    This sticks in my memory.
I was 20 years old and I got the phone call that my Mum had passed away so I stayed home from work and watched this by myself. I remember feeling so numb, but so mesmerised at the same time. Here we are almost 20 years later, I get to reflect.
For those wondering if you "have to be high" while watching this, no... Sometimes you watch something and it just clicks with you, like the movie or song or whatever was made by someone who was in the same mood as what you currently are in.
I don't think I ever want to sit down and watch this again, but at the time it just felt like the perfect thing to watch!

I watched this for the first time during its brief theatrical release lifetime.
Why did I go see it? Because I was angry, and I wanted a diversion, something completely new to me. I was blown away. Since then, I've enjoyed the "sequels", Powaqaatsi and Nagoyaqaatsi. Each is as beautiful and moving as the next. These films are my personal treasures.

This is not a "Ted Kopple movie." The film was produced by Francis Ford Coppola, directed by Reggio, Ron Fricke, and scored by Philip Glass. Ted Koppel was in no way involved in the making of the movie. You're only repeating IMDB. His face, along with others, flashes on the screen for less than a second at one point an hour into the film.
You correct this in your video's title.

Perhaps venture further out. There's plenty of vast, natural locations with literally no humanity in sight.
Two things are for sure, we're heading for a population crisis (no, I do not mean too many people - the opposite) and whatever external issues may threaten this planet it'll be humanity that saves it. Science is literally the only reason we still exist and very well might be what eventually saves the earth from being a barron wasteland of molten potholed nothingness.
Yup, someone is thinking, "we're destroying the planet". Likely true. However, since we need the planet then we'll fix it - necessity is the mother of innovation - the more people - the more likely we'll crack whatever problems come our way.
FYI, nature is the most destructive force. I love nature and the outdoors but lets not make out it gives a stuff about us. It'll smite us in a heartbeat in mere moments just as it has countless times before. All we do is fight nature - as nature is perpetually trying to end us for billions of years.
If more people embraced humanity the world would be a better place.

Ted Koppel? Nope! This is a Philip Glass / Francis Ford Coppola movie. I don't think Ted Koppel ever made any movies. He was a broadcaster for goodness sake.

So many people in these comments complaining about climate change and capitalism but refuse to return to tradition. They cling desperately to cultural progress of the last 200 years, which was a result of industrialization. We either go back, or we cease to exist.

I saw it in theaters. It was the single worst moviegoing experience of my life. No one told me it was going to be super boring and that later I would have to pretend to like the fact that it was boring or be called a boor.

One of the most pretentious, over rated, headache inducing movies in all of cinema. It’s just a huge judgment piece made by a societal outcast. And the fans of this movie are always the worst kind of people, complaining about industry and capitalism while actively reaping the benefits of it, just like reggio and fricke
