Just tried this and it was amazing... I had to make a few substitutions though... I hate cucumber so I used peas instead. And I didn't have any spam so used sausages. And I also didn't have rice or soy sauce so I did the best second option and made mash and gravy. But it was bloody delicious! Best Chinese I've ever had. Keep up the good work!

For the rice cooker having a crust I have a trick that works for me that there’s never a crust. Once cooked unplug it and leave it aside for about 10-15 mins. Do not open in between. Once ready, fluff the rice up and make sure you get to the bottom. I always do that and there’s no crust at the blttom

Spam, egg and seasoned oil is a staple of my family growing up. Never had the cucumber though. Totally gonna add that next time. Great vid!
Also, loved it when your mum came out with the Singlish. Cracked me up. I have a cousin who moved to Singapore, and he still has a distinct London accent but his daughter speaks with a strong Singaporean accent and it reminded me of that haha.

When I went to Korea on business for the first time I was amazed at the number of dishes that had SPAM, hot dogs, processed cheese etc that were in some of the most popular foods in a restaurant we went to. I couldn't quite believe it as we'd said to our assistant that we wanted to go only to real places where locals eat. It was explained to me that it's totally authentic and their addition came from American GI rations after the war, which makes perfect sense. Still I decided to err on the less Western dishes, but it didn't look bad I have to admit.
