I love how well made this video was. I'm a teacher and really liked how objective and fast it was to get the idea. I also loved the quality of your voice. Thank you and congratulations!
Finally, they heard the request. Now, I hope they work with the Breakout room feature as well.
Always thank you for the great videos here. This one, however, seems to be about sharing Video+Audio, rather than sharing only the audio (e.g. an mp3 I'm playing on my PC) with the students. You might want to change the title to prevent any further disappointment.
My suggestion:
How to play an audio file (on your device) in Google Meet
:
1. Simply drag and drop the file over Google's Chrome interface.
2. Share that chrome tab on your Google Meet.
Thx for this...but I still cannot share the recording...when I click the present button, my students AND I cannot hear the recording. When I stop presenting, I can hear the recording, but my students still can't :(
I wound up at this video because I looked up "how to present a WINDOW in google meet with audio."
My disappointment can't be described with words.
Exact same thing with me. Have you found any way to solve this?
Nope.
@@nagol2602 Apparently google doesn't have a way to do that, so far. All we can do is wait.
A great feature. Even better then the cast function. This feature also allows you to play movies or audio that you have on your computer. For example, a movie (mp4, webm) or an mp3 file. These formats can be opened in Chrome / tab.
You are my Google Meet GURU. Thank you so much
Thank you! Glad I can be helpful in navigating Google Meet.
I've watched the whole series of Google Meet and it's so good! Yes, it is not the same as ZOOM, but it does have some cool features that can make a teleconference available for the people who are not in Zoom and perhaps feel intimidated on opening up a new app, whereas this one is part of the Google suit. Thank you so much for making this videos so easy to understand and to learn!
I absolutely love this update, but the sound quality is pretty poor. I've found that if I do not move my cursor or click anything at all, and I close as many tabs as possible, that all helps, but it's still not great. Any other tips?
Everytime I present the chrome tab (UA-cam), the video is lagging and the audio is choppy. Anyone has the same issue?
I encounter the same issue too. My internet connection is strong as Ive done speed testing, however when trying to share video in Meet with my trainees, it's static and keeps on lagging. Hope this can be addressed.
pls suggest any fix if you have found any
@@valeriemula pls suggest any fix if you have found any
Yes, I have the very same problem. The audio is so choppy.
same here. up
Yay!! Can’t wait to try this as I had a fail today when I tried to share a UA-cam video. Was about to load it on my TV and just show the kids the screen! 🤪
very helpful simple straightforward video!! Thanks!!!
Thank you
I m really thankful for your useful videos.
Thank you
I admire the way you teach about the usage of all icons regarding computer, thank you so much, god bless you
Thank you for this video, I had this problem just yesterday april 21 2020, so I was gladly surprice to see you had just uploaded the solution
Great to hear that!
for those who experience audio lag when presenting video in chrome tab, I suggest that you download the video instead. present it using "a window" you may use VLC window player. now for you to broadcast your audio, go to gmeet settings, click audio and set microphone to "stereo mix". This will prevent audio video to lag because data transmission is direct and short. Thank you
Thank You thank you thank you.. Saved this teacher lots of headache and time
Awesome update about Google Meet!
Easy to understand and concise. Thanks, Sethi for always creating useful videos 👏
Thanks! You're helping outr online classes become better with all these informations about google meet!
Brilliant short video, just got to make it work now. Thanks. Dave
Thanks for solving my problem with "soundless" video session in my meetings.
What happens if I need to share content from a software I have installed in my CP (can't open it in Chrome tabs)? Thanks!
Same here!
I want to share video and audio that resides on my computer in a MP4 video format, NOT on a tab...is that possible in google Meet? Works well in zoom
If your local video file is mp4 format, then you can drag and drop to chrome browser and play it in a chrome tab. Then you can present that Chrome tab in Google Meet. If the video cannot be played in Chrome, you can use Handbrake(handbrake.fr/) to convert it to mp4 format.
Just what I needed for my staff development workshop next week. I made a link to all my movie clips in case the technology fails
Your videos are great, but I'm struggling. i want to show a range of audio and videos from my desktop. uploading them all will take weeks. I now know how to share audio online but how do I share audio from other apps?
@Sukruti Singi same with me
If your local video file is mp4 format, then you can drag and drop to chrome browser and play it in a chrome tab. Then you can present that Chrome tab in Google Meet.
CAN I HELP YOU?
Go to your settings of the sysem. Go to sound settings, go to sound control panel, click on recordings, right click on stereo mix, enable it, give ok. job done. Now the internal sound travels along your video that you have saved in your folder. Hope It was of help.

Well That is an awesome trick. I will try it! Thanks for that prompt reply. You are a Guru!!!
Thank you!
thank you it was immense help, but please try to incorporate that mute all system as zoom and to scroll see more participants
Important addition by Google, congratulations. But please do fix video and audio qualities - too much echo and glitching.
My Google Meet does not offer the "Chrome Tab" option when presenting....just entire screen or window....please help!
It's a brand new feature and is rolling out to different domains and accounts. It should show up soon. My demo domain is a rapid release domain.
Mine doesn’t show either......how long might it be?
Same here, not showing. Fingers crossed!
Btw, it has been announced: support.google.com/meet/answer/9308856?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en
@@hanskirchner yeah ok it's been announced, but it is not showing up as an option
How to share computer( File Exploerer) audio in Google meet.?
Keep up the show Bro. Well done.
Thank you!
Thanks, quick and well explained.
Thanks for sharing, very useful
You're welcome
I've done a couple of tests and it seems like there is major flaw to this: when you share a tab with audio/video the host has to mute themselves or the audio from the presented tab echos through the mic. So this means the host has to mute and unmute themselves whenever they want to talk. Google meet can't automatically disconnect the mic as the audio is being played. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm struggling with this too. So cumbersome to have to mute and unmute yourself so there is no double sound.
Best way is to use a headset.
Lagging, choppy audio: there is a solution... It all depends on the quality of computer, I believe. I tried this on three different computers at my school. All of them had this problem. Then I tried it on my Macbook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 15, 4GB RAM 1600 MHz DDR3. This is still a 10-year-old computer-- but it is a Macbook Pro and I'm guessing has a better graphics card and processor than the PC's I had been using). It worked perfectly (and, no, I don't work for Apple)!! I tested it with another teacher this morning then tried it with a full online class in Google Meet this afternoon. In both cases there were no troubles at all. So if you are dealing with bad audio, there is a solution...you have to get a faster, better computer.
Thank you so very much! I am a music teacher, and I need to be able to share audio files! This was very helpful!!!
Great to hear. Happy it helped!
I was trying to show a video today and the sound was very choppy. I did all the steps, but it sounded terrible!
you saved my day from last min hiccups. thanks a lot.
Thanks Sethi for the update
ive tried both this option and the Cast option from your other video and the audio is SO choppy and it stutters like crazy. ive tried closing all other programs but the audio quality is still incredibly poor. what can i do to fix this?
Yay! Thank you! Trying to play Quizlet live via googlemeet with students. Hopefully they will hear the sound now. Thanks again!
Brilliant! Hope all goes well
I tried this technique a few times and it's much easier.
Zoom doesn't limit you to browser content. It allows you to share DESKTOP audio too. Why can't Google just copy what Zoom does? Checkbox "Share Computer Audio" Done
When I present a chrome tab, I make sure to leave the Share audio ticked off. During the presentation, I do not hear the video. I just see it. Also, my students are saying that the video is choppy. There is a lot of lag in both video and audio. Is casting then a better option? I have not tried casting yet. I live in an area where I have high speed internet and so do my students but it's still not very fast internet. I know that when I watch a video, I can see and hear the video well. Just not sure if our internet speed is adequate for sharing a chrome tab? Again, would chrome casting help in my situation?
I have the same issue. I've tried casting too but it's still the same. the video is lagging and the audio is choppy. I don't think it's because of our internet connection bc my friends have the same issue also.
I present the video and play the audio with my phone so my students can look at the video and hear the sound. I do hope google fix this issue soon.
Awesome, thanks for the news!
Wow, Good Advice...Thanks a lot..
Thank you so very helpful, easy to understand and to place in effect immediately. Thank you!
Oh, man...what a disappointment. As a teaching tool, this would have made my remote lessons sooo much easier. I could show students all sorts of stuff from UA-cam for a Media Arts class. But with the terrible audio and even video skips, trying to play video with audio through Meet fails. And so many are complaining about the same thing, you would think there was a fix. I've tried turning off camera and mic and even installing the h264ify extension. I can't use this without a solution....
Great update and helpful to me.
Thanks! I will try that instead of putting the meet on the calendar.
Thank you very much. You're my life saver
What happens when I have a video downloaded in my laptop? My students are not being able to hear the audio but they can see the video.
If your local video file is mp4 format, then you can drag and drop to chrome browser and play it in a chrome tab. Then you can present that Chrome tab in Google Meet. If the video cannot be played in Chrome, you can use Handbrake(handbrake.fr/) to convert it to mp4 format.
Is there a way to improve the streaming? My video is very choppy. It is not bandwidth because at school we have a strong wifi system.
When I do this the sound is glitchy and unclear. How can I fix this?
You have to mute your own computer because your audience is hearing the video's audio, plus what YOU are hearing through your own computer, slightly delayed.
We followed the instructions on this video. Thank you.
However when more than one participants joined the google meet the quality of the video being shared reduced significantly to make it not playable. Is there a reason why more people in the meet means that the video quality is reduced?
Thank you. This is really helpful :)
You're welcome
great again...yet how to share what is on my own laptop not a tab
Thank you Sethi from Pakistan.
Sethi, Great videos. Didactical and very easy to follow. Thanks I want to know if Meets will have a background screen like Zoom has it. Thanks
That is not supported. You can with a workaround get this done on Windows and Mac using the following trick: ua-cam.com/video/sC_5mguEG6E/v-deo.html
Hi, when i present videos through chrome tab, the participants could not hear the audio what to do?
In some way it works fine, but the quality of sound is not good when presenting your computer audio . Any suggestions?
HI, WHEN PRESENTING MY SLIDE I CAN NOT SEE THE OTHER PERSON THAT I AM PRESENTING TO. IT WOULD BE HELPFUL TO BE ABLE TO SEE THEM AND KNOW THEY ARE ENGAGED IN MY SLIDE. IS THERE A WAY TO SEE THE STUDENT I AM WORKING WITH
What I do is keep alt+tabing the 2 screens, and then check what's happening in the other tab.
Use the dualless extension.
Thank you, just made training my staff super easy!!!
Glad it helped!
thanks a lot sir. it was helpful to the greatest extent
It's important to note that this is ONLY an option if you have Google Chrome, which is NOT the default browser for Apple users. Their default is Safari. Meaning Zoom is the best system right now, as it works with all browsers.
Thank you. Very clear and useful. I am used to hosting meetings , but this time I am invited to present using googlemeet in a meeting which I am not organizing. Will the audience still be able to see my Cam when I am sharing my slides ? How would that look ? And last would you recommend alternating screensharing and cam view because some parts of my speech are not supported with slides? Thanks in advance.
Hello! Thanks for this video! Very straightforward and helpful. How about saving a recording of a call in Google Meet?
Hi. Thanks for your videos.
How can I share a sound track while sharing a page from a book. Typical situation: There's a listening activity where the student needs to see text while listening to the audio played on a different tab.
How can I share audio in Meet if the content isn't in browser? Eg sharing a Jackbox game we are playing together
That's not possible at the moment.
How do you share screen on phone while also playing the audio?
Teachers need a way to present but also play music in the background while they see a presentation from another source. Any updates to do that?
Thanks for making something so frustrating so easy!
Glad it helped!
Very useful, Thank You.
hello boyysssss its me heheehhe
Very good! Thank you ;)
What about sharing a video that is saved in google drive in MP4 format. cann that also be shared with audio.
Sure thing. You can share the tab and that way things should work.
Good video. but how do i share documents from my computer like sounds, photos and even word documents?
Thanks a lot.. is it possible to share only audio without video.. Thank you
Sir I have some question about your video which you made on creating free website . My question is how to set location of our sites . So that only people of particular country can visit our site . Pls help me sir
How can I change the layout - to see my student larger - I click change layout - various options but nothing changes. Thank you
If I want to share audio which is in a ppt, then what to do?
Hey! so whenever I present the Chrome Tab, the video is lagging and the audio is stammering. Any solution?
You have to mute your own computer. Your audience will be able to hear so much better, but unfortunately you won't be able to hear your own video though you can see it.
Thanks for the update, Sethi! Really useful. Would that also work if we just want to share ONLY the audio (say, the media player playing music) without a Chrome Tab? Oh and I still don't have that Chrome Tab option when presenting.
Hi There, Thank you very much for putting this together. Can you please advise if this is applicable on the iphone as well? (as in to have the ability to share a VIDEO WITH AUDIO), without having to launch google meet from a laptop? Thank you very much
Thank you!
Thank you so much!! How do share audio of a webinar that you are trying to watch with other people in Google meet?
Great update
In work in a school. Our educational assistants (EAs) are using Google Meet with students during distance learning. The EAs only have iPads, not laptops or desktops. How can they show a video that includes audio by using screen share on an iPad?
But it's still lacking the important feature of sharing the audio from an external program or application outside Chrome. What if I want to cast a movie for my students directly from some media player? Google Meet just won't let me do that unlike Zoom for exemple.
Thanks again for a great presentation...alas, the new feature produces choppy videos and constantly interrupted sound. Any ideas? Thanks and greetings from Mexico. Matthias Vogt
Thank you for the update! How about sharing powerpoint audio on google meet?
This seems to only available when using a desktop. Still, no option when on an android device.
Will surely try this one.
Hi! I have the third option but when I share a tab the video sounds terrible!! And goes slow and like brake down! Videos are really useful for me, I'm a preschool teacher ...what else can I do? Please help me!!
suggest how these settings can be seen and adjusted in android mobiles ... your settings seems to be fir laptop or desktop but how for mobile users...
Thanks for the update. I found out about it earlier. My problem is that when I do that share tab the audio is very staticy. When I say click on at the top of the sharing screen share tab only then the kids lose the visual screen and only hear the audio.
I want to play backing tracks to sing to live. However I don't know if that would come out well in Google meets? It does not work well on zoom, so I'm trying to find another platform. Thank you very much
ahhh so much easier thank you
Glad it helped!
Does the end user hear the shared audio in stereo or it gets compressed and sounds mono? If the sound is in stereo... panning can be heard
thanks for the info
Is there a way to do breakout room in Google Meet? Thank you. Your tutorials help me a lot.
