it's an adjustment for sure, but I do still love it. if you can think of it almost as a completely different game than old HS, you can have a good time. it's much faster, more volatile (in a good way) and there's a lot of variance from game to game. if anything, this is probably the lowest power set they've printed in a long time, and the mini-set is similar in power to the main set.
had a similar thought about the game being essentially turbo HS now. i am surprised that i don’t really mind at all, even as a player that prefers value decks that tend to drag the game out, because those decks are faster too. i think the thing that matters more than anything is that the meta is probably more diverse than ever. facing different decks every game is what really keeps me queuing up.
I got to legend last month and this month with big spell mage before the mini set. Now that everyone else is playing it I don’t want to play it anymore 😭
Ironically the counter deck is basically this deck again, but running all 4 battlecry minions that increase the cost of opponents spells and 2 Customs Enforcers to increase the cost of their coins to 2.
Either building up a big board to counter their tsunami and volley, or having enough board clears to survive their turns Dk plagues also work for screwing up their surfalopod and under the sea
CHUMP! Make an "Espiomage" deck! I made one and omg it's so fun! You end up with an 80 card deck full of cards that all cost 1 mana (but keep their original stats). You basically use cards like Rewind, Volume Up, Tidepool Pupil, Audio Splitter, etc to just keep pumping your deck full of cards that are all reduced to 1 cost. SO MUCH FUN! OH and the most important card is Gaslight Gatekeeper! (I made up this deck myself and worked on it all day changing it around to what I have found can still win games in Legend.)
I am struggling with that. The damn thing hooked me up badly since ungoro I believe. I also want to leave it, damn thing is just RNG and bs all over again with no fun in it.
I genuinely cannot fathom how bad most pain-lock players are, often times they have complete control over the board and game, and then they choose to quite literally kill themselves (against a mage of all things!) chump had lethal no matter what the last game, as he could simply ping the 2/1.

There's no point in pretending anymore, it's just Activision wearing a mask that says "Blizzard" on it. Mostly just Activision employees and fresh hires, practically no Blizzard old blood left.
This deck definitely needs Seabreeze Chalice. Hear me out: Step 1: You leave your opponent on 1 or 2 HP; Step 2: On turn 10 (yeah, I know) you play your 10 mana coin; Step 3: You have just enough mana to play Seabreeze Chalice to randonmy kill your opponent for the ultimate BM. Step 4: There is no Step 4, only BM.
22:13 The card text doesn't update to accommodate for a number not starting with a vowel sound, which is funny because 8 is the only single-digit number that does and it's the starting value they decided to go with on the card, for whatever reason. That's quite an oversight, and I find it hard to believe they don't have the programming tech to have "an" change to "a" when appropriate.
This is the most fun I've had with a deck in like, 3 expansions. I typically don't jump on board with the trash broken overvalued meta, but I'm embracing it with this deck since Blizzard is never going to revert Hearthstone back to a sensible and stable state. Couldn't beat people with fun decks, so I've joined them.
90% of my ladder experience post mini-set has been big spell mage with King Tide and/or Skyla on curve or even 2-4 turns ahead of time with the influx of coin abuse. If you can stabilize then Conman just locks you out repeatedly. To add insult to injury in most decks King Tide rewards your opponent and locks out your small options of cheap spells in an effort to find an answer. Wanted to play Thief Rogue for 'fun', but it's pretty much all mages.
It's kind of funny and messed up that they made going second more advantageous now for Mages with Skyla. And now the ladder has been flooded with these mage decks. I've seen so many today already. It's obvious at this point Blizz does this on purpose but do they not understand they lose players from the game at the cost of gaining players that want an easy ladder climb. Also they risk losing players to rage mirror matchups based on pure rng.
I'm hoping once we're past the first days and the meta settles that other miniset cards will shine cause aside from Skyla and a couple others they seemed really mid (which explains why Big mage got so popular)
They know Greedy Partner exists, and is a popular/strong card. They know Tsunami was buffed recently, as well as other Big Spell Mage pieces. They release the mini-set as is anyway xD
Yeah I went to legend with similar big spell mage list the day mini set released with 10 wins in a row. It felt really strong but also really fun, haven't had so much fun with a deck in a while so it's a shame it will probably get nerfed.
>release new mini set with OP cards >everyone know theyre gonna get nerfed in a couple days >people are incentivised to spend money and get the new cards >nerf the cards, rinse and repeat
Only came here to comment that this kind of meta is just unwatchable bullshit. I will not play Standard while this is a thing. I will not watch streamers playing this thing... It's definitely a completely idiotic meta that should not be a thing in any respectable card game. I don't even care if there's an aggro deck that farms this, I don't want to play either one.
how do they fix this card? even if they made it "split the total cost of your highest and lowest cost spells" it would still be REALLY good. the usual one or two mana hit nerf is nothing but a slight delay. maybe make it highlander required?
Have all cards except for Puzzlemancer Khadgar. Anyone have some good suggestions on what to replace it with? Just gonna toss Kalecgos in for now but open to suggestions if anyone has a better alternative. I've got 2100 dust but not sure I wanna spend the majority of it on Khadgar.
I just LOVE rogues. Don't you guys love rogues too? Even when they obviously lost at turn 5 they still need to play all their excavate and thievery BS just to take forever for their turn to discover 7 cards even though not a single card in existence can save them and you got to look at them painfully slowly realizing the game is lost, pass the turn and THEN concede
