Imo, the brown cat should be named "Owl" or "Auburn" and the grey should be named "Storm" or "Dust/y". (I have a lot of name suggestions but I’m containing myself)

No! I was in the middle of making an au storyboarded map like this it was literally gonna be called Smudge’Bone and it was going to be were smudge joined Bloodclan. Dang it I literally had the script and everything… I didn’t know that someone already made one like it! Do you think I could still make mine or would it be too similar?

For the palette. Personally, in my case, I mean the atmosphere and mood of the part! You don't have to use exactly the colors on the palette, but you need to do something similar [background, character color, lights and shadows] so that your part doesn't stand out from other parts with this palette.
In the classical sense, palettes are used so that people draw only those colors that are used in the palette [up to the exact color of the shadows and lights, if any are used in the project]
