I have a question. I’m writing a Sci-fantasy with space pirates (they are a found family trying to get over past trauma) and I wanted the ship’s cook to binge eat as a coping mechanism. Would that be insensitive or ok?
Because I only really learned cooking, since I needed to eat more than my family.
So I wanted to make the binge eating person the chef, because he has direct access to the kitchen etc. More than anywhere else on the ship.

Incase no one has mentioned it, the term vagina is from Latin meaning “sheath” or “scabbard”. So that’s hopefully why all the penis sword references come from, but it could also be coincidence. Doesn’t mean it being used over and over again isn’t annoying as hell.

@@ReadswithRachel many languages are super weird when it comes to gender. Like things being gendered by articles in German.
Also, in German the default noun for any job is masculine (because patriarchy) and the female version has a female article and a female ending.
It's "Der Lehrer" so "male article" + teacher and "Die Lehrerin" so "female article" + teachess. If you want to have a gender neutral version for all teachers you have to basically splice the job with the female suffix: Lehrer*Innen so "teacher" + "esses".
It's interesting to see the original sexist gender structure and the modern attempts to fix it.

I do enjoy the ACOMAF themes and the "sweet spot", and I absolutely love Auren, not-Rhys and the magic. Still I found myself skipping so much of her descriptions, and skipping ALL of Malina's pages, and just dragging myself by my fingernails to get to the end of Glow. The resolution is fine, but the journey there was exhausting. And that's considering I read SJM series, so I know what's to be fucking drained.
One thing that was really positive for me was that despite the sex scenes getting tedious, I did appreciate the way by the end of Glow Raven shows Auren's indecision and doubts whether she would ever want someone else rather than Slade, and if she is truly ready for throwing herself back at an *ETERNAL AND ALL CONSUMING* relationship. I felt like her doubts and fears and genuine hesitation were pretty accurate and realistic, and made me relate to that.

Ethereal means in a nutshell: otherworldly, heavenly, beautiful and graceful. Granted, it's more commonly used to describe females, but I guess for fae men that would kinda work too? I don't read a lot of romance because... it lacks the right kind of action for me. I prefer epic fantasy as a top choice :D But I did enjoy this video, entertaining and insightful.

God I will never ever get over how much I loved Tamlin only for SJM to do him SO fucking dirty like that. I got spoiled for the rest of the series after ACOTAR (on purpose bc I was watching book reviews for the series) and when I found out what happened to his character I was SOOO disappointed and upset I dropped ACOTAR right there. I didn’t even finish the first book bc I was so disappointed 😭 honestly I think I dodged a bullet bc the disappointment would’ve been a thousand times worse had I continued with the series and found out on my own.
Tamlin had kinda given me Howl vibes and I’m a huge Howl’s Moving Castle nut, he wasn’t a prefect character obviously but I liked his flaws. His character really deserved better than the treatment that he got. I will forever be chasing that high that Howl’s Moving Castle and 1st half of ACOTAR got me :’)

For the case you take recommandation for reading from here. I could imagen, that you could like two books of the Author Rebecca F. Kenney. She writes dark fantasy romance, with often enemies to lovers and forced procimity. Not all books she writes are for everyone (some get very dark), but this are more on the middle ground. Especially:
Prize of the Warlord (I admit, I don't like the titel, but the book)
    Captive of the Pirate King
The Horsemen of Sleepy Hollow (Really liked the version. It has an interesting backround for the Horsemen)

Thank you! I was wondering if it's only me.. The dialogues are horrible (especially book 1), the tedious, continuous, endless overexplainations of characters' thoughts and backgrounds, the... simply *stupid* actions of the characters, all couples have the exact same pattern, their sex is always the same and never really loving or gentle, the constant degradation of women and the main character (she's not really allowed to grow as a person and woman, at least not as fast as I would have liked)..... It's all just 🤮
