live in Innisfal,AB...lol!
