    Here it is!!!! THE UPDATE!!! Many of you have been asking what I've decided to do.....
    In this video, I share why I’ve decided to RETURN my Chanel Square Mini in the highly sought after 18b dark pink “raspberry” color.     My feeling is that you spent way too much money on something that isn't perfect and you are right to send it back. You shouldn't have to pay Leather Surgeons to have it put back the way it was. Fashionphile should have compensated you for that. At least you can get a full refund. Your patience with all of this is amazing.

    I remember reading a post by you on this and an update when you first discovered that the strap was actually altered, which I was really surprised about. So I’m glad I’ve just stumbled across your video as well to hear your decision in the end. I absolutely hate when customer service of any company act so arrogantly or difficult given how reasonable your request was. That would put me off the whole purchase experience as well. If anything, she should have been apologetic rather than being all high and mighty about it. You were probably super polite and level headed over the phone (versus other customers who may have sounded angry over the phone) and she took advantage of that. Good for you showing them the door with your decision in the end.

    I sold a boy bag to Fashionphile a couple of years ago. I had the bag dyed because of color transfer by The leather surgeon. Once I got it back the leather wasn’t soft anymore and I didn’t like the dye job. When Fashionphile listed they did not detailed the dye job. I felt they should have because I detailed it when I sold it to them.

      Wow thanks for letting us know! It is unethical to pay above retail price for a bag that has been altered and not tell the customer beforehand. I will be sure to stay away!

    Wow this is so helpful!!! Thank you for this. I recently started buying luxury bags AND THEN i wanted a Chanel but compared to other luxury bags i was a little hesitant on spending so much. So i decided to try it out first by buying preloved. Thank you for thisssss! I will be more thorough now!

    So saddened with fashionphile’s approach. I’ve purchased several items from them but i have never had the need to deal with customer service yet. I’ve been content with my purchases so far. Hopefully they see this and make changes on how they treat customers. Thanks for the video!

    Wow! They should have listed as a modified chain.
    As far as listed as excellent condition is to undermined decision making to purchase quicker in my opinion.
    I purchased from them once it was a horror experience.

    Thanks for this video. I was going to shop them online and go to their shop in California. However, if they authenticated the bag they should have known the strap was altered especially with the color / length difference. They should have reached out to the seller to ask them why prior to placing it for sale. Had they mentioned the strap was lengthened by original owner NOT by Chanel then they would be just fine. The quality of the chain and leather is not the quality of Chanel (as far as you know) so technically it’s not a genuine Chanel bag (as would be purchased in a store). Good for you, send it back and you aren’t asking for anything more than anyone else would. Shame on them!!!

    Thank you for the update - I'm glad you decided to return it. I totally think you've made the right decision. I am exactly like you and love to get things on great prices! I've not had the most fantastic experience with Leather Surgeons. I had my GST spa treated and they didn't do a good job -- when the re-do job comes back, I plan to do a video on my channel.     Great video and I agree that full refund was the way to go and so sorry. the poor response from Fashionphile. We have never purchased from there but almost did last week but last minute decided to drive to Houston to buy from the Chanel boutique directly as none here where we live. After hearing this story and similar ones, I am glad we did. I hope you stumble across the color again in the future. I do think that the original owner shouted out to you hear to try to clear up the confusion about the strap, that was awesome of her!

    Thank you for making a video about your experience. It demonstrates an unethical commercial practice from Fashionphile. They didn't only omit a piece of substantial information in their description of the item, they pushed it to malpractice when they didn't recognize their fault. These companies should be reported for misleading, deceptive and false commercial information. Who can you actually trust when you buy preloved?

    Totally agree, Fashionphile is great for finding rare pieces and is mostly very good with overall experience. However, they are almost never willing to admit a mistake or even rectify (beyond the $50 GC). In my experience they sent me the wrong authenticity card, even though on the website it shows the correct (at least from the partial view) card with the item. It was a Chanel bifold and ultimately I chose to keep it because men’s Chanel items are so hard to find, I don’t doubt their authenticity which is why I didn’t check the card when I first received it (obviously a mistake I won’t be making again)

    Thanks for the video. General question for you, have you ever noticed where Fashionphile has noted a bag has been altered? I haven’t come across one but wanted to know if you or anyone else has. I am hoping they have updated their policies and procedures to make note of alterations for buyers. It is really important as alterations impact the ability to have the original fashion house repair products.

      Yes I’ve seen plenty of Fashionphile listings that note alterations have been made to an item. In this case, they just messed up. Hope this helps!

    I've bought and always end up returning to fashionphile...the condition is never how it's stated and one time they even sent a piece with a different datecode than what was on the listing🤦🏻‍♀️ I was looking at Louis Vuitton PM Metis recently and fashionphile's prices were extremely overpriced...I hate to pay over retail like you! So I went on LV site and lo and behold, there was a PM available to purchase so I scooped it up and it must have been the only one because it said "not available" right afterward. Well I received it and it's perfect and made in france🤗 in the end, don't settle on something that isn't "perfect" for you and gives you peace of mind💕

      hello catwalk city thank you!❤️ I'm loving it so far. Did have the reverse but just couldn't get it to match well with outfits and decided to sell and just go with classic mono for it.
      Btw, I noticed the way the chain strap didn't lie nicely on the top of the bag on the altered side of this Chanel bag (like it seemed like the chain is more stiff than the original Chanel chain) that would have really bugged me. I think you made a good decision in sending it back...if it's meant to be yours, you'll get a perfect one in the future❤️❤️❤️

    I had a Chanel mini square too with the bulge you’re talking about .. did a little research on tpf and it seems there’s someone on Instagram who “trained” the leather by tying a ribbon horizontally. So I did the same. It really worked.

    1) Fashionphile man...WOW! I am SHOCKED at the lack of customer service. If they treat a repeat loyal customer this way, imagine how they treat new customers. I know that they have a pair of replica van cleef and arpels vintage Alhambra earrings for sale right now. I have emailed them about this and they are still for sale, and I have not received a response or explanation. I would be very interested to know how much they gave Jennifer for this bag. I’m willing to bet they stood to make 1k off one bag. That’s too much.
    2) I have had my attitude completely changed about altering a bag. I always thought I would alter a bag if I needed to with leather surgeons because I am so tall. Not any more! I feel like it ruins the bag. This was great content. Thank you for these videos. Man, luxury goods are like an absolute crap shoot these days.

    This video is very helpful. Maybe if you would say that you came to chanel store and was told that the chain seems to be altered, then it would be easier for partial refund? I was thinking to buy chanel bag from fashionphile and thought the website is super trustful. But I think I should be super suspicious with bags from fashionphile.

    You made the right decision if you pay over retail that bag better be perfect. Shame on FASHIONPHILE they should’ve offered to pay for the chain to be shortened if that was what you wanted to do. And a big shout out to the leather surgeons because I have bought two bags knowing that they were projects The leather surgeons restored them and I am a very happy customer

    . I wish that Fashionphile would have disclosed this issue in the description. I'm In total agreement with your decision & disappointed with the poor response you received from Fashionphile. Thousands of dollars are being spent on items & I always assumed that those who authenticate were meticulous with their descriptions.

      Fashionphile re-listed it and added “altered/repaired” in the description. The price dropped after 30 days and then someone bought it because it disappeared after that! I do hope that whoever bought it, is enjoying it thoroughly. It just wasn’t meant to be mine! 😉

    Thank you. I’ve been a Fashionphile customer for a longtime. I recently had an issue with them as well. While it ended okay I found them in the beginning to be very accusatory. Customer service has declined I’m sorry to say

    I bought a bag from fashionphile and the condition was stated as “excellent” although from my opinion it would barely pass as very good. I’ve purchased them before and had no issues with the condition stated so I was shocked. The glazing was way worse than stated and the bag inside was sticky which was not stated at all. I emailed them asking for a partial refund as well to get the sides reglazed and they told me no as well.
    I ended up returning the bag which ended up being a loss on my end because they wouldn’t refund my shipping (international customer) and paying for customs was out of my pocket. I’m hesitant on purchasing from fashionphile ever again.

    its definitely not about the money! if you can afford an over 3k bag, a couple hundred dollars is not a big deal (for this transaction). I totally understand where you are coming from and it would have sored my relationship with the company too. I would have expected a little more care from them towards the customer. I am happy you returned and I am sure you will find a perfect one soon!!!! Cheers!!!

    I bought a Louis Vuitton bag from them like six years ago and after carefully inspecting it I felt it was off so I took it to the Louie store and they said they can’t Authenticate it but she said it’s not real so I sent it back and told them it’s not real and what I was told at the store and they still listed it. The serial numbers wasn’t even straight.

    Question: when Jennifer sold the bag to Fashionphile, did she disclose all the info about the strap being lengthened and the color on the new part being different? If so, shouldn't Fashionphile have put all this info in the description of the bag?

    First of all, I 100 percent will do the same thing. Tbh, the price is the main reason, for sure, we deserve what we paid for!! However, for fashionphile customer representatives, I don’t think they should answer differently based on the buying history. They should act more helpful for sure, but not just to some “top” customers.

    Good decision. Even if everything gets sorted out after, you will always remember this bad customer experience everytime, the backwards and forwards, how much money you paid and the effort it took.

    Fashionphile knows that another buyer will grab this bag without any concerns. Many people are tall and desire the chain to be longer anyway.

      This is the same mindset I found at LV. They don't care about customer service because someone will snap up my returned bag and not even NOTICE the defect. Quality control at LV is terrible.

    What an amazing story how you found the original owner! Fashionphile has just gone downhill. They used to be the best in both items and customer service but I think they just don’t care anymore and it’s all about profit. And customer service agents should not be giving out ridiculous explanations like that! Some of us are very knowledgeable on these fashion houses but can you imagine someone not knowing anything just taking their word for it and keeping it? Thanks so much for sharing this! It is so informative in so many levels! You are doing the right thing returning. There are many reputable Instagram resellers that have better quality authentic items at much better prices! Hope you find your unicorn! ❤️❤️❤️

    07:40 even new chanel bags come with the chain like that. They say because it isn't stitched, they can fix it easily with the hands at the store.

    I’ve always wanted to try fashionphile but this really turns me off. Nooooo excuse fashionphile for not declaring the altered strap . Really disgusting !!!! You did the right thing ..... crazy to pay above retail for an altered bag !!! Sooo not worth it !! 💖🌸

    This is why im afraid to purchase preloved. It's hard to tell if a bag has been altered,dyed or repaired.I returned a bag I purchased from Vestiaire once.The bag had been dyed and not it's original colour. The chain was also very twisted. Apparently they shortened the chain and it got twisted when they reattached it to the bag. I had even paid extra for Quality control and Authenticity with with Vestiaire. Never again.

    I used to have better buying experiences with Fashionphile before they were such a big outfit. I noticed a change in the way they described their merchandise a couple of years ago.....being less forthright about the actual condition. Frankly, I've stopped purchasing from them. To be honest I'm less than impressed with the quality of designer bags in general and dealing with rude SA's when there is a quality issue.....ESPECIALLY at LV. I have all my "holy grails" so I've pretty much stopped collecting. Designer bags have become way overpriced.

    Nice bag. Tho it's not that rare in asia. I've seen that on display many times in the boutique. I think there wont be a bag that I will pay more than retail. Good thing you returned it.

    Honestly, I think Chanel as a high end fashion hause, should provide atelier service , and service the size of customers buying their bags, when it comes to the chain. I have the mini rectangular, and I can only wear it on the shoulder, because it is to short for me to wear it Crossbody.

    As chanel collector, for me when you wear the bag pelt will focus long the color and the bag, not the chain. The bag is beautiful color, no one card much of look so careful on tiny chain. For me as rare color like this, and good condition , I would keep it. It is hard to find at chanel boutique., People are fighting to get this color. It is keeper for me. For sure.

    I'm only seeing this now, it was a lovely little bag, and the sides are perfect ... but the strap is a no. Good decision.

    Looks like this bag is relisted on Fashionphile. No references to the altered strap was made on the listing. They are being shady.

    First time watcher and I love you already! Very precise and concise! I’m sorry and disappointed about your Fashionphile experience! They really did you wrong in this case! A bit of advice...when it comes to something this special and expensive, always talk to a manager, or even the director or general manager! They always wield more power, and even if they can’t do anything more for you, ( which they definitely can!) at least you’ll know your story is being told correctly and that someone isn’t leaving out important details! I’ve always had the best results from other vendors, after being told NO by the sales associate who just happened to answer the phone. Sometimes you have to be a real Karen and ask for a higher up! Most managers have an image to uphold and are held to a higher level of conflict resolution. They just don’t want to be bothered by every little complaint! Yours is definitely worth taking it to the CEO if you need to! Most companies would rather pay the small fee ($150) you requested to have it altered back, then to lose $2500 and have a disappointed customer, especially one who’s spent 5 figures with them and has a nice following on UA-cam!     SWITCH & BAIT, an unlawful business practice, is my assessment from your multiple 'rubbing me the wrong way' comments. Fashionfile obviously dropped the ball on 'Honesty is the Best policy'. I agree with you 💯 on everything you said. Good thing Fashionfile doesn't deliver babies or they would have given you someone else's baby and said it's REALLY yours because technically 'a baby is a baby' even though the baby they gave you doesn't have you all's DNA genetics. Augh! When I go into analogies, it means it's a 'BS' situation and I'm obviously really angry.

    I know this is an old video but if anyone sees this who is thinking about purchasing from fashionphile, please think twice. I bought a Louis Vuitton alma bb in rose ballerine. They listed it as excellent condition only light hardware scratches. When I received it the entire fabric part of the zipper was stained and dirty. It could not be cleaned and LV told me they couldn’t replace this part of the bag. I emailed fashionphile about the problem and just like in this video, they were no help and didn’t care. That was the last bag I bought from them and definitely will not buy from them ever again.

    People should not alter these expensive bags! Unless they are a forever bag..... because it was altered for the previous owners height. At the very least, this change should have been disclosed in the FASHIONPHILE listing.

    This is the unfortunate reality of the luxury goods companies, once they become successful their 'helpful' attitude changes and customer care ceases to exist..It's a shame, It looks like a beautiful little bag, good decision though. Luckily you can return it!

    I just came across your videos there great. Fashionphile use to be good in my opinion but now that everyone uses them there customer service has gotten worse. I don't like buying used bags I'm to much of a perfectionist, however I do sell them my bags when I bored. Lately I noticed they have been low balling me with quotes and there selling these bags overpriced, especially with Chanel.
