I am totally blind and as a highschooler I was led around the arena by a sided friend I danced women’s Southern cloth style and I was up to doing a coming out but she deserted me and it still hurts from 1985 but I love your detail description of your regalia as a blind person the pow wow is such a rich feast of things to feel and explore and understand I’ll never get to pit and order or an elk or a beaver or a bear but since I can see either pelt infielder pills I know what these animals would feel like so since I can’t be there in person I will send you a virtual loud long happy honor trill and thanks again for this wonderful video

Hey :) fortunately internet has its good sides, I have someone in mind (I'm gonna look her up for you) from which you could learn Powwow dancing at home, eventually when you'll be older (I suppose your age is stopping you from learning so it's difficult for you to attend Powwows or travel, I live in Europe so I'm waiting as well to be older and be able to travel to learn about my culture from the roots haha) you'll be able to attend Powwows 🧡 you don't need a regalia to learn, maybe through your process you could make your own, I'm sure there's tutorials out there, there's for sure inspirations on Pinterest, make one that makes sense to you, that reflects you. Luckily Powwow is very popular and spread through America, it's not like you want to learn the Mapuche's way, in which case it would be difficult as there's nothing on the internet but in this case there's so many people that are willing to share and educate and learn just like this lovely woman, don't hesitate to message people on instagram or TikTok idk, make contacts and be bold. (btw sorry if some things don't make sense or if I misspelled some words English is not my mother tongue) I'm wishing you luck, and a beautiful life ! I hope you can learn and attend Powwow and make your own regalia. Btw the way I love your name, it's very sweet 💜

So there's two women that I really love, one is called (on UA-cam) "Miss Chief Rocka" and the other "How To Powwow Dance". Keep in mind that it is a traditional dance and if you really want to dance Powwow you have to reconnect with your people first, your elders, your clan etc. Take care !

You're still alive...Do it now. I don't know if you are native American...I think you are. I am not and I know it's not ok for me to learn it. But I think it is so cool and the clothing is just wonderful.

Weird. Scandinavian only a shaman would wear a head piece like that, excluding the feather and it would be leafs or something of the earth that was grown from it. Not born into it, but each cultures are different, natives just participated in a Scandinavian ceremony at a concert/ritual and did there ritual first, because it was in NC so the respectful thing to do. But all smudged each other in there ways, and held hands and said a Nordic ritual, I wish all people were this way.

How much Native blood is enough to wear regalia? I was raised being told I have Native ancestry and when I took up genealogy I found I had Choctaw, Cherokee, Lumbee, Cherew and Powhatan but when I took a DNA test it said I had less that 2%.

I'm Anishinaabe. I also had my ancestry DNA done and I turned up 1% African & 1% Norwegian. I surely wouldn't go to an African or Norwegian festival wearing their regalia and expect to be taken seriously.

@@seventhfirestephanie8740 I decided to just create a ribbonskirt, they are ok for any women who want to show pride in their native side. And since the test Ive found out genes are funny, Ive found many named natives in my family tree and one is even my grandmothers grandmother. Plus my husband took one test, we know his great grand father was Comanche but on his test he also showed only a low percentage.

the eagles actually come from fish and wildlife they are the ones killed by poachers, vehicles, poisons etc. that are then picked up by fish and wildlife and shipped to an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe who then prays for and cleans up the carcass for use. i agree poor eagles that are hit and left for dead are poisoned whose homes are disappearing at an alarming rate your right how awful for them. Super proud we as Indigenous native americans honor them in every way.
